"Very well, can you find out where that person has gone?"
"Of course. Although these individuals have employed their techniques to conceal their spiritual energy, under the prevailing atmosphere of lingering magical aura, any external observer's presence simply cannot be fully masked. That person has gone in that direction! However, their energy signature has grown very faint—indicating they've been walking for some time. Moreover, due to the rapid flow of magical energy at high altitudes, I'm not certain I can truly follow them along this path." The woman spoke honestly.
"Hmph! So utterly useless!" The elder grew visibly irritated upon hearing this.
Yet the woman remained helpless, standing still with a look of resignation.
At that moment, another towering male figure from the ground also rose into the air, swiftly gliding to join the woman beside her. After performing a deep bow to the sky, he said:
"Report to the Master: I have extracted the fragmented soul from the younger one and, using a secret technique, reconstructed the appearance of the murderer."
"Release him! Show me!" The elder commanded, his voice sharp and commanding.
The tall man nodded, shook his sleeve, and instantly a glowing sphere composed of interwoven gray mist and black light shot out, spiraling before hovering motionless above his head. With both hands, he chanted incantations, launching a series of spells toward the sphere above. "Pfft!" The sphere burst open, revealing a dim, half-figured silhouette floating in the air. The figure wore a green robe, shimmering with golden light, and had an ordinary face. A deep black glow pulsed subtly across his forehead, with a single dark eye embedded in his brow. As that eye moved slightly, black radiance rippled and shifted, appearing strangely unnatural... This figure was none other than Han Li! "Boom!" Within just a few breaths, the silhouette burst and dissolved. "The Eye of Annihilation! Excellent! Indeed, it must be him. Only the Eye of Annihilation's spatial spellbinding technique could have disrupted my son's instantaneous escape path. We shall depart immediately.
Upon clearly seeing the third eye in Han Li’s brow and aura, the elder instantly gritted his teeth and said, "Pardon my rudeness, but shall I personally go after this man?" The man with the great horns hesitated and added a question. "Do you think my orders are unclear?" The elder’s voice was unusually grave. "No, indeed! But has the master forgotten the reason for this particular departure? The immortal’s avatar relies on this surge of magical energy to fully awaken. Should the master delay, and the iron demons make their voices heard before the immortal, there may be serious trouble." The giant dragon man paused and spoke. "Hmph! The iron demons!" The elder gave a sharp exhalation, though it seemed dismissive, yet clearly hesitated. "Then this way—Nine Night, you are skilled at tracking and following hidden figures. No matter what you do, find these three and keep them firmly in sight. I will go first to welcome the immortal’s emergence."
After this, I'll join you and avenge my son. If, when I come to look for you, you haven't yet found these three, then what fate awaits you—I'm sure you know well enough. The elder's face clouded and shifted in mood for a while before he finally, reluctantly, decided. "Understood!" The woman's expression changed instantly, yet she promptly bowed and agreed. "Five tears, let's go." The elder said no more to the woman, simply giving a command to the horned man. At that moment, a massive hand, covered in green scales, emerged from the clouds, flashed once, and somehow caught the scattered corpses floating in the misty sea, then swiftly retracted back into the clouds. "Yes, Master!" The horned man bowed respectfully and instantly transformed into a crimson glow, vanishing swiftly into the dark clouds. Soon after, a deep rumbling sound echoed from within the clouds, and the mass of dark clouds rolled steadily in a new direction. In a moment, the scene was left with only the woman with the pointed ears.
When the distant black clouds finally vanished without a trace at the horizon, the woman curled her fluffy, slender tail behind her and lifted her head. Her dark brows were tightly furrowed, clearly finding the elder's command exceedingly challenging. Yet, after a light sigh, she scanned the surroundings, confirmed her direction, and then moved with a fluid motion, instantly transforming into a streak of silver light that shot off into the distance. However, after the silver light had traveled over a hundred paces, it suddenly flickered, growing increasingly hazy and dim. Finally, with a final shimmer, the silver light completely dissolved into the void.
