What is this? Can it truly be that this person has transformed into a high-tier immortal beast? Otherwise, how could humans develop a third eye? The two young girls and boys were stunned. As they were about to turn to their fellow disciples to warn them, the young man suddenly turned his head. A streak of dark light burst forth from his third, beastly eye and vanished instantly. At that moment, a deep, resonant rumble echoed through the air nearby. A flash of white light followed, and suddenly, a figure materialized out of the void, only a few dozen paces away from the young man. Upon closer inspection, this figure appeared to be an elderly man in his sixties, with a triangular braid of hair, bare feet, and a long, horse-like face—remarkably striking. Yet as soon as the elder appeared, he remained silent and raised his hand sharply, gripping the figure across from him with a firm motion. A ripple of space unfolded, and instantly, a translucent, pale-yellow hand emerged above the young man’s head, reaching down and seizing the figure with lightning speed.
Yet the young one seemed well-prepared. With only a subtle flutter of his wings, he vanished in mid-air, leaving behind a streak of jade-green light. The next moment, he appeared at a nearby location, his expression now deeply somber.
"Wind Elder! You've pursued me for over a month now, knowing full well that you cannot contain me. Why do you persist? What is your intention?" He raised his brows sharply, his voice thunderous, resonating like a series of thunderclaps in the surrounding air.
The lower-tier cultivators who had been observing the scene below were caught off guard, turning upward in astonishment. Their ears rang with a deafening buzz, and many staggered, falling to the ground. Some of the less proficient ones fainted outright, their eyes rolling back.
Only a few with protective artifacts or higher-level Qi cultivation could maintain a semblance of awareness. Even they were weak and boneless, unable to rise, and could only manage to tilt their heads slightly, struggling to gaze upward at the "senior master" in the sky, their faces pale as paper.
These alert monastics naturally included the young couple who had first observed the unusual phenomenon in the sky. Like their peers, they all quietly groaned under the weight of their growing anxiety. Normally, encountering a senior cultivator would be a rare and precious opportunity—one they would have welcomed with open arms. But when two senior cultivators were engaged in a fierce struggle, the situation reversed entirely, as if a great calamity had befallen them. The young disciples, thus, all grew visibly apprehensive. Though they had never personally witnessed a battle between senior cultivators, they had heard such accounts from their senior mentors on numerous occasions. Whenever anyone spoke of it, they would emphasize again and again that the young disciples must flee as far as possible, as soon as possible. Should they be caught in the powerful effects of the clash between the two senior cultivators, they would surely meet with certain doom.
To the higher-ranked cultivators, the lower-tier Qi Condensation stage practitioners were no more than mere ants—never worthy of any consideration or hesitation.
"Hmph. You may have killed others, but to extinguish my descendant right before me, in front of my very eyes—how can I simply let that pass? I don’t believe a mere Yuan婴 stage cultivator can hold out much longer. I’ll sacrifice over a decade of my life’s vitality to secure your capture and hold you accountable." The elder with a broad, square face spoke with fierce intensity, then pointed his finger distantly. The translucent yellow hand, spinning gracefully, transformed into a beam of yellow light and struck toward Han Li once more.
The elder with the horse-faced appearance, however, turned out to be a tremendous hassle that韩立 had inadvertently created during the final confrontation when he slew the last senior disciple of Yin Luo Sect. This man was actually a Yuan-Shen stage cultivator with some connection to that senior disciple. Reflecting on the matter,韩立 himself felt deeply regretful—how had he, by some strange coincidence, chosen this particular individual? If he had instead sought out other senior disciples of Yin Luo Sect to compete for the Gui Luo Banner, this entire issue could have been entirely avoided. At the time, the wind-elder was actually walking together with the Yin Luo senior disciple, and his displayed cultivation level appeared only at the Yuan-En stage.韓立 had not noticed any irregularities and thus did not give this man much thought. Immediately after designing a plan to summon the Yin Luo Sect's chief elder, the horse-faced elder unexpectedly arrived at the very scene where韓立 was about to strike, just in time to witness him execute the decisive sword stroke that severed the senior disciple's life. As a result, the horse-faced elder instantly erupted in fury, revealing his remarkable Yuan-Shen stage cultivation, and immediately launched an attack.
Had it not been for Han Li's Wind-Thunder Wings and the Nine Transformations of the Swift Wind being truly remarkable, he might have indeed fallen victim to this Cultivator at the stage of Transformation. After his heart raced with surprise, he naturally immediately activated his Wind-Thunder Transcendence to make a swift retreat. Otherwise, according to his original plan, even if Yin Luo Sect summoned all its external elders back to the sect, he might have remained hidden near the sect for several months, waiting for any further opportunities. But now, unexpectedly encountering a Cultivator at the stage of Transformation, he promptly abandoned this plan and fled—thus inadvertently giving Yin Luo Sect a moment of breathing room. With his current situation, a Cultivator at the stage of Transformation had become his sole concern. Unexpectedly, however, a situation that frustrated Han Li arose: the Yin Luo Sect cultivator who had been killed seemed to have a close connection with the bearded elder, who, despite expending considerable vital energy, pursued him relentlessly.
