"Fu Hu Gong, Zhuan Lun Jing... Ming Wang Jue..." Han Li quickly scanned the list and recited each name, the titles themselves revealing much. "Ming Wang Jue! I've heard of this technique—it's a rare cultivation method specifically practiced by Buddhist bodhisattvas and protectors of the金刚, and it seems extremely difficult to master. How could the ancestral figure of the Feng family possess such a secret? Show me the jade scroll—perhaps it can help eliminate the negative energy." Yet as the three characters "Ming Wang Jue" were spoken, the Da Yan Divine Sovereign was visibly astonished. Han Li was pleased at this development. He didn't care how the Feng family ancestor had acquired this technique—only that it could help remove the negative energy. Without hesitation, he tossed the jade scroll into the bamboo cylinder behind him. From then on, the Da Yan Divine Sovereign focused intently on deciphering the techniques within the scroll, while Han Li began freely selecting valuable items from the Feng family's secret cavern, placing them into his storage pouch.
By his own heart's desire, Han Li naturally wanted to carry everything away at once. Yet, regretfully, his storage bags were limited—he could only select what he needed, aside from the spiritual stones. The several法宝 were naturally all taken. As for materials and scrolls, he only took a portion that proved useful. Regarding the various implements, Han Li left most of them on the shelves, only taking a few with particularly remarkable functions. After carefully selecting what he wanted, Han Li faced a pile of jade scrolls and began browsing through the techniques he had noticed during his spiritual scan earlier. Then he settled into a quiet meditation in the hall, remaining silent. Time passed slowly, and eventually, after an indeterminate length of time, the voice of the Da Yan Divine Sovereign echoed through the still, empty hall, immediately drawing Han Li’s attention away from the technique he was holding. "This Ming Wang Sect Technique is rather unusual," the Sovereign said. "It's described as a Buddhist cultivation method, yet its practice is extremely forceful, almost exhibiting a touch of magical, even demonic, tendencies."
"The Great Derivation Immortal spoke calmly. "Magical technique! What does that mean? Can this method truly eliminate the bad qi that's currently affecting me?" Han Li's heart sank, and he asked calmly. "Don't worry. From the perspective of the bad qi, I must congratulate you. This technique indeed resolves your major issue. However, it does not merely expel or dissipate the bad qi as one might expect. Instead, it resembles the approach of the magical schools—transforming and incorporating the bad qi into one's own essence. Yet, as the cultivation method reveals, this approach appears somewhat risky. After all, bad qi is a powerful force, not one that can be easily controlled. You may wish to consider whether to seek out other Buddhist cultivation techniques, and weigh the pros and cons yourself." The Great Derivation Immortal paused, outlining his thoughts clearly, then tossed the jade scroll out of the bamboo tube. "Transforming the bad qi into one's own essence? Will I not eventually evolve into an ancient magical cultivator as I advance?" Han Li caught the scroll, his expression sharpening with alertness. "You need not be concerned about that."
This Ming Wang Technique, being a cultivation method established by Buddhist protectors, naturally wouldn't be truly linked to the demonic path. Although its cultivation approach is somewhat intense, it differs significantly from typical demonic techniques that directly harness and drive destructive qi to attack and injure opponents. Instead, it uses qi as an auxiliary force—retaining the fierce, powerful nature of the qi while eliminating most of its less desirable effects. Indeed, the Buddhist order truly boasts capable masters who have devised such a technique that transitions from the demonic to the Buddhist path. I would wager that its wisdom and insight ranks only equal to, or even surpasses, my own. This technique is truly on par with the Da Yan Technique, a great divine power. The Da Yan Sovereign expressed his admiration with a touch of respect. Upon hearing the Da Yan Sovereign compare this technique to the Da Yan Technique, Han Li found himself both intrigued and somewhat doubtful. He immediately immersed his awareness once again into the scroll, carefully reviewing the Ming Wang Technique in detail. Yet, after only a brief moment, he exclaimed in astonishment. "Huh!"
"This technique sounds very familiar—I've seen something like it before!"
"You've seen it?" The Daxian Divine Sovereign was also surprised.
"Indeed… I remember now! This technique bears a strong resemblance to the elven cultivation method inscribed on that object!" After a moment of thoughtful reflection, Han Li suddenly recalled something. He reached out and touched his storage pouch, and in his hand appeared a copper tablet about the size of a palm.
It was precisely the Buddhist Saint True Tablet that he had long since forgotten—set aside for years.
Without further hesitation, Han Li carefully compared the tablet's elven script once again, closely examining the details.
After a while, he realized that although the content of the "Mingwang Technique" differed from that of the elven method, both clearly originated from the same lineage. However, the Mingwang Technique appeared notably simpler and less advanced than the one inscribed on the tablet—yet there was a subtle, almost indistinct resemblance between them. This left Han Li utterly puzzled, confused.
"What exactly is this tablet?"
