Chapter 939: The Cauldron Space

Back to Chapter List
"Could space rifts be refined into pebble-sized spaces?" Han Li's face bore evident astonishment, as if he found it hard to believe. After all, any spatial magic invariably involved grand, significant feats. Indeed, the most common magical storage scrolls in the immortal realm were simply one of the most basic applications of spatial magic. Even the highest-grade storage scrolls could only hold a limited amount of items and thus fell far short of what one might call a true pebble-sized space. Many cultivators believed that more advanced spatial techniques were simply impossible to manifest in the mortal realm, being entirely beyond the reach of mortal cultivators and reserved exclusively for those from the higher realms. This belief was nearly taken for granted in the southern sky. Yet now, upon hearing Wang Elder's words, it seemed that the Great Jin dynasty had already mastered the art of refining space rifts as far back as over a thousand years ago—an achievement that left Han Li utterly stunned. "No need to be so surprised, Brother Han." "This so-called 'millet-seed space' isn't as profound as you think—it's merely a coincidence." The elder named Fu suddenly smiled. "Fu brother is right. To most people, a millet-seed space is really just a mere afterthought, a culinary side dish. It's extremely difficult to create, and once created, it comes with numerous limitations, making it practically unapplicable. In fact, across the entire Dajin realm, there are only about a dozen such spaces. And among them, the one here at our hall is among the earliest to emerge." Wang the Elder chuckled. "The earliest, you mean? Then...?" Han Li's brow furrowed, showing some surprise. "Indeed, this secret technique was accidentally developed by several of our master artisans specializing in alchemy. Today, only two of our master artisans in the hall possess the skill to create such millet-seed spaces. In fact, the techniques of the Tianji House and Tianji Prefecture were themselves developed based on further research inspired by this millet-seed space alchemy." "Master Wang didn't intend to hide anything—he had actually shared everything in full detail." "Ah, now I understand. I'd truly like to witness the wonders of this Ji Zi space firsthand," replied Han Li, regaining his composure and smiling. "Master Wang, please take Han Dao to the Ji Zi space. I've already visited it and won't be joining them. I still need to attend to this Chi Jing Zhi mushroom first, so I'll be off now," the wealthy elder bowed formally to the two, stating his departure with earnestness. "Since Master Fu has other matters, I won't detain you any longer. We'll meet again soon," said Master Wang, bowing in return. Yet, Han Li heard the elder whisper a few final instructions—reminding him not to miss the final day of the underground trade fair. Han Li nodded casually to the elder without paying close attention. Then, the elder promptly stepped out of the hall and descended the stairs with decisive steps. "Master Han, let's go then. The Ji Zi space is right behind the attic—just a short walk away." Only after turning around, Wang elder smiled warmly at Han Li and said. Then, with a casual sweep of his sleeve, the larger jade box instantly vanished from the table. Han Li naturally didn't hesitate, and followed Wang elder through a series of strict seals to a small open space behind the pavilion. In the center of this open space, Han Li found a strange teleportation array he had never seen before. Clearly more complex and larger than a typical teleportation array. Han Li furrowed his brows, slightly surprised. "To reach the Ji Zi space, one can only access it through this teleportation array," Wang elder seemed to sense Han Li's confusion and explained. "We need to use the teleportation array? Does that mean the space rift, which has been specially crafted, is fixed in one location?" Han Li's lips twitched, his mind filled with astonishment. Yet, as this clearly involved a refined magical technique, he wasn't sure how to directly ask questions. It was only after seeing Wang elder step into the array first that he hesitated slightly before following suit. At that moment, he realized that the seven or eight spiritual stones surrounding the teleportation array were all mid-tier stones. Simply entering the rice-grain space required seven or eight hundred low-tier stones. If they had to teleport back out as well, the round trip would cost over a thousand stones—something that was truly not something ordinary cultivators could afford. As Han Li pondered this in his mind, a sudden surge of white light erupted from the spiritual stones surrounding the array, and the two of them vanished instantly within it. After a moment of dizziness and disorientation, Han Li and his companion appeared on a slope of scattered stones, beneath a teleportation array that was nearly identical to the one they had entered. Han Li steadied himself and looked up around him. Before him stretched a space of over a thousand zhang, covered entirely in white stones. Yet scattered throughout were numerous stone pits of varying sizes—some as large as ten zhang, others only a few zhang in diameter—arranged in a haphazard, chaotic manner. Han Li took a deep breath and began to