These tentacles were not only adorned with black and green patterns, but their surfaces bore massive, wheel-like flesh plates. Upon seeing this sight, Shi Kun didn't hesitate—he simply stomped his single foot on the ground, and his body shot forth like a drawn bowstring. In a single flash, he reached near one of the tentacles, then swept his arm outward. A blade-like beam of yellow light, stretching over ten dozen feet, flashed and cut through. With a sharp "psssh," the yellow blade proved astonishingly sharp, cleaving the tentacle cleanly in two. From the severed ends, a wide splash of green blood gushed out, and a green, savory rain began to fall over the surrounding sky. Seeing this, Shi Kun laughed triumphantly and, shifting his stance, prepared to rush toward another tentacle. Yet at that moment, a thunderous roar erupted beneath the island, shaking the sky above and causing it to vibrate with resonance. The giant paused, his expression slightly perturbed. The tentacle that had been severed suddenly snapped back, and the flow of green blood at the wound instantly ceased, instead releasing thick plumes of dense, pungent green vapor.
Shi Kun, a man with abundant combat experience, retreated without hesitation, instantly stepping thirty paces away—anticipating some strange behavior from the green vapor. Yet this move clearly proved to be a miscalculation. As the green vapor surged upward and coalesced into the air, it suddenly transformed into complete, fully formed tentacles, indistinguishable from those that had appeared earlier. Shi Kun's expression darkened, but he immediately countered with a swift back-slash, sending forth another blade of light several zhang long. This time, however, the newly formed tentacles' flesh discs shrank and expanded in succession, spewing out waves of black luminous glimmers. Upon contact with the yellow blade, the latter emitted a sharp, metallic clashing sound. Though it managed to pierce through parts of the black glow, the blade ultimately dissipated into nothingness mere inches from the tentacle's surface. At this moment, the roar from beneath the island grew even more intense. The tentacle suddenly plunged downward with tremendous force, as if a mountain were pressing down upon Shi Kun. Before it fully reached him, a violent gust of wind surged up from nowhere, making it nearly impossible to maintain one's balance in the rushing gale.
Stone Quan's face darkened, and with a loud roar, he swept his arm outward, launching a yellowish fist toward the sky. This time, both Han Li and Liu Shui'er clearly saw the entire process.
At the very moment the fist struck, it suddenly swelled out like a balloon, growing five to six times its original size. Several yellow runes flashed briefly upon the enlarged fist, spun around it, and then burst open.
A deep yellow glow radiated out, spreading in concentric wavy patterns of light.
As soon as the massive tendrils made contact with the yellow light, their surfaces immediately began to warp, as though stirred by an invisible immense force, and started to crumble and shatter in segments. The falling skin and greenish blood, caught up by the waves of light, were further pulverized and dispersed, eventually vanishing completely from sight.
This punch from Stone Quan seemed to surpass the power of his earlier strike on the island.
Even Han Li's eye briefly jumped in surprise.
But this clearly also completely enraged the unknown sea creature beneath the island. With its roar, the other several tentacles simultaneously waved, instantly transforming into countless shadows that surged densely toward Shí Kūn, enveloping him completely. These tentacles were so vast; as they moved, a gray, swirling gale rose, sweeping the entire island into the midst. The shadows and the gale intertwined, fully submerging Shí Kūn within the swirling storm.
"It seems we won't need to intervene after all. Shí friend alone is sufficient to defeat this sea creature," Liú Shuī'ér exhaled softly and said, observing the scene below.
"Indeed. Shí brother possesses an exceptionally strong physical form; even if this sea creature has some divine abilities, it will ultimately meet its end. However, this creature appears to possess the power of an indestructible body. It would be better for us to directly descend beneath the sea surface and eliminate its true form. After all, prolonging the battle isn't exactly beneficial." Han Lì pondered and replied.
"That makes sense.
To his good fortune, I am currently practicing a water-based cultivation technique, so this creature's body shall be entrusted to me." After a brief thought, the cloak-wearing woman nodded. "Since the Lady of the Immortal has made this decision, I shall not contest it," said Han Li, slightly surprised but quickly smiling in agreement. Li Shui'er said nothing further. With a single hand gesture, a blue glow flashed across her body, and she surged forward as a streak of brilliant blue light, vanishing into the sea surface after only a few swift movements. Almost simultaneously, on the small island previously shrouded in darkness by the gale and tendrils, a series of powerful, continuous sounds erupted once more. Han Li turned to gaze in wonder. On the island, brilliant yellow flashes cut through the hurricane, emerging sharply, while an intense wave of heat rose skyward, causing even the two layers of spatial seals nearby to tremble slightly. Amidst the roaring sounds, Stone Kun's hearty laughter rose clearly, as though he were in the midst of a particularly vigorous bout.
