Chapter 2,285: Battle of the Shura (Four)

Back to Chapter List
"Truly a magnificent peacock of five colors! Remarkable—never expected the Five-Light Clan to have a companion of such caliber. I shall truly enjoy a good sparring session with you." Han Li's pupils slightly contracted, yet then broke into a light smile. "Sparring? What does that mean!" the peacock with human speech flashed a surprised gaze. "Hah...!" Han Li raised his head, yawned, and said nothing further, yet his aura shifted subtly, a radiant flame of five colors surging forth from within. As the five-colored flame danced, Han Li's form blurred momentarily, and he too transformed into a resplendent, magnificent spirit bird—indeed, another magnificent peacock of five colors. "Wait—so you're also of the Five-Light Clan? No, not quite. Your aura is off. You merely absorb the true blood of your clan's sacred birds to assume their form." The peacock on the other side was first startled, then swiftly noticed subtle differences as the light in his eyes flashed. "You have indeed a keen eye," Han Li remarked, "and you've immediately discerned my method of transformation." Han Li sneered. Yet his transformed peacock shook its wings once, and as the five-colored radiance on its body surged, it immediately surged forward in a rolling wave of light. "Well, well," the elder named Yi said, laughing with growing anger. "You've truly dared to display your divine light before me again. Then let me give you a lesson—so that you may learn what true five-colored divine light truly is." As he spoke, the peacock he had transformed shook its long plumes, and suddenly, countless five-colored arrows shot forth toward the opposite side. A continuous series of sharp "shrieks" filled the sky. Upon contact with the rolling waves of five-colored flame advancing from the opposite side, these arrows pierced through, creating countless holes of varying sizes. As the five-colored waves coalesced, they slowed down. With no resistance from the arrows, they continued straight toward Han Li. Han Li was momentarily startled, but his peacock swiftly responded—shaking its plumage once, the radiance on its body momentarily condensed, and from its body, a cascade of five-colored light filaments burst forth. With each flicker of the light filaments, they struck every arrow with perfect precision, twisting and then pulling firmly. A series of sharp "crack" sounds followed as the arrows flashed violently and were severed into countless fragments. The filaments then blurred slightly before vanishing completely at their original location. At the very next moment, a ripple of disturbance surged before the peacock formed by the elder named Yi, and dense streams of light filaments shot forth from the void, trembling and darting as if ready to bind the peacock instantly. Yet, as soon as the filaments touched the peacock's body, a brilliant display of five-colored glows suddenly flared across its surface. The filaments then "popped" briefly into the body, after which no further changes occurred. From afar, Han Li felt a sudden sense of alarm. The peacock formed by the elder named Yi then raised its head and emitted a long, resonant cry, extending one claw that flashed with five-colored light toward the void ahead. A deep, resonant "pop" sounded. A colossal claw, spanning hundreds of paces, surged forth from the void and descended toward the peacock form of Han Li below. Han Li sneered, and as his peacock form blurred, it vanished in an instant, reappearing on the other side, some dozen paces away, within the chest of the peacock. At the same time, he opened his mouth and expelled a jet of silvery flame toward the giant claw. Though the claw appeared immense, it responded with astonishing speed—upon the flame's impact, it swiftly reversed and struck it with a palm. A deep thud echoed. The surface of the claw shimmered with five-colored crystalline light, and the silvery flame instantly extinguished. Then, the five fingers of the claw extended, reaching out with lightning speed to grasp the peacock form that had just appeared. Before the actual capture occurred, countless five-colored runes suddenly emerged and flickered in the surrounding space, forming an invisible barrier that tightly encased Han Li. As the peacock form of Han Li flapped its wings, vast sheets of five-colored light surged forth, only to vanish instantly upon contact with the runes—as though encountering a perfect countermeasure. Han Li was startled. Without hesitation, a surge of five-colored aura radiated from his body, causing all the feathers on his wings to tremble slightly before detaching and shooting outward. They then spun in the air, coalescing into several vivid, shimmering beams of five-colored swordlight that flashed swiftly and cut wildly in all directions. A sharp, metallic clashing sound rang out! Upon striking the symbols, these beams of light seemed to encounter hardened steel, being forcefully rebounded with no ability to penetrate the seal at all. "Gah! Gah!" the elder named Yi exclaimed, delighted by this scene. With a voice like that of a human, the great peacock extended one of its claws forward. At the same time, a wave of fluctuation rippled above Han Li, and a second massive claw emerged from the five-colored aura, descending steadily toward the ground. Instantly, more five-colored symbols blossomed forth in the surrounding space. The peacock that Han Li had transformed into felt his body suddenly tighten, and instantly became completely immobile. Thus, under the delighted gaze of the elder named Yi, the two massive claws descended in a swift, synchronized motion—one ahead, one behind. As