The marvel of the Spirit-Eye artifacts naturally sent the cultivators, who pursued the Dao of Heaven, into a frenzy! Every time such an artifact appeared, it stirred bloodshed and turmoil within the local cultivation circles. Yet in the present day, the cultivation realm of Yue State has long since secured these treasures in the hands of the Seven Great Sects. Even smaller sects and schools—such as Huangfeng Valley, which possesses one Spirit-Eye Stone and three Spirit-Eye Springs—have seen their treasures entirely claimed by senior cultivators at the Jie Dan stage or above. Even the Grand Master Zhong has been left without a single one. Naturally, the senior cultivator at the Yuan Ying stage took the largest share. Now, Han Li could never have imagined that, with merely an ordinary two-eyed mouse, he had spent over a day and managed to effortlessly discover one Spirit-Eye artifact in the vicinity. Though this was merely the most basic type of Spirit-Eye artifact—a small spring, indeed—and its effects were likely quite limited.
The item formed with a spiritual eye is truly a spiritual eye item—at the very least, it matures much faster than ordinary spiritual eye items. Even a half-percentage increase in cultivation speed would be a great advantage! Yet, despite his overwhelming joy, Han Li felt a touch of puzzlement. Didn’t spiritual eye items typically form only in areas with the richest spiritual energy? Yet the spiritual energy here, near this mountain peak, was rather sparse. How could such an item form at all? And how could it form into such a small, compact spring? While Han Li was delighted, he also felt a certain sense of regret. Nevertheless, since a great opportunity had fallen from the sky, Han Li naturally wouldn’t let it slip. Though the spiritual eye spring could be moved—something only available to cultivators at the Jiandan stage—Han Li had not yet reached that level. Therefore, it was only natural that he decided to build his residence right here and designate this spring’s rock cave as his private practice chamber, to be carefully concealed. Han Li immediately expanded the passage he had cleared.
With one hand wielding a silver sword and the other maneuvering several golden blades, Han Li advanced on his grand project of establishing a dwelling. Meanwhile, the mouse with dual pupils plunged into the spring's waters and never rose again, settling down to sleep soundly within the clear stream.
Relying on the sharpness of his silver sword and the number of his golden blades, Han Li, after half a day of tireless effort, laid the foundation for a spacious dwelling. He successfully excavated thirteen rooms of varying sizes and three large halls each covering an acre of ground.
Though the walls of the rooms were still rough and unrefined, requiring further craftsmanship, they were at least sufficient for habitation—this gave Han Li a sense of relief, allowing him to pause his work.
At that moment, he suddenly remembered the mouse and hurried back to the spring. He lifted the sleeping creature by its neck, then flew hundreds of miles on his enchanted vessel before gently releasing it, so that it might return on its own to the Qi Lin Pavilion.
For now, Han Li's dwelling had only one entrance.
Thus, upon returning, he immediately arranged the five small flags and several low-rank spiritual stones according to the method described in the jade scroll, setting up a small concealment array that completely masked the exit. From the outside, the scene remained a seamless mountain wall, with no indication of the newly formed cavern. After establishing the most basic protection, Han Li used his silver sword to carve a simple stone bed and hurriedly lay down to rest. He was truly exhausted! For several days thereafter, Han Li remained busy without pause. First, he located a flat, sheltered patch of land near his dwelling and scattered various medicinal seeds there—some ordinary seeds he had brought from the mortal world, and others, gathered over the past several years from the Hundred Medicine Garden. This site would soon become his own medicinal garden, where the matured medicinal seedlings would eventually emerge.
With the remaining time, Han Li gathered some harder green stones from the mountain, carving out tables, chairs, and other furnishings from them, and placed a complete set in each room. He then carefully smoothed out the walls and embedded some moonstone, making the inner chambers bright as day. Thus, Han Li's dwelling was finally established. However, it was evident that the protective capabilities of this dwelling were utterly inadequate, making it impossible for Han Li to settle down and practice his cultivation. In his view, at the very least, he needed a comprehensive sealing spell—something akin to the Hundred Medicine Garden—so that in the event of an external threat during his practice, he wouldn't be in serious trouble. Han Li had only a superficial understanding of array techniques and couldn't even arrange the most basic ones, let alone more advanced sealing spells. Yet, he had no intention of learning them. After all, the art of array was vast and profound; if he diverted his attention to it, it would take him at least a dozen or so years before he could achieve even a modest level of proficiency.
