Han Li almost didn't need to think—his confidence in Xuan Gu's account was solid. After all, the Star Palace had stood firm in the Turbulent Star Sea for so many years without collapsing, clearly employing some means. It was unlikely that they had simply come here to act as supervisors at random; they probably had their own intentions. With this thought forming, Han Li's eyes flashed with cold light. Though he said nothing to Xuan Gu, his awareness of these two white-robed elders instantly sharpened. Yet, for the following days, the two elders remained seated motionless, completely immersed in their cultivation, never opening their eyes or uttering a single word. Thus, under an eerie atmosphere, time passed unbroken for three more days. During this period, only a few new cultivators arrived, and no Yuan-Stage cultivators came at all. Then, on the fourth day in the morning, a sudden transformation occurred. A series of thunderous sounds followed, and without any prior warning, a white jade door descended from the hall entrance, sealing the entire hall completely.
The door was hazy and white, clearly protected by a powerful seal. A loud rumble could also be heard from afar at the palace gate, as though it too had been sealed shut. This caused a few people in the hall to express mild concern, but when they saw that the Yuan Ying stage cultivators remained calm, their anxiety eased. At that moment, the two white-robed elders from the Star Palace opened their eyes calmly and rose steadily without hesitation. Immediately, the attention of the other cultivators turned to them—those who knew recognized the significance with a look of understanding, while others remained slightly puzzled. The Yuan Ying cultivators, however, watched the elders silently, saying nothing. The two elders walked steadily toward the front of the hall. Yet, before they reached their destination, a gentle tremor ran through the ground at the very end of the hall, and several stone slabs there flashed with brilliant white light.
Then, to everyone's astonishment, a small teleportation array, about one zhang in size, materialized there. Among so many cultivators in the hall, no one had noticed how it had appeared—leaving many proud and esteemed cultivators deeply surprised. The two white-robed elders, however, remained calm and walked steadily to the array, bowing respectfully to examine it thoroughly. After a while, they exchanged glances and nodded in unison. "All right," said one, "the array is sound. From here, you can reach the outer pavilion of the Xitian Hall. Go ahead and take care of yourselves." With that, the two elders stepped one after the other onto the array. As two beams of white light flashed, their forms vanished completely. The other cultivators in the hall now stared at each other, puzzled. Yet before they could react, Wansh Tian, accompanied by the old monk and the slender, wiry elder, swiftly descended from the jade pillar and joined them at the array, stepping through and being transported away.
Only then did the cultivators realize what was happening, and those who were closer hurried over. The transmission array flashed with white light continuously, and within a moment, half the cultivators in the hall had already departed—Pyong Guo, too, stepped forward among them. Han Li's eyes sparkled with unusual light, and he instinctively turned to gaze at Ji Yin the Elder and the others. To his surprise, Ji Yin the Elder also fixed him with a thoughtful gaze, which startled Han Li deeply. He quickly shifted his eyes away, his heart growing even more uneasy. It seemed that Ji Yin the Elder truly intended to leave no stone unturned in dealing with him! Though somewhat frustrated, Han Li simply stood up and walked forward. Seeing Han Li's actions, Ji Yin the Elder smiled faintly, a strange, almost cold, expression playing on his lips. This caused his usually silent, mute attendant, Wu Chou, to finally break his silence and softly inquire, "Master, you've clearly been paying close attention to that young man. Is there something unusual about him?" Wu Chou was genuinely curious. "Nothing special, really," replied Ji Yin the Elder. "It's just that this person proves to be of great value
"I must rely on a few of them," the Master of Extreme Yin shook his head, speaking with a carefree tone, as if he didn't wish to reveal much to Wu Chou. This made Wu Chou, who had always been particularly favored by the Master of Extreme Yin, feel a bit puzzled. At that moment, the scholar in robes, Qing Yi Ju Shi, cleared his throat gently and said in a leisurely manner, "Shall we perhaps begin our journey now? There aren't many people left in the hall." The Master of Extreme Yin was taken aback, glanced briefly at the few remaining cultivators in the hall, and smiled lightly, replying, "Of course. If we don't move now, the transmission array will vanish. It will reappear only next month." Immediately after speaking, the Master of Extreme Yin pulled Wu Chou and drifted down like a mass of dark clouds. Qing Yi Ju Shi and the bearded man followed suit, drifting down gracefully from the jade pillar. The beautiful woman, however, had already departed earlier. It seemed she had deliberately intended to avoid mingling with the Master of Extreme Yin and his group.
