According to the records he found in the classics, the so-called "True Spirit Origin" is the residual chaotic qi that separated off when the true spirit beings were first born in the heavens and earth. Even for ordinary people, consuming it would yield truly astonishing effects—though they might not evolve into true spirit beings of the same origin, they could certainly undergo a complete transformation, making significant gains in cultivation and advancing to the combined body stage. Considering the already scarce number of true spirits in the spiritual realm, one can easily grasp just how rare the True Spirit Origin is. Furthermore, over the years, some of these origins have been discovered and consumed by powerful cultivators from various clans, so the number of True Spirit Origins still existing within the spiritual realm today is undoubtedly very limited. As the classics describe, the True Spirit Origin originally exists as a gas, but due to its exceptionally potent origin energy, it cannot be quickly assimilated by others once consumed. Consequently, after a certain period of time, it naturally coalesces into crystalline particles within the body of the cultivator.
These grains contain a true essence qi far beyond what was previously imagined, and the time required to fully refine them varies significantly depending on the individual's constitution—ranging from several decades to several centuries. When Han Li read this, he was overjoyed, yet the subsequent explanation immediately cooled his enthusiasm. The text then stated that once the true essence source had crystallized, it signified that the recipient's own qi had fully assimilated it, rendering it incapable of being absorbed and refined by any other person. Should others forcibly draw upon the essence within, the crystalline grains would revert to ordinary natural qi and return to the realm of heaven and earth. It further emphasized that this assimilation was exceptionally thorough and irreversible, urging those who obtained the source essence to bear this point in mind. Upon reading the entire explanation, Han Li was completely stunned. He now stared intently at the true essence crystals drifting from the small vial before him, his expression complex and bewildered.
"The book might not necessarily be correct—it merely suggests we give it a try." After a moment of hesitation, Han Li murmured with growing determination. Then, suddenly, he pressed a hand seal with one hand and pointed his other finger at the crystal grain in the air. "Pffft!" A strand of silvery green light shot forth, swiftly spiraling and enveloping the crystal grain. Han Li then cast a series of consecutive hand seals, each one flowing into the radiant glow. The crystal grain suddenly trembled and spun rapidly, its hue shifting continuously. Initially transparent, it first turned a pale red, then deepened into a dark, ink-black color. Finally, with a flash of inner light, it transformed into a brilliant golden hue. Seeing this, Han Li narrowed his eyes and changed his hand seals instantly. The glowing filament suddenly revealed numerous characters, which spiraled around and danced around the crystal grain, forming within a moment a miniature magical array.
The golden crystal grains precisely occupied the very center of the spell array. Upon seeing this, Han Li opened his mouth and released a slender streak of jade infant flame, which vanished instantly and was absorbed into the miniature spell array. A deep resonance echoed, and the entire spell array burst into radiant light, seamlessly integrating the jade flame into its structure. Immediately thereafter, slender streaks of jade flame erupted simultaneously from various points of the array, enveloping the crystal grains and beginning to incinerate them. As the jade flames swayed and danced, the golden crystal initially remained still. Yet as time passed, the surface of the crystal began to shimmer, growing progressively brighter until it emitted a soft, low hum. Han Li's expression darkened upon observing this development, still before he could adjust his hand gestures, a deep rumble resonated from within the array. To his astonishment, the crystal suddenly vanished from its original position, replaced by a golden, egg-sized mist.
This golden mist spun rapidly downward, emitting a thunderous, astonishing sound. Then it surged suddenly, expanding dozens of times in size to reach several zhang in diameter, and continued to swell uncontrollably. The surrounding green flames and luminous halos were instantly stretched and burst apart. The golden mist now appeared unstable, clearly losing control and threatening to explode at any moment. Han Li, upon realizing the terrifying power contained within, immediately grew pale. Without hesitation, he suddenly turned his hand black as ink and reached out, grasping the golden cloud with a powerful motion. A series of sharp crackling sounds echoed as the air was pierced. Gray light erupted from his fingertips, flashing briefly to form a solid gray luminous veil, completely enclosing the golden mist within. Whenever the gray light and golden glow briefly interwove, a deep, resonant rumble echoed. The surface of the Yuanmagnetic Divine Light flashed wildly, yet soon showed signs of strain, utterly unable to contain the extraordinary transformation of the golden mist.
A flash of fear crossed Han Li's face, yet his feet remained grounded; instead, his body seemed to be fitted with pulleys, silently sliding toward a corner of the chamber. As he moved, he swept one sleeve forward.
A shimmer of crystal light flashed, and a small, translucent shield instantly materialized before him, then expanded to several zhang in width, firmly blocking his front.