Moreover, his own cultivation would surely suffer, and that was something Feng Li could not afford! While it might be possible in this world for rare geniuses to deeply study array techniques without compromising their cultivation—let alone exceptional talents who could achieve enlightenment through array mastery—Feng Li was certain that such a scenario would never apply to himself. Should he even slightly divert his attention to array studies, he would inevitably extinguish his final hope of reaching the Ji Dan stage. Fortunately, however, there exist portable array-related artifacts such as array flags and array discs, which are easy to carry and deploy. While these typically allow only ordinary defensive array setups, Feng Li currently only needs basic array defenses to safeguard his dwelling, and thus can feel confident about most aspects. Should the situation demand more, he could simply deploy several additional sealing spells to compensate for any defensive gaps. Coincidentally, the Tianxing Sect of Yuanwu Kingdom has gained renown across neighboring nations precisely for its mastery of array techniques.
Such restricted magic artifacts as array flags and array discs are annually produced in large quantities and enter the immortal cultivation realm, primarily to exchange for needed spiritual stones and materials. Han Li had set his sights on the market of Tianxing Sect, where he was certain to find the specific restricted magic artifacts he required. Thus, once several medicinal seedlings had sprouted, he immediately began using the green liquid to accelerate their maturation. His plan remained to trade a single thousand-year-old medicinal plant at Tianxing Sect's market for what he needed. This time, he would only reveal one such thousand-year-old herb, thus avoiding excessive exposure that might raise suspicion or invite unnecessary complications. In just over two months, Han Li successfully matured the thousand-year-old medicinal plants. Then, he took the matured herbs along with other exchangeable items and headed northward, such as the full materials of the black dragon-jelly and the hard shells of the centipedes. If the prices were favorable, Han Li was not unwilling to make the exchange outright, as he would not need to divert his attention to learning the art of crafting artifacts.
Han Li wore his cloak while flying, just in case!
For a man whose magical power had greatly strengthened, a journey of over a hundred miles would take only a few days.
As soon as he entered the Yuanwu Kingdom, Han Li began to survey the landscape, looking here and there—first to locate the market of the Tianxing Sect, and second, to gain a sense of curiosity about the kingdom itself. Yet, upon closer inspection, the scenery seemed no different from that of Yue Kingdom!
Like Yue, Yuanwu is a mid-sized nation in the region.
Though neither as large as one-third of the great kingdoms of Tianluo or Fengdu, it is still significantly larger than neighboring smaller states such as Jiang and Shaya.
Although only two major kingdoms exist in this region, there are over a dozen mid-sized states, and even more numerous smaller ones scattered throughout the surrounding areas. Moreover, it is said that even farther afield, there exist superpowers so vast and powerful that they are truly astonishing!
Meanwhile, the immortal cultivation realm of Yuanwu was evenly matched between the Zheng and Mo sects, maintaining a state of stalemate. The Tianxing Sect stood as one of the core Zheng sects, possessing a strength no less than Huangfeng Valley. As Han Li pondered the matters concerning the Tianxing Sect, his leaf-shaped artifact beneath his feet suddenly grew heavier, then slowly descended to the ground, as if momentarily losing its ability to float. Seeing this unfavorable development, Han Li did not react with surprise—he instead revealed a subtle sense of satisfaction. Clearly, he had now reached the vicinity of the Tianxing Sect's marketplace, otherwise such a flight-suppressing spell would not have been in effect. Indeed, upon landing, after walking seven or eight li northward, Han Li came upon a cluster of buildings that was even three-tenths larger than Huangfeng Valley's marketplace. The Tianxing Sect's marketplace was remarkably unique, standing in stark contrast to that of Huangfeng Valley! It was centered around a towering pavilion several tens of zhang high, with surrounding buildings only one-tenth of that height, arranged in a circular, radiating layout.
The plaque on the mid-level pavilion was indeed too large, so Han Li clearly spotted the three towering silver characters—"Xingchen Pavilion"—from just a couple of li away. It was evident, therefore, that this pavilion must be the Tianxing Sect's own shop!
The journey of just a couple of li took Han Li only a moment.
By habit, Han Li didn't rush in but instead leisurely strolled around the outer perimeter of the marketplace, taking time to get a feel for the area.
To his surprise, there were several shops here that truly opened his eyes and sparked his enthusiasm!
One workshop specializing in artifact crafting accepted materials from cultivators at any time, allowing them to create various items according to the material owner's specifications. The shop's claims were quite ambitious—asserting it could craft everything from low-tier to top-tier artifacts. Moreover, if a crafting attempt failed, it would return double the value of the material in spirit stones. Of course, if one didn't have materials and wished to commission a custom artifact, the price would certainly not be cheap.
Another shop specializing in spiritual scrolls is quite similar in offerings to the alchemy hall, even accepting custom orders for spiritual scrolls! Among the slightly more distinctive establishments, there's also a dedicated pavilion for spiritual beasts, selling various tamed mythical creatures, including several first-tier upper-stage beasts. If one were to bring such beasts back as guardians, it would seem like a sound choice.
