It turned out to be two young men with vastly different appearances. One wore a silver armor coat, with a full head of white hair, yet his face was strikingly handsome. The other dressed in yellow robes, of short and slender build, with a pointed ear and a sunken, monkey-like face. Both exuded a spiritual pressure typical of mid-stage fusion, and as soon as they appeared, they bowed respectfully to the green-robed woman and the elder. The silver-clad youth, in particular, spoke with great courtesy:
"Respectfully bowing to both elders. I wonder if there is any task you have assigned us?"
"The two of you need not be so formal," said the green-robed woman calmly. "You should have heard something about the incident outside the city, correct?"
"Yes, I did witness some of it," replied the silver-clad youth, "but I'm still unsure of the identity of the assailants. They seem no ordinary foes."
"Regarding their origins," she continued, "though I and my brother Yi have formed some initial conjectures, we still need further investigation to confirm them fully. That is precisely why we have summoned you—to send you out on this mission."
"The green-robed woman spoke slowly. The silver-robed youth and the thin youth had already formed some conjectures, yet upon hearing her words, their faces still turned pale. 'This... the great master of the upper stage, whose powers rival even the two esteemed elders, is far beyond our current capabilities. Though we may wish to undertake this task, we fear we would be detected by him, thereby jeopardizing the great matter entrusted to the two elders.' The silver-robed youth felt deeply uneasy, yet had no choice but to reply firmly. 'Hmph! You two are indeed afraid. Take heart—what I am asking of you is not to actually confront that great master, but merely to employ your unique concealment techniques and observe whether there are any other strangers within the current small Shou Luo realm besides him. With your abilities, this should not prove too difficult, should it?' The green-robed woman's expression grew slightly stern, with a hint of impatience. 'Ah, now I understand. Then, indeed, there is no issue at all. We shall proceed immediately."
The thin young man, equally uneasy, hurriedly bowed deeply as he heard the green-robed woman's words, as though released from a great burden. The silver-robed young man still looked somewhat puzzled, but after a moment's thought, he finally bowed respectfully and agreed.
"Very well. You go about it immediately. This realm isn't vast, and within a few days I'll have a clear count of how many outsiders have arrived." The green-robed woman smiled satisfactorily and nodded.
"Indeed, we shall do our utmost."
At once, the two silver-robed youths spoke in unison, then bowed and stepped out of the hall.
As soon as they stepped outside the hall, they exchanged glances, and each saw a faint trace of wry humor on the other's face.
"Then let's go. Since we've committed ourselves to this task, we must act separately and make every effort to see it through. It's fortunate that there's only one such person. Should there be others, they would surely not be weak. Brother Wan, you'll need to be especially cautious."
The silver-robed young man bowed solemnly to his counterpart. "Thank you, Wu Ying, for your advice. However, I can summon over ten thousand manifestations. Even should I encounter a true Post-Stage being, I'm confident I can make it out alive. As for your concealment technique, though it's quite refined, it might prove hazardous should I meet someone whose powers counteract it." The thin young man smiled and returned the bow with his own counsel. The silver-robed young man chuckled, then, without further words, pressed a hand seal. Immediately, ripples spread across his body, and he surged upward like a gust of wind. Meanwhile, the thin young man frowned slightly, his form then bursting into a scattering of golden light. Each golden point contained a large yellow bee, the size of a thumbnail. Upon emitting a chorus of "buzzing" sounds, the entire swarm, led by the largest of the giant bees, surged forward and took flight toward the distant sky.
In the hall, the green-robed woman and the elder named Yi were discussing another matter.
"For safety's sake," said the elder seriously to the woman, "I still believe we should send people to bring the entire family of the Empty Fish back to the city. As long as we fully control this clan, we won't have to worry too much about any unforeseen events."
"If that clan were truly so easy to manage," replied the green-robed woman calmly, "I would have already taken action long ago. You surely know that this clan can only survive in the region of dry, blazing heat and rarely leaves it. Moreover, when they were first established, they made a blood oath: should we use force to seize them, they would rather awaken their ancestral powers and let the entire clan perish than yield even a single inch."
"This is indeed a difficult matter. However, recently I have cultivated a new divine ability. If you are willing to incur some losses, I believe there is indeed a way to resolve this issue."