wonder to himself. Not only was there not a single trace of green in this space, but no trace of spiritual energy could be detected either. The sky appeared gray and hazy—clearly a place of death. "I'm sure you've already realized, Brother Han, that this space is essentially a place where life has completely vanished. Space rifts that naturally harbor spiritual energy veins are exceedingly rare—indeed, one in a thousand. To find a sanctuary like Ling Miao Garden, renowned for its superior spiritual energy surpassing even the human world, is simply beyond imagination. Since our great Jin Dynasty's cultivation realm first discovered such rifts, only a handful of them have been found to contain even a trace of spiritual energy, and even these are far less dense in spiritual energy than the lands of the human world. Yet, even these discovered rifts—those that have been identified—have all subsequently sought our Hall's assistance in refining them into miniature, self-contained spaces." After stepping out of the teleportation array, Elder Wang smiled and spoke to Han. "So, it seems that beyond saving space and allowing free entry and exit, this miniature space offers no other particularly valuable advantages." "It's no wonder, after all these years I've been here, I've never heard anyone mention the world within a grain of mustard seed." Han Li stroked his chin, speaking with a strange expression on his face. "That's not quite accurate. For certain sects that wish to store large, valuable items, accumulate vast quantities of materials, or even establish secure retreat rooms for emergencies, grain-of-mustard-seed spaces remain the ideal choice. Even for our Tianji Pavilion, which uses them as testing grounds for artifacts and divine tools, they are quite suitable. The scarcity of such spaces stems primarily from the difficulty in finding suitable space rifts. Originally, there aren't many known rifts in the world, and among those, only a few are located in ideal positions and are known exclusively to certain sects. Furthermore, the cost of materials required to create these grain-of-mustard-seed spaces is extraordinarily high. Combined with these factors, the rarity of such spaces is understandable." Elder Wang explained hurriedly, somewhat embarrassed. "Even so." Your esteemed sect's conception of such a space—capable of being freely manipulated and even carried about—differs greatly from what I originally imagined. The need to set up transmission arrays every time one enters or exits is quite disappointing. It truly falls short of what we call the "Musti Space" concept. Han Li sighed, expressing a sense of regret. "How is it, Friend Han, that you're also aware of such a crack?" the silver-robed cultivator's expression shifted slightly, expressing mild surprise. "Hehe, at a certain overseas location, I discovered such a crack. As for whether it's collapsed or not—I haven't yet been able to enter, nor do I fully know. All I can say is that the entrance seems somewhat unstable." Han smiled slightly and replied vaguely. Naturally, the silver-robed cultivator sensed Han's reluctance to elaborate further and, instead of pressing the matter, merely waved his hand. The jade box containing the Tianji Mansion appeared in his palm. "Then I'll release the Tianji Mansion," said the elder with a warm smile. "You may enter and inspect its arrangements. If you find it satisfactory, we can proceed with the transaction." "Very well, Elder Wang," Han nodded and replied. "Please go ahead and cast your spell." At hearing this, the silver-robed cultivator no longer hesitated. He extended his hand and grasped the jade box, opening it to reveal a soft, milky white glow within—faintly taking the shape of something tangible. Before Han Li could fully examine the contents, Elder Wang began muttering incantations, gently shaking the box. Instantly, a sphere of white light shot out and surged upward, expanding rapidly in the wind. After a spiral motion, it transformed into a vast, cloud-like formation several acres in size, within which white jade buildings and pavilions appeared subtly visible. With both hands forming gestures and a low exclamation, he pointed toward the sky. The white mist resonated with a deep hum and then suddenly settled onto the ground. A tremendous roar echoed through the myriad beams of light, and there, on the open space beneath the slope, a complete, fully jade-constructed dwelling emerged. Han Li's eyes widened slightly, and he carefully studied the structure with his hands behind his back. This refined dwelling, though elegant, appeared notably smaller than ordinary ones. Yet within, pavilions and courtyards were complete, and the entire complex was enveloped in a luminous white aura, making it appear as ethereal and dreamlike as a celestial villa. After gazing at it for a moment, Han Li's form shimmered and instantly transformed into a streak of jade-green light, shooting straight forward. Seeing this, the Elder Wang quickly flipped his palm, producing a white jade token in his hand. He then gently waved the token in front of the cave dwelling below, and as he did so, the outer white veil suddenly dissolved and vanished. Han Li's jade-green streak encountered no obstruction, smoothly entering the cave dwelling, where his form soon became invisible.
