At the very instant the black lightning struck Han Li, he only felt the surroundings slightly blur. Fortunately, being exceptionally familiar with teleportation, as soon as his form emerged from the transit, he immediately suppressed the dizziness, chanted a spell to restore his human shape, and at the same time, flicked his sleeve. A hazy glow surged forth, instantly shielding both himself and the graceful woman still recovering from the shock. Only then did he carefully survey his surroundings. He found they stood upon a lofty platform constructed entirely of fine jade. Surrounding the platform stood over a dozen slender stone pillars of a deep green hue, each intricately carved, with subtle runes flowing and shimmering across their surfaces. The platform itself was thus a small magical array. As these pillars pulsed, they formed a thick, ethereal veil of white mist, completely enveloping the entire platform. Beyond this veil, however, dense black fog rolled continuously, obscuring everything from view. Fortunately, all the fog was completely blocked outside.
Looking upward, the scene was exactly the same. Han Li's brow furrowed slightly. "Brother Han, where exactly are we?" Finally recovering from the disorientation of the teleportation, the graceful woman took in the strange surroundings and her face paled slightly. "It seems we've been drawn to some other place by that ghostly mist." Han Li, however, remained remarkably composed. "Isn't this supposed to be the land of the River of the Dead?" Hearing this, the woman brightened. "That's hard to say. But based on my past experiences with teleportation, this doesn't seem like a long-distance or cross-boundary journey—rather, we should still be within the land of the River of the Dead." Han Li shook his head, speaking with caution. Upon hearing this, the woman's face fell, but then suddenly remembered something, and gasped in alarm. "No! Yuan sister is still outside the black mist and hasn't arrived here either. We've surely lost contact with her!" "My friend, don't worry. With Yuan's sharp intelligence, even if she were alone, she would surely manage without any trouble."
After all, we must first figure out where we are. As long as we haven't left the realm of the River of Souls, finding Yuan Dao友 won't be difficult at all," Han Li said in a low, steady tone. Upon hearing this, the graceful woman's anxiety slightly eased. "Since we entered the Dao path until now, I and my younger sister have rarely been apart. It's only recently that I haven't seen Yuan sister, and thus I've been a bit at a loss—please don't mind my awkwardness, Han brother." "It's nothing," Han Li replied with a gentle smile. "Yan Dao-you and Yuan Yuan have always shared a deep sisterly bond, which is quite natural. Still, even if we're worried about Yuan Dao-you, we must first attend to our own matters." He chuckled, then glanced around, and in a few steps, moved close to a stone pillar. He narrowed his eyes, studying the characters inscribed upon it, then turned his gaze toward the outer edge of the light screen. A subtle blue glow flickered in his eyes, instantly activating his Qingming Lingmu spiritual sight. Though the black mist was exceptionally dense, his spiritual vision pierced through it completely, revealing the scene within
Han Li's expression changed slightly, and he murmured, "Hmm."
"Have you noticed anything, Han brother?" Yanli approached, concerned.
"Besides the high platform where we currently stand, there are six other identical buildings nearby, arranged in a circle. Moreover, it seems as though we're situated within the mountain's core." Han Li took a deep breath and spoke slowly.
"Within the mountain's core! If we haven't yet left the land of Ming He, who would build such structures here?" Yanli furrowed her brows, murmuring in thought.
"That is indeed hard to fathom. But what I'd truly like to know is how this person controls the ghost mist, transporting us here seemingly out of nowhere. Perhaps there's some connection to the Luo Hua beast." Han Li also seemed uncertain, expressing his own doubts.
"Simply guessing at random won't help us make any clear judgment. Yet we can't simply remain here, waiting passively." Yanli sighed and asked.
"Of course not. Who knows whether the master of this place is benevolent or malevolent?"
This protective shield could also be described as a prison. We should leave here first. I just examined the inscriptions on the pillars—how profound they are! With my current knowledge of array magic, I can only understand half of them. I’ll have to rely on sheer force to break through. Han Li said this firmly, stroking his chin. "Indeed, this seal is remarkably intricate. My younger sister once studied array magic as well. I’d like to take a closer look too." Yan Li paused thoughtfully, then spoke with confidence. "Ah, if Miss Yan truly manages to unravel this seal, that would be wonderful." Han Li was momentarily surprised, then smiled and stepped aside. Yan Li didn’t hesitate, immediately approaching the pillars, focusing intently. As her gaze shifted, she became completely absorbed by the inscriptions. Meanwhile, Han Li kept his hands behind his back, carefully surveying the areas beyond the light curtain, his eyes occasionally flashing with thoughtful expressions.
After a cup of tea, Yanli exhaled, her face pale as she shifted her gaze, offering a weak smile to Han Li: "I'm sorry to have troubled you. The seal is far more intricate than I anticipated. I have no idea what to do—perhaps I'm truly helpless."
