Chapter 1,999: The Black Day

Back to Chapter List
That golden orb seemed modest in size, yet as soon as the figure moved, it flashed with light and instantly transformed into a vast vortex, sweeping down and enveloping the Han warrior's head. A powerful, intangible force surged forth, compressing the warrior's form until it slightly bent, while the surrounding space subtly warped and emitted a deep, resonant hum, as though it might burst at any moment. The Magian warrior's face flushed an unusual deep crimson, his body trembling slightly under the vortex's immense pressure, yet he did not collapse under the weight. Instead, his eyes flashed with fierce determination, and he roared aloud. At once, the crimson battle armor on his body erupted with brilliant blood-colored flames, radiating an overwhelming aura from within. Where the flames passed, the nearby space melted and darkened, and the intangible force pressing upon him was pushed aside in a sweeping wave. The warrior straightened up, stood firm, and slowly extended his hand, reaching toward the void. "Crack!" The three magical leopards hovering above instantly burst into a cloud of black mist, which, when drawn into the great man's hands, coalesced into a spear of nearly ten feet in length, dark and magical. The spear shimmered with a deep, ethereal glow, and at its tip, the spearhead split into three, each bearing a fierce lion's head engraved upon it, densely covered with intricate blue spiritual patterns. The great man's face darkened slightly; with a mere flick of his wrist, the spear emitted a piercing, high-pitched cry and launched itself forward. A flash of black light followed, and the spear instantly plunged into the heart of the vortex. As the golden spear vanished in an instant, it suddenly appeared before the giant ape. The golden giant ape was startled and, without hesitation, swiftly moved his six arms in the air, causing six heavy, gleaming weapons to materialize at the tips of his palms. These weapons instantly transformed into six beams of golden light, which surged forward and struck the black spear with tremendous force. A thunderous roar shook the earth! After a burst of interwoven golden and dark energy, the light and dark forces collapsed and vanished simultaneously. The giant ape's eyes narrowed in surprise. Before he could ponder further, the man below burst into laughter, raised his hand, and once again grasped and hurled a spear identical to the first. The giant ape emitted a cold exhalation, then swiftly waved his six arms, causing the six golden weapons to appear and strike the black spear—this time, both were obliterated together. This time, it was the man who paused slightly, his movements momentarily stilled. While this brief pause occurred, the giant ape roared low, raised his six golden weapons, and then threw them all at once. Three heads spoke in rapid succession. With a soft "pffft," six weapons burst forth with brilliant golden light, and countless faint silhouettes shimmered into view—first multiplying from one to ten, then from ten to a hundred—transforming instantly into thousands of golden phantom blades that surged downward in a relentless barrage. At once, the air roared with rushing winds, and everywhere the golden light flashed. The magical warrior's face grew serious, yet he showed no signs of panic. Instead, a subtle smirk curled at the corner of his mouth as he opened his mouth and expelled a surge of purple light. As the purple light emerged, it spun rapidly and burst outward on its own. Numerous filaments shot forth from the light, instantly weaving into a vast, celestial net that stretched skyward. The golden phantom blades surged into the net with a continuous series of explosive crashes. Within the net, golden and purple energies swirled and clashed, causing the entire structure to tremble and flash violently—seeming as though it might be torn apart at any moment. Yet the Han figure paid no heed to this, instead murmuring to himself and rapidly gesturing with his ten fingers as if spinning a windmill, wildly pointing into the air. With each gesture, the crimson glow on his body dimmed slightly, while the luminous network in the sky expanded dramatically. In a short while, the vast network swelled to several times its original size, transforming into an endless expanse of purple cloud. With a decisive motion of his hands, the Han figure summoned a gust of wind that swept the clouds aside, gathering all the golden spectral forms into the sky and then drawing them down once more into a single, compact sphere of purple light. He extended his hand, and the sphere instantly flashed into his grasp. Yet upon glancing upward again, his expression turned suddenly cold. There, where the golden, six-armed, golden-hued giant ape had stood, the sky was now empty—completely vanished. As the Han figure subtly shifted his gaze, before he could act, a ripple of movement surged from behind him, and a brilliant golden paw materialized, shimmering into view. This claw merely flickered, suddenly expanding to ten zhang in length, and with the force of a small mountain, it slammed down upon the tall man. A roar of rushing wind erupted as each sharp tip of the giant claw seemed like a golden great blade. With several such blades cutting in unison, it proved utterly impervious to any resistance. Yet the tall man merely emitted a cold huff, and with a sudden burst of blood-orange flame from his palm, he reversed his grip and charged straight toward the golden claw, showing no sign of fear. Though the two seemed vastly different in size and scale, as soon as the man's hand extended, his fingers instantly