the enormous shadow of the claws fell, gusts of hurricane-force winds surged forth, distorting and warping the space beneath, instantly engulfing the peacock form of Han Li within. But at that very moment, a deep, resonant roar erupted from the distorted void, and a sphere of golden light suddenly burst forth, from which a massive, furry palm—about the size of a water jar—emerged. As the five fingers of this palm parted, the entire palm instantly transformed into a rich purple-gold hue, and it swept horizontally, precisely blocking the crystal light beam. A thunderous crash! The crystal light beam struck the furry palm and instantly shattered, sending ripples of celestial and primordial energies rippling through the heavens. A brilliant, dazzling sun of crystalline radiance surged forth from the center of the impact. Remarkably, the furry palm, composed entirely of flesh and blood, had truly withstood the seemingly invincible crystal beam. Upon witnessing this, the elder of the Yi surname grew utterly astonished and furious. Yet, before he could formulate any further offensive strategy, a sharp, icy exhalation suddenly issued from the golden light across the opposite side. At the very sound, the phoenix-like form of the elder Yi shivered as if struck by lightning, and involuntarily retreated several paces. At the same time, a fierce roar erupted from the golden light, and a golden fist resembling a small mountain surged skyward, shattering the two five-colored giant claws as if they were mere sheets of paper. A powerful, almost unimaginable aura surged forth from the golden light, sweeping across the surroundings and causing the five-colored glyphs to burst into fragments under its force. Only then did the golden light recede slightly, revealing a colossal golden-purple ape, towering over fifteen zhang in height, who was now slowly drawing back his massive fist. "Your true form is a mountain-giant ape... no, not merely a typical mountain-giant ape—such an ape should not have been so easily freed from my solidified realm," the peacock exclaimed, retreating two steps in astonishment before speaking. "Hmph. What my true form is, need not concern you. I've already witnessed your mastery of the five-colored subtleties. Now, it's time for you to experience the true power of mine." The giant ape gazed at the five-colored peacock across from him, yet spoke coldly. "Do you truly believe that merely changing your physical form will allow you to defeat me? You're dreaming, quite literally." Though the elder named Yi sensed the terrifying aura emanating from the giant ape, he showed no sign of alarm. Instead, with a low cry, a flash of light and flame rippled across the surface of the peacock he had transformed into, and suddenly, he took on a new form—half-bird, half-human. His head was that of a peacock, his body clad in brocade robes, with five long, translucent swords of distinct colors embedded along his back. He had thus withdrawn the five-colored peacock form, becoming an eerie hybrid creature. "That's quite something—you've indeed kept a reserve. This is perfect. Now, I may finally let go and fully indulge myself." The giant ape's eyes flashed with crystalline light. Suddenly, with a single flip of both hands, two mountains of jade and dark green, each about a zhang high, materialized and shot upward. Han Li then tossed the two mountains into the sky and, with a single finger, lightly tapped the space twice. Instantly, after the divine technique was applied, the two small hills of dark and jade color surged wildly in the wind, swelling into towering peaks over a hundred zhang in height. At the same time, the purple-gold giant ape formed by Han Li revealed silver patterns on its body, rapidly expanding until it reached a colossal size of three or four hundred zhang. As soon as the giant ape's body had fully reformed, it slammed its two fists—each the size of a house—hard against the steel-like chest. Then, with a blur, it grasped both hills simultaneously in one powerful motion. Suddenly thickening its arms, the ape roared and hurled the two mountain peaks forcefully toward the monster formed by the Yi family elder. As soon as the two peaks were released, they instantly transformed into luminous spheres of dark and jade hues, blurred slightly, and then vanished into the void with an astonishing speed. A sharp, piercing roar erupted in the sky nearby. The monster formed by the Yi family elder felt a sudden wave of disturbance, and in an instant, two massive beings appeared before him. A force so powerful that even a great master could not breathe instantly surged forth, compelling him to rush forward. The protective luminous aura before the elder still trembled violently, and his face suddenly ached as though cut by blades. Despite this, the elder named Yi showed no visible movement in his hands or feet; yet the five crystalline long swords embedded in his back suddenly flashed with an unusual glow. With a series of "thuds," the five swords instantly materialized before him, crossed and raised, transforming the immense pressure into nothingness. What left Han Li utterly astonished was that, when the direct pressure from the roaring winds of the two towering mountains struck the five long swords, they suddenly halted—seeming to freeze in mid-air. From a distance, it appeared as though the five swords had truly held the mountain winds at bay. Han Li himself was well aware of the immense strength of his physical form, now advanced to the stage of Great Perfection and transformed into a giant ape. Faced with this utterly strange phenomenon, his eyes narrowed slightly, and he gradually closed them tightly.