"Could this be the famed combat enthusiast everyone's been talking about? I've only heard of such a person before, but now I've finally seen one in person." Han Li chuckled to himself, then swept his sleeve through the air. A cascade of light shimmered and instantly vanished into the milky light barrier. The previously trembling spell stabilized once more, returning to its original stillness. Thus, Shi Kun displayed his prowess on the island, continuously smashing the tendrils that reached out, yet the tendrils constantly exhaled green mist and swiftly reformed themselves. For a time, the battle remained evenly matched. However, after only a short while, the roar of the beasts beneath the island suddenly grew sharp and intense. The sea surface nearby surged violently, and suddenly, a wave over a hundred paces high rose up from the water, sweeping in from all directions, bearing down on the island with great force. Should these powerful waves strike the island directly, it would likely be split in half.
Han Li, seeing this scene in the air, his face darkened instantly. Without hesitation, a pale, jade-like hand suddenly extended from within his sleeve, fingers splayed and reaching downward to grasp the void.
At once, a rushing sound erupted, five streams of cold flames in various hues shot forth from his fingertips, flashing swiftly and seamlessly merging into the originally translucent, milky light curtain enveloping the entire island.
The curtain trembled and shifted in color, now taking on a delicate, five-hued appearance.
As the massive waves surged forward, they crashed against the curtain with the force of a storm.
Though the curtain appeared thin and fragile—seeming destined to shatter at the first impact—the surface suddenly rippled with vibrant hues of five colors. The sea water trembled and instantly solidified, transforming into clear, crystalline ice.
Thus, under the continuous flickering of the five-hued light, an extraordinary phenomenon unfolded: a vast, pale blue ice wall suddenly rose around the entire island, effectively blocking out the endless waves of sea water beyond.
Yet the small island remained unharmed. Seeing this, Han Li nodded contentedly and drew his hand back. The massive waves had struck the ice walls several times before mysteriously vanishing—so abruptly that, once the waves receded, the sea surface instantly became calm and serene. As Han Li's gaze flickered, a thoughtful expression forming on his face, a sudden tremendous roar echoed, and a figure surged forth from the island, momentarily hovering in midair. "What's going on? This sea creature isn't attacking anymore. Hmm, could it be that Liu's friend has also intervened?" The figure was Shi Kun. He glanced at Han Li, his expression now marked by mild surprise. Just as Han Li was about to speak, a dark, massive vortex suddenly appeared on the sea surface beside the island. As the surrounding water spiraled around it, a colossal black creature—resembling a small mountain—rose to the surface. It was a giant octopus, entirely black.
Yet this octopus was not only massive, but on its head, it seemed to bear a faint resemblance to a fierce man. Even beside its enormous arms, there were two additional thick limbs, each wielding a long, crimson spear.
A blue flash burst forth from beside the sea beast's body, arcing through the air before suddenly appearing near Han Li.
As the light faded, the graceful figure of Liu Shui'er emerged.
"Indeed, it was Liu Lady who did this," Stone Kun remarked, his expression momentarily surprised. "Remarkable skill—she managed to dispatch the beast's true form so swiftly."
"Nothing special," the cloaked woman replied lightly, her gaze lingering on the vast ice wall encircling the small island. "Had it not been for Stone Brother absorbing so much of the beast's consciousness, I wouldn't have been able to act so easily. As for Han, his abilities are truly impressive—he managed to turn such vast seas into solid ice streams."
"Hehe, why are you both being so humble? Once this beast is gone, let us quickly remove the seals and head to the island," Han Li said with a chuckle.
Upon hearing this, Shi Kun and the other companion naturally had no objections.
Right away, Shi Kun descended toward the island. Meanwhile, Han Li and the cloaked woman each cast spells to lift and remove the seals floating in the air.
"Han brother, we can't just leave these ice walls standing here, can we? They're rather conspicuous," Liu Shui'er said, pointing downward.
"Of course not—I'll have them vanish right away," Han Li replied, as if he had already planned this. Then, he opened his mouth and expelled a silver orb of flame.
The silver flame spun gently before suddenly brightening, expanding into a silver phoenix about a foot in size.
"Go!" Han Li gave a gentle flick of his sleeve and murmured the command.
At once, the fiery phoenix spread its wings and shot downward, plunging into an ice wall with a clear cry. A strange phenomenon unfolded. The previously solid, stone-like ice wall began to melt section by section from the point where the phoenix entered, transforming back into surging seawater that flowed steadily downward. Within just a cup of tea's time, all the ice walls had vanished. Only then did Han Li raise his hand and cast a gesture downward. The silver phoenix immediately launched forth, darting several times before vanishing into the sleeve of his robe. "It's truly rare," Li Shui'er remarked, her eyes flashing with surprise as she watched the entire scene unfold.