"Never mind," Han Li replied, seemingly unbothered, as if he had expected this all along. With a slight shake of his sleeve, a clear chime rang out, and a golden sword, barely an inch long, shot forth.
The sword spiraled once above Han Li's head before lengthening into a three-foot-long blade, glowing brilliantly with a sharp, piercing coldness.
"Go!" Han Li pointed at the white light screen before him and murmured.
At once, a flash of golden light above his head caused the sword to surge forward like a streak of brilliant lightning, striking the screen with great force.
A deep thud echoed, and as golden and white light flickered, the radiant streak revealed itself and was then forcefully rebounded back.
Han Li's face paled as he quickly raised his finger, repositioning his flying sword in midair. Though he had suspected this light curtain was no ordinary phenomenon, he had never anticipated its such remarkable resilience—seeming completely unaffected by the Qingzhu Fengyun sword. At the side, the graceful woman stared in astonishment, and without hesitation, opened her mouth and expelled a black banana fan, striking it hard against the curtain. Dark flames surged forth, yet the same scene unfolded. As soon as the flames touched the curtain, they instantly bounced back under a shimmering layer of white light, utterly unable to penetrate it. The woman drew in a sharp breath. "How formidable this seal is—so difficult to breach!" Han Li paused thoughtfully, then lifted one arm, revealing a palm as dark as ink. With his fingers spread apart, he pressed firmly against the curtain. Almost instantly, a surge of gray mist erupted from his hands.
The seemingly unshakable glow began to hum softly after the gray mist rolled over it. Ripples and waves spread across the surface of the light barrier. Han Li's lips curled into a smile. Indeed, as he had expected, any seal incorporating the Five Elements could not fail to respond to the Yuanmagnetic Divine Light. With this thought in mind, Han Li summoned all his inner qi, causing the radiance in his hands to grow increasingly brilliant and intense, and the waves on the white light barrier to intensify dramatically. The entire light barrier began to warp and distort, twisting and reshaping around the center of his palm. Seeing this, the graceful woman widened her eyes, her face bright with astonishment. Though she had witnessed Han Li employ the Yuanmagnetic Divine Light before and knew its power was substantial, she had never imagined it could achieve such remarkable results in breaking down seals. After a brief moment, a deep resonant sound echoed through the air, and the light barrier finally cracked and shattered into fragments. The surrounding black mist immediately surged inward, rolling onto the jade platform.
Han Li, without hesitation, leapt once more, transforming into a large green peacock that soared upward. Yan Li, already prepared, flicked her long green feather, causing it to emit a swirl of green light that enveloped her, and she too rose into the air, following closely behind Han Li.
Han Li had previously observed the surroundings carefully, so upon transforming into the peacock, he immediately took off toward a specific direction within the black mist.
After a few swift movements, the view suddenly brightened, and a new barrier of green and yellow hues appeared.
Yet Han Li instantly recognized this barrier as a simple, albeit unusual, separation spell. Thus, the peacock extended one claw and struck downward.
A crisp "crack" echoed as the barrier was easily torn apart.
Han Li shifted slightly and stepped onto a patch of stone on the other side of the barrier, then instantly reformed into human shape, standing firm.
Yan Li remained close, stepping down to the ground beside him.
Han Li promptly turned to look back.
To their surprise, the originally ruptured jade-green barrier instantly sealed itself once more, once again isolating the black mist that had sought to follow. Han Li finally felt a slight relief in his heart. At that moment, Yan Li softly exclaimed, "Hm, Han brother, there's an entrance right here! Shall we go in and take a look?"
Upon hearing this, Han Li stiffened, quickly turning to the direction Yan Li indicated. There, several dozen paces away, a channel glowing with a milky white radiance was visible on a face of smooth green stone. Han Li raised an eyebrow, then carefully scanned the surroundings. It began to dawn on him.
They had actually found themselves on a projecting platform of a sheer cliff, while the several jade platforms lay beneath this cliff.
Looking at the entrance, Han Li did not immediately proceed. Instead, he paused to think, then gently flicked his fingers outward from his sleeve.
"Pop! Pop!" Two golden blossoms shot forth.
After a spiraling motion, it transformed into two golden beetle-like creatures, each about the size of a clenched fist, and shot straight toward the entrance. Han Li then settled down on the ground, closing his eyes and remaining silent. Yanli, observing this, realized that Han Li was truly using the insects to investigate the interior of the cave, and thus quietly waited by his side. After a full meal's worth of time, Han Li suddenly turned pale and sprang up, his eyes widening in surprise. "Unfortunate! There are people inside the cave, and their cultivation level is truly profound. My spiritual insects were easily captured and sealed to death by them." As soon as Han Li finished speaking, a deep, elderly voice resonated from all around. "I've always wondered why the Seven Gates Sealing Yin Array has encountered a minor issue. It seems a guest has arrived at the estate. Since both of you have come this far, why not enter the cave and have a chat?"