Almost at the moment Han Li completed this sequence, the Yuanmagnetic Divine Light finally gave way with a sharp, cracking sound, and countless streaks of golden light burst forth from within.
Seeing this, Han Li's heart sank, yet a surge of inner qi instantly surged forth, pouring into the massive shield before him. At the same time, a flash of gold rippled over his body, transforming his skin into a radiant golden hue and causing golden scales to emerge across his surface.
It appeared he had prepared himself for a severe impact—whether the chamber or even the entire estate would remain intact, however, remained a mystery.
Yet, unexpectedly, a scene unfolded that no one had anticipated.
The golden mist that had broken free ceased to swell or burst, instead flashing forward and momentarily transforming into a beam of luminous light that pierced through the roof of the chamber, breaking through the air.
The roof and the spells arranged upon it, as fragile as paper, offered no resistance at all—within a flash, a half-foot-wide opening was formed.
The golden mist then vanished completely from within the chamber.
Han Li raised his head in surprise, observing several strands of white sunlight directly streaming through the opening. Yet suddenly, a profound, eerie vitality surged through the air, causing the celestial and elemental energies of the entire spiritual mountain to surge and ripple violently.
His lips trembled slightly, but then he raised his hand and cast a single white spell, which instantly vanished into the chamber's ceiling.
At once, the area where the roof had been pierced began to glow with a steady white radiance, and the opening rapidly began to seal itself—within a breath, it was fully restored as if nothing had happened.
Han Li, however, flashed with a surge of azure light, suddenly transforming into a streak of brilliant rainbow light and shooting straight out of the chamber. After a few flashes, his flight stabilized, and Han Li materialized above the abode. Raising his head to gaze at the sky, he furrowed his brows in surprise. There, the sky now bore swirling bands of pale golden gales roaring and tearing through the upper atmosphere. Closer to the ground, countless shimmering points of light—displaying five distinct hues—emerged from all directions, gathering in a powerful, surging tide toward him. Han Li was struck with awe, his mouth slightly opening in astonishment. Had he swallowed the crystalline grains directly into his belly and refined them, the outcome would have been dire indeed. Yet, with such a commotion, several cultivators from various ethnic groups who also maintained abodes on the spiritual mountains were surely stirred and alerted.
Sparks of divine radiance flickered across Lingshan, and figures of various hues gradually materialized. Some familiar faces approached one another, pointing at the astonishing celestial image above, discussing it enthusiastically.
A tremendous roar echoed, and at once a brilliant crimson glow surged forth from the fire-jak's mouth. The countless glowing dots floating in the sky, along with the seemingly formidable golden whirlwinds, were swiftly swept away within mere breaths of time, all engulfed by the surging crimson radiance. The crimson fire-jak had grown to over twenty paces in length, then, with a long, resonant laugh, suddenly emitted a brilliant red light, transforming into a human figure about one zhang tall, drifting gracefully through the air. The figure appeared to be in his sixties, with a rugged face, white hair, and a purple robe, beaming with pride as he gazed at the object he held in one hand. It was a crimson gourd, about half a zhang high, adorned with clusters of flame-like markings and a vivid red, fierce fire-jak that shimmered with light—exactly resembling the fire-jak he had previously manifested.
"What on earth—is it Master Xu?"
"When did this old monster return?"
"It seems his powers have grown even more formidable than before."
The numerous foreign beings below stirred immediately upon seeing the elder in purple robes, as if many of them recognized him instantly, murmuring among themselves in quiet conversation. Han Li was momentarily taken aback by this sight, but after a swift sweep of his spirit senses toward the elder in the air, he quickly confirmed that the man was a late stage of Lingxu cultivation. In a spiritual mountain where no beings of the Consolidated stage resided, such a cultivation level naturally ranked among the highest. Yet it seemed unlikely that so many foreign beings of similar Lingxu rank would be so visibly intimidated. Han Li found himself with a growing sense of curiosity. Nevertheless, since the celestial phenomena caused by the original crystal grains had been drawn away and had not attracted much attention, he felt a great relief. Thus, with a flash of green light emanating from his body, Han Li immediately transformed into a streak of green light and descended once more toward the lower abode. Upon reappearing within the abode, he first cast spells to restore the outer defenses and the inner chamber’s seals before finally settling back into his meditation posture in the inner chamber, feeling at ease.
In a single gesture, a cascade of black light descended, revealing the form of the spirit-devouring beast once more, now gently hovering just inches away. Han Li stared at the creature in quiet wonder for a long while before finally sighing.