After frowning slightly, the elder of the Yi surname said, "Ah, so the losses you're referring to are..." The green-robed woman nodded with interest. "Of course—the personnel losses within the Kongyu clan," the elder replied without hesitation. "That won't do. The Kongyu clan has always had a sparse population; I've invested considerable effort to raise their numbers to the level they are today. If we now suffer such significant losses, how can we hope to achieve our goals? Moreover, besides you and me, how many others truly know the secret of the Kongyu clan? They should remain largely unnoticed by outsiders. Should we proceed this way, it might just come across as a case of 'three hundred and twenty silver coins in the same place, yet still appearing to be missing'—a rather awkward situation." The green-robed woman firmly rejected the proposal. "Indeed, that's true. Had it not been for my accidental entry into this realm, where I simultaneously discovered both the Kongyu clan and the noble houses, I would never have realized that the ancient secrets I once knew were actually of practical use. Since Luo friend is unwilling to take this risk, then we shall simply set it aside."
However, to be safe, it would still be wise to send someone to monitor the Dry Flame Pool. Should anything truly go wrong, some bold measures would have to be taken." The elder with the Yi surname paused, then spoke with a determined tone. "That's quite acceptable. Even if you don't mention it, I've already made up my mind." The green-robed woman readily agreed this time. Thus, the two—mother of the War Spider and the elder—began discussing the specific personnel to be dispatched. On the other hand, after activating his Wind and Thunder Wings, Han Li instantly vanished beyond the mountain range. A thunderous roar followed, and when he reappeared in the void, he was already some ten thousand li away from the mountains. He glanced back at the mountain range direction, his vast consciousness sweeping over it instantly. Finding no one quietly following him, a subtle smirk formed on his lips.
He had long anticipated that, upon witnessing the strength of his spiritual awareness, the other party—without knowing his true intentions or depth—would hesitate to pursue him boldly. Thus, his earlier move of "disturbing the peace" not only confirmed the location and approximate strength of the Shura Spider's lair, but also significantly constrained the other party's movements. With a strong adversary now observing from outside, the Shura Spider's matriarch and another powerful Dharma Master, concerned about the potential collapse of the inner stability, would certainly be reluctant to leave their stronghold lightly. However, should the other party truly dare to pursue him, he would not hesitate to cut off their retreat. Even when operating alone, far from their territory and without reinforcements, he would still hold a strong advantage against a two-on-one situation. Moreover, while departing from that mountain range, he had subtly laid a hidden reserve—should the other party decide to make a large-scale departure from their lair, it would be immediately apparent.
Now that the opponent has not come pursuing, this reserve maneuver can only serve as a monitoring strategy, to prevent them from attempting a transfer or concealment. Yet, considering the strength of the Shura Spider clan, it still surpasses expectations. When facing off against the clan one-on-one, and in situations where the outcome seems less than favorable, Han Li naturally decides not to take excessive risks, but instead plans to consolidate with Mo Jianli and the others. Together, the four of them should be sufficient to handle the Shura Spider clan. Han Li silently weighed these considerations and, without lingering further, activated his flight spell and sped directly toward another direction.
Floating on the water surface, not far from the two, was a golden-yellow aquatic plant, half submerged and half rising above the water, bearing three crimson peculiar fruits that emitted a strong, fragrant aroma. Surrounding the plant, the waters teemed with the remains of fish-beast corpses—numbering no less than thirty or forty. The pungent scent of the beasts' blood had stained the lake surface nearly entirely crimson. The turtle-beast and the two-headed giant serpent were now the only two rare beasts left in the vicinity. Han Li paid no attention to the golden-yellow plant or the three crimson fruits upon it, but instead fixed his gaze on the two beasts below, displaying clear interest.
When he saw the giant turtle tightly ensnared by the two-headed giant serpent, its body suddenly bursting forth with a layer of deep blue symbolic shadows, a rare smile appeared on Han Li's face, and he murmured to himself, "Indeed, this creature carries a trace of the ancient true spirit of the玄武 (True Spirit Turtle). With that, my Jingze Technique can now advance one more step." As soon as he finished speaking, Han Li immediately acted without hesitation. He merely flicked his sleeve downward, and at once a streak of jade-green light shot forth, swiftly rising to hover above both creatures before plunging downward. The green glow spiraled around the two-headed serpent, cutting it into numerous pieces—several sections in total. Seeing this, the turtle instantly sank toward the lake's surface, preparing to dive beneath the water and escape. But then, the jade-green streak spun once and swiftly plunged into the lake. In the next instant, Han Li simply raised his hand and gently waved it downward. The lake water surged aside, and the massive turtle was then lifted out of the water, completely secured by a jade-green rope that ran through its entire body.