The Da-Yan Divine Sovereign watched Han Li occasionally glancing at the jade scroll and then gazing intently at the bronze tablet, his expression growing increasingly puzzled. He couldn't help but ask, "Allow me to take a look as well. My own aptitude is limited, and I simply cannot see the connection between these two. Perhaps you could clarify it for me." After a brief hesitation, Han Li sighed lightly and tossed the bronze tablet into the bamboo cylinder behind him, then settled into thoughtful contemplation, arms folded. "This is an eldritch script. Therefore, this cultivation technique must be exceptional among the immortal clans. Let me examine it..." After muttering a few words, the Da-Yan Divine Sovereign's voice softened and fell into silence—clearly now deeply engaged with the script on the tablet. This time, the Da-Yan Divine Sovereign did not take long, offering Han Li a clear answer just one hour later. "At last, I see the connection. Clearly, the Buddhist 'Mingwang Technique' has been refined from this set of eldritch cultivation methods. Specifically, it has been adapted by supplementing the missing foundational elements found on the tablet."
"The Great Yanshan Sovereign firmly affirmed. "Ah, now I understand. Yet the final section of the Ming Wang Sect's technique still seems to fail to connect smoothly with the method recorded on the copper plate—there must be another missing part in between." Only now, after careful consideration, did Han Li raise his head and express his own thoughts. "I didn't expect you, young Han, to notice this subtle point as well. Indeed, you're right. The entire set of the eldritch race's techniques should actually be divided into three parts. The Ming Wang Sect's foundation stems from the most basic body cultivation phase, the copper plate records the final stage of divine power manifestation, while the middle section—specifically the body transformation phase—is missing. This technique is truly exceptional, quite intriguing! Three heads, six arms! Isn't this remarkably similar to the divine power displayed by that ancient demon? I've heard this before—long ago, the eldritch race was the first to encounter the ancient demonic realm. It seems this observation is indeed accurate." The Great Yanshan Sovereign chuckled softly, clearly delighted.
"So it seems the technique was originally passed from the demonic race to the spirit race, and then the Buddhist sect adopted its foundational aspects, refining it into the current Ming Wang Ju. The fact that both the demonic, spirit, and Buddhist traditions have recognized and valued this technique suggests it has a profound origin and unique merits. Nevertheless, regardless of the power of this technique, my five ghosts may soon be unable to contain the lingering malevolent energies. I can't afford to dwell on these details any longer. What matters most is that I first master the Ming Wang Ju and resolve the immediate crisis." Han Li pondered for a while, then sighed. "Agreed. If we spend more time searching for the other techniques, we may face time-related risks. Moreover, while the Ming Wang Ju might be challenging for others, you already possess such a strong foundation of malevolent energy—so I believe your practice should proceed smoothly." The Great Derivation Sovereign thoughtfully nodded, expressing agreement. "I hope so."
But this technique seems to require a Jading Shells of a Bodhisattva to be practiced—will it not cause any issues if I simply proceed with it as is?" Han Li recalled something else, hesitating and asking. "You haven't just recently obtained one such shell, haven't you? That's quite fortunate for you—otherwise, I wouldn't have recommended this technique. While other types of shells could be used to some extent, their effectiveness would certainly be far inferior. Once your spiritual beast absorbs the corpse-fire from within the Jading Shell's enclosure, you will complete the final refinement of that enclosure. Then, I will teach you another technique to transform this into your life-long spiritual artifact. After that, there will be no issues at all. When I was traveling abroad, I became deeply interested in these shells, even disguising myself and joining one of the great Buddhist monasteries for over a decade, dedicating myself entirely to studying them. So, there's no need to worry about this matter. In fact, even if you don't practice the Mingwang Technique and instead choose other Buddhist practices aimed at dispelling negative energies, you still need just one such shell.
Yet in a land as flourishing with Buddhist traditions as the Great Jin, finding a single relic of the Buddha is no great feat. The Great Derivative Sovereign looked confident, as if this matter had been carefully planned long before. "Then I'm reassured! If the scripture truly proves effective, we should leave at once. Since we've entered this mountain range, I've always felt a growing sense of discomfort—this is most unfavorable. We must seek out a fresh, vital energy vein to cultivate there." After carefully weighing the matter in his mind, Han Li felt certain that the Ming Wang Scripture would suit him perfectly, and thus relaxed, saying so. Then, after giving the hall one final glance and ensuring nothing had been overlooked, he stepped forward and headed toward a corner where a teleportation array stood, his form dissolving into light and vanishing.
But after flying hundreds of li, a tremendous roar suddenly erupted from some direction, shaking the entire mountain range with a resonant hum, as if the heavens had collapsed and the earth split open. Unprepared, Han Li felt a ringing in his ears, his body swaying slightly, his face instantly pale. He quickly glanced toward the source of the sound, his expression darkening. Without a word, he doubled his flight speed, altering his course toward the direction away from the roar and shot off at full speed. However, just after flying twenty or so li, his consciousness sensed a remarkable surge of spiritual energy behind him. Soon, a gray mist, a dark cloud, and a swirling, white-hazy gale followed one after another, breaking through the air and approaching at a pace far surpassing what was expected from a Foundation Stage cultivator. In mere moments, they were only a few li away from Han Li!