…After a moment of dizziness, Han Li found himself standing on a desolate, small hillock. Surveying the surroundings, he was taken aback. Only two men and one woman were nearby—every other cultivator had vanished completely. The woman among the trio, upon seeing Han Li appear, beamed with delight—she was precisely the Purple Spirit Maiden. Without hesitation, she approached him with a warm smile. The man who had been with her, however, seemed to have been transported to an entirely different location, leaving Han Li with a faint sense of frustration, as if another complication was about to arise. As for the other two figures—one a gray-robed elder and the other a cloaked figure with a face concealed—while the elder was relatively unremarkable, the cloaked figure exuded a thick, deep green mist that wrapped around him, clearly a master of a demonic cultivation technique. The two stood apart from each other, appearing notably out of place.
Zi Ling the immortal maiden now approached Han Li steadily, naturally drawing the attention of the two figures present, who likewise turned to examine Han Li. The elder's gaze was warm and kind, even offering a gentle smile to Han Li. The black-robed figure, however, maintained a cold, expressionless demeanor, devoid of any emotion. Han Li, in turn, looked calmly at the two without displaying any unusual reaction.
After all, even established Dan-stage cultivators wouldn't necessarily be able to protect themselves within the Xitian Hall. Although Han Li had only a vague understanding of the Xitian Hall, it didn't hinder his assessment of the journey's dangers, and he naturally found himself puzzled. Upon hearing Han Li's question, the Zi Ling Lady, with her delicate features, revealed a touch of bitterness, speaking in a tone of utter resignation: "I didn't intend to come here at all. But you must have noticed—right now, I'm at the stage of false Dan, about to attempt the Dan stage transition. However, my cultivation aptitude isn't particularly strong, and the auxiliary pills I can gather are truly scarce. That's why I've had to pay a premium to purchase a fragment of the Xitian Map from others, and now I'm here, diligently practicing my cultivation. I've heard that the Xitian Hall boasts an abundance of medicinal herbs—perhaps fortune will smile upon me and allow me to encounter several particularly beneficial ones for my Dan stage. Moreover, I've already made up my mind: I'll simply make it through this first trial and stop there. I have no intention of attempting the second one at all!"
The Zǐ Líng Immortal Princess looked gloomily, her expression heavy with resignation.
Han Li silently sighed, his gaze falling. Back then, if it weren’t for his cultivation of the "San Zhuan Zhong Yuan Technique" and the "Da Yan Decision," combined with numerous precious herbs that had significantly boosted his chances of achieving Dan Stage, he would have been just as hopeless as the present Zǐ Líng Immortal Princess.
Thinking of this, Han Li now felt a deep sense of kinship with her.
Then, recalling that the day’s lightning bamboo had been crafted entirely by her hands, and that the Miao Yin Sect sent him a steady supply of spiritual stones each year—though modest in quantity, it still owed him a debt of goodwill—why not settle this now?
With this thought, Han Li’s expression softened slightly, and he spoke in a calm, gentle tone:
"Since we’ve come to be together, I shall certainly take care of myself. But should the time come when even I am in dire straits, then Miss Zǐ will need to find her own way to secure her safety."
"Thank you, Elder Han. This point is certainly clear to me, and I will certainly not let Elder Han down." Upon seeing Han Li agree, the Purple Spirit Lady's delicate demeanor brightened instantly, her radiance becoming so striking that Han Li was momentarily stunned. Subsequently, feeling slightly awkward, Han Li turned his head away, his face slightly warmed, and dared not look at her again.