swelled to a hundredfold in width. "Crack!" As the blood-orange palm made contact with the golden claw, an irresistible, overwhelming force surged forth, causing the claw to tremble and shatter instantly. At the same time, a faint golden silhouette surged from the void, shooting backward—revealing a small creature, gleaming with golden hues. Though only a few feet long, this creature radiated a powerful aura befitting a being at the Consolidation stage. None other than Han Li's Leopard-Deer creature. This beast had been quietly released by Han Li at some unknown time and had sneaked into the vicinity of the magical giant, launching a surprise attack—only to retreat without achieving any success. At the very instant the small creature was sent flying, a flash of silver light streaked across the giant's side, and a silver arc of light erupted like a flowing ribbon, instantly wrapping the giant tightly from head to toe. As the ripple of energy spread, a three-armed, six-limbed giant leaped into view from the same spot. Upon appearing, the giant's eyes flashed with cold, piercing light, and his six weapons transformed into six beams of golden light, crashing down upon the giant with overwhelming force. At the same time, each of the three heads opened its mouth, spewing out three spheres of silver flame that instantly morphed into three fiery phoenixes, their wings spread wide and charging straight toward the giant. Facing this onslaught, the magical giant narrowed his eyes, yet showed no sign of panic. As his body surged with vibrant blood-like flames, the silver arc began to fragment, inch by inch. Then, with a simple hand gesture, black mist swirling around him, a long black spear materialized before him. With a slight flick of the wrist, the long spear surged straight toward the giant ape, darting with swift precision. Yet as it moved, the spear shimmered and transformed into nine identical magical spears, which then launched themselves in unison. Six of them changed direction, heading directly toward six beams of golden light, while the other three split off, piercing three clusters of silver flames. "Pfft!" The golden beams and silver flames were struck simultaneously, and all of them vanished instantly. Yet the great magical warrior, who had remained motionless, suddenly flashed a strange expression on his face, and uttered a crisp, bone-chilling syllable—"Shatter." At the spot where the long black spear had vanished, a flash of black light appeared, and a compact, half-span short spear silently launched forth. Even with Han Li's vast spiritual awareness, this slender spear—hidden beneath the long spear—had remained completely undetected, and before he could even register the change in his expression, it had driven straight through his arms with force, instantly bursting into fragments. Under a sudden radiance that expanded like a colossal black sun, the light surged out, swelling to a diameter of over a thousand zhang, instantly enveloping the massive ape. The ape's golden glow barely flickered before being completely submerged and erased by the deep, inky black radiance. The black magical sun did not cease its advance. As its dark aura surged and churned, it continued to expand wildly, drawing in everything around it and then tearing and pulverizing it into fine dust. The magical giant smiled with pride and laughter. "Hah! Since I first unleashed my Nine-Magic Son-Mother Spear, no one has ever survived to leave. Young human, you're already worthy of pride just for making me use this divine power." As the giant laughed, the black giant sun gradually shrank and finally vanished in a series of brilliant flashes. Yet, as he casually swept his gaze toward where the giant ape had once stood, his laughter was suddenly cut short—stilled as if his voice had been choked—and his face transformed into one of utter disbelief. "It's impossible! How could this happen?" After swallowing hard, his voice trembled slightly and he faltered. There, in the empty space, a golden glow floated quietly, motionless. Within the soft, golden radiance, a golden-mantled giant ape, a five-colored phoenix, and a silver-white giant crane stood still. The golden giant ape placed both hands upon the golden aura, pouring streams of pale golden spiritual light into the radiance. Although the five-colored phoenix and the silvery giant dragon remained motionless, the surge of five-toned light halos and silver arcs immediately following the golden glow gave rise to two additional protective light screens forming beyond the golden radiance. Yet, whether it was the golden-mantled giant ape or the colorful phoenix or the giant dragon, each of them now stared blankly, devoid of any spark of vitality, as though mere puppets. Startled, the Han warrior swiftly scanned the surroundings with his eyes, as if searching for something specific, but the space around him was empty and utterly unremarkable. With a sharp exhalation, he suddenly raised his hand and gestured toward the distance. Instantly, a dark silhouette materialized beside him—the same form that had previously engaged the Buddha’s golden body. However, as the black aura dispersed, the true nature of this being revealed itself: a charred wooden automaton, entirely black in hue, with countless golden and silver seal patterns engraved upon its surface. This puppet has a green, fierce face with long, unusually extended limbs, yet its eyes flash with a faint crimson glow, giving it an exceptionally menacing appearance. (Hehe, truly sorry. This chapter took much longer to develop than I had anticipated, so the update is slightly delayed. I hope you can forgive me a bit for this!)