Yet his evasive technique, though slightly inferior to Fenglei Du, proved quite comparable under the enhancement of his Huashen stage cultivation. Unbeknownst to him, the opponent had somehow manipulated him—whenever he managed to distance himself and attempt to conceal, the foe would soon reappear with precise accuracy. Han Li hurriedly examined himself repeatedly, but found no anomalies. This only deepened his apprehension toward Feng Laoqiu, prompting him to adopt a strategy of attrition. Fully aware of the limitations imposed by the Huashen stage, he resolved to rely on his millennia-old elixir of life, gradually draining the opponent's spiritual energy until he could finally escape. However, after fifteen days, Han Li found himself at a loss. It seemed that the bearded elder, too, possessed a millennium-old elixir, enabling him to traverse several provinces in tandem with Han Li—yet his own spiritual vitality remained unchanged, showing no signs of depletion.
Yet, given the Flower Deity cultivator's status, it was no uncommon feat for him to carry a thousand-year-old elixir. In fact, he had nearly several times been genuinely blocked by the other, forced to use his treasures to maintain a temporary advantage before slipping away again. During these repeated encounters, Han Li, as he did now, naturally attempted to persuade the other to abandon his pursuit, recognizing that the latter was clearly not a disciple of Yin Luo Sect and need not necessarily fight to the death. However, this bearded elder, who called himself the "Wind Old Oddity," had grown increasingly frustrated and embarrassed by his persistent failure to catch up, and thus, without any regard for compromise, outright rejected Han Li's proposals, instead delivering several threats that would have him surrender early and endure some hardship. Han Li simply stared at these remarks, visibly exasperated, and paid them no further attention. Thus, after several days of alternating pursuit and evasion, the two finally arrived at this location.
At last, Han Li came to a halt, deciding to engage this Fushen cultivator directly and assess just how much gap there was between himself and such a cultivator. He would make the Fushen cultivator understand that even if he were to be slain, the spiritual essence expended would be utterly beyond the cultivator's capacity to bear. Naturally, the Fushen cultivator would then abandon the pursuit. After all, should Han Li continue to rely so frequently on his Wind and Thunder Wings, the divine, purifying lightning stored within his Qingzhu Honey Cloud Sword would soon run out, bringing real trouble. Of course, Han Li was unaware that the very "Wind Old Master" now stepping forward, though deeply astonished and enraged, was also quietly troubled—deeply troubled—by the same issue. Han Li's vastly superior spiritual power, far beyond that of an ordinary late Yuanjing cultivator, was obvious to the elder, and completely unmaskable. Yet what truly troubled the elder most was Han Li's unusual and mysterious Wind and Thunder Wing flight technique.
This "Wind Old Sage" boasts of his elusiveness as no ordinary skill, yet despite his stage of spiritual mastery, he repeatedly fails to contain the younger disciple, who calmly withdraws right before his eyes on several occasions. This leaves the broad-faced elder truly at a loss. To be precise, the slain senior from Yin Luo Sect did not share particularly close ties with him—only a close descendant, though naturally, given his longevity, he was unaware of how many generations of descendants had come after him. However, upon hearing that several of the Sect's Yuan婴 senior elders were being targeted, the descendant assumed it was some other Sheng Shen cultivator at work. He immediately came to seek refuge at the elder's feet, pleading for protection. As he was one of the few descendants still aware of his existence, the elder found it hard to refuse, and thus, with a touch of compassion, agreed. In his estimation, there were only a few Sheng Shen cultivators in the Dai Jin realm—no matter which one the Yin Luo Sect had offended, they would surely open their ranks against the Sect's senior leaders, and thus, by courtesy, would not dare to harm his own descendants.
For this purpose, he specially employed a unique secret technique on his nephew, one that the other several familiar Chuan-Shen cultivators could immediately recognize. At the same time, he dispatched messengers to inquire among them exactly which of their colleagues had launched the attack on Yin Luo Sect. After completing all this, he concealed his own cultivation level with the secret technique, intending to protect his junior and return him safely to the sect, after which he would completely set this matter aside. As for the fate of Yin Luo Sect, what did it matter to him? Unbelievably, the elderly man with a horse-faced appearance was stunned when, due to a momentary lapse of attention, he was personally struck down by Han Li, who unexpectedly severed the life of the Yin Luo Sect elder right before his eyes. If it had been any other Chuan-Shen cultivator, the elderly man would have merely endured, since at their level, a direct confrontation often meant a significant loss of life span. However, upon seeing that Han Li, who only possessed late Yuan-Ying stage cultivation, had delivered the decisive blow, the fiery and proud Feng elder immediately erupted in rage.
He immediately intended to strike and eliminate Han Li right away. Yet Han Li's elusiveness and divine powers far exceeded his expectations. Despite pursuing him for nearly a month without success, he had not only lost several years of his life span, but also been forced to use half of the precious liquid he had painstakingly acquired over a thousand years. If he now let Han Li go, the elderly man with the horse-like face would find himself stuck between a rock and a hard place—unable to let go of his lingering resentment—while at the same time, being increasingly drawn by the remarkable array of treasures Han Li had consecutively summoned and deployed.