The young man, with Huashen cultivation and in his thirties, couldn't help but ask the other. "Though my divination skills may not guarantee a success rate of one hundred percent, they at least hold a one-in-five accuracy—my predictions have consistently pointed toward this direction over several consecutive attempts." The middle-aged man, with a wan, thin face, only gazed steadily at the scroll in his hands, responding without lifting his eyes. "A one-in-five chance isn't exactly high," the young man sighed, clearly disheartened. "Hmph," he muttered, as the two of them just then passed by two particularly tall mountains. These mountains were no different from the ones they had seen earlier—dark and uniform in appearance—yet their surfaces were exceptionally smooth, devoid of any vegetation, composed entirely of stone. Thus, neither had paid much attention, until, as they were about to glide swiftly between them, an unexpected event occurred. One of the mountains suddenly burst open on the side facing them, and a massive black blade, stretching dozens of zhangs in length, flashed forth and severed through the air.
"Aha!" The middle-aged man, thin and frail, was startled, quickly opening his mouth and spitting out a pale, hazy shield. This shield merely trembled before expanding into a massive expanse several dozen feet wide, standing firmly in front of him. Yet the next instant, a surge of black light swept down. With a deep, resonant crash, the middle-aged man and the shield before him vanished as if turned to mist—completely unable to withstand the black light at all. Yet strangely, despite the black light's fierce and overwhelming force, it touched not a single hair of the young man beside him. The light brushed past him almost closely, then plunged into the misty sea below. Immediately, a deep rumbling sound echoed through the mist, as though a colossal blade had cleaved through the heavens, splitting the sea in two. A vast chasm, stretching over a dozen zhang in width and extending endlessly into the distance, now revealed itself. Within, the darkness seemed profound and unending.
Though the young man had already reached the stage of Transformation into Immortal, he clearly hadn't engaged in many battles. It wasn't until now that a look of apprehension appeared on his face, whereupon he hurriedly pressed a series of hand seals, transforming his body into a streak of white light that shot off in the direction of his origin.
Though seemingly odd, the sheer size of this beast, spanning across the mountain peaks, made it profoundly imposing. Among the peaks that had previously emitted a great expanse of dark light, one figure of about three or four zhang in height slowly emerged. Closer inspection revealed that the figure was a man with broad, thick brows, appearing sturdy and earnest. He wore a layer of green battle armor, yet behind him, a pair of dark, flesh-like wings fluttered gently. These wings were exceptionally large—when fully extended, they reached several zhang in width—smooth and devoid of any feathers, yet densely adorned with shimmering silver glyphs that pulsed continuously. From a distance, the wings seemed to sparkle with scattered stars, exuding an aura of mystery.
Now is the crucial period for the Emperor's awakening. I don't want any unforeseen disturbances to arise. If there are any, they must be settled immediately," the giant-winged being said calmly. "The Emperor has already arranged with the top-tier spirits of the spiritual realm to allow them to enter this place. It's quite natural that someone should appear here," the massive creature hummed. "Alright, Giant Toad! Quickly employ your soul-absorbing technique to break down and digest the soul of the one you've swallowed. I need to confirm whether they are truly just ordinary spirit hunters!" the giant-winged man ordered coldly. "Yes, sir!" Seeing the man growing impatient, the giant creature immediately fell silent, closing his eyes with a swift flick. Instantly, a shimmering, five-colored aura flowed continuously over the creature's body, while several black runes appeared in the surrounding void and swiftly rotated around its massive form.
After a full cup of tea's worth of time, as the giant toad roared loudly, all the black runes vanished into its body, and its massive eyes snapped open once more.
"Report, sir," said the toad, its voice oddly strange, as if even this revelation had surprised it. "We've now discovered the reason they came here—they were searching for a wounded Zhixin!"
"Zhixin?" The man with broad wings seemed puzzled.
"It's a spirit-mushroom that can transform into human form!" explained the toad.
"A spirit-mushroom that can transform into human form! Truly? You're not mistaken, are you?" The man's body shook with astonishment, and then a look of joyful excitement spread across his face.
"I've fully absorbed this person's spiritual essence—there's no possibility of error. Do you find this of interest as well, sir?" The toad, with its large hands, rubbed its head thoughtfully, now somewhat bewildered.
"Hmm, our ancient magical beings in the realm of the ancient demons—the form-shifting Magi-Pho—have you heard of them?"
This Zhixin is exactly the thing that serves the same purpose! If I could only reach it... The man with the massive wings brightened up, his eyes gleaming.
