"Sequence 8, 'The Provoker,' excels at stirring up each person's inner malice, intensifying conflicts, sparking disputes, and even triggering bloodshed..." The description isn't detailed enough—it seems the Watchers aren't particularly familiar with this potion's capabilities. Still, it does align well with the characteristics of the Alfalfa Incident. Kline raised his gaze, then looked at Sequence 9 corresponding to 'The Provoker': "Sequence 9, 'The Assassin,' capable of transforming the body swiftly to achieve a feather-light agility, while solidifying the eagle's vision and night vision. Each 'Assassin' is adept at concealing themselves within shadows, possessing nimble movements and the ability to unleash all their strength in a single, decisive strike..." After reading the description, Kline once again found himself deeply puzzled: "The Assassin"...isn't the advancement of 'The Assassin' supposed to be 'The Provoker'?
This is quite strange—just like how the advanced path of the "Seer" is a profession that excels in technical skill, which seems out of the ordinary... Some sequences progress step by step in a very logical manner, such as the "Audience." Others, however, defy intuition and logic. Hmm, maybe not always—perhaps there are some underlying commonalities that I haven't yet noticed. For instance, both the "Assassin" and the "Influencer" tend to bring disaster upon others. This book is first published at?????????.???, offering you a seamless reading experience with error-free and properly ordered chapters. But the "Seer"’s path—how can I possibly make sense of that? Hey, could it be the line of Gandalf, the old master? After adding a bit of supportive magic, do they simply focus all their skill points on strength and technique?
Klein silently muttered his thoughts and shook his head, turning the pages to the section on the secret organization "The Knowing," which the "Influencer" is involved with.
"The Logos Society, emerging in the early years of this age, holds that the spirit is the essence of humanity, while the physical body serves merely as a prison for the spirit. Human beings commit evil due to the influence of the body; thus, they must cultivate spiritual knowledge to gradually free the spirit from the body. Through successive trials imposed by celestial bodies, they ultimately transcend the material world and return to their purest, most authentic selves, achieving eternal salvation.
It is unknown how the Order of the Mind came to be, and its origins can only be analyzed through two possible sequences: first, the "Apprentice" and the "Master of Tricks," which naturally evokes the Abraham family of the Fourth Dynasty of Tord; it is also plausible that the Tamara family—long allied through marriage with the Abraham family—may be involved. Second, the "Assassin" and the "Mover," pointing directly to the Order of the Sorceresses. The Abraham family, the Tamara family, the Antigonos family, the Charathus family, the Black Emperor of the Solomonic Empire, the Blood Emperor of the Tord Dynasty, the Emperor of the Trenzost Empire, and the Jacob and Amun families mentioned by the "Hanged Man"—all of these families and lineages... there are indeed countless secrets buried within the history of the Fourth Dynasty. Perhaps even many more truths remain undiscovered. Kline was left deeply impressed, sensing that the history of the Fourth Dynasty was shrouded in dense fog.
Yet the outlines seen through the mist alone stirred an unshakable sense of dread—imagine a time of extraordinary splendor, a era where blood and strangeness danced together, where terror and distortion sang in unison.
Klein took a quiet breath, flipped through the pages, but found no description of the "Order of the Witch-Priests."
He lifted his head, gazing at Neil, who was diligently filtering hand-ground coffee through paper, and earnestly asked:
"Mr. Neil, could you tell me what the Order of the Witch-Priests is? I couldn't find any mention of them in the records."
Neil didn't immediately respond. Only after finishing his task did he chuckle and reply:
"Your confidentiality level is insufficient—even with Dunning's permission, you cannot access that section. Indeed, one might say that much of the material exists only within the Sanctuary, never preserved in the archives behind the Charnis Gate in Tinggen. Only when you become the captain of the Night Watch team and visit the Sanctuary for training will you gain access."
"Regarding the magical order, I know only a little. I understand that they revere the 'Primordial Witch,' believing this enigmatic figure to be the true heir of the Creator—emerged from the chaos, born within the very body of the Creator, and thus destined to be both the first and the final one."
"Their hierarchical structure is closely tied to this. To receive the grace of the Primordial Witch, members must draw nearer to this hidden presence, resulting in a predominantly female leadership—this is why they are known as the Witch Order."
"I've only heard that the witches are entrusted with the mission of spreading calamities."
Spreading calamities... that indeed aligns with the shared undercurrent of both 'Assassin' and 'Instigator' roles. Still, Mr. Triss seems to be in a precarious position—this subsequent potion path appears more suited to women. Klein nodded slightly, continuing to review the documents.
After reviewing the materials, he realized that the secret organizations were far more extensive than he had imagined, yet after careful reflection, he found this quite normal, given the world's long history and the past eras when extraordinary powers had been particularly active. Based on the information provided, Caine categorized the secret organizations into three groups using a chronological framework:
Thirdly, there are newer organizations that have emerged over the past century or so—such as the "Aurora Society," the "Iron Cross Society," the "Elemental Dawn," and the "Psychological Chain Gold Society," the one that Klein first heard of. In addition, there are several smaller, less prominent organizations that have not achieved much.
"Benson and Melissa certainly couldn't imagine just how dangerous this world has become—not just through war," Klein shook his head and chuckled, neatly stacking the confidential documents and pushing them toward Old Neil.
At the same time, he silently added to himself:
May the Tarot Society absolutely not be listed!
Old Neil had no idea that the person across from him was the leader of a secret organization. He smiled warmly, took the documents, and headed toward the Charnes Gate.
Klein sat there, pondering whether he should make a divination about the whereabouts of the "Instigator" Tris. But after just a few seconds of thought, he abandoned the idea—after all, he only knew the person's general appearance and a name that might or might not be true. If someone could track down a person's movements with just that, they'd no longer be a seer; they'd be a prophet! When the old Niles returned, Klein settled back into his studies, continuing his course in mysticism to master more ritual magic "formats." That day, he spent it entirely immersed in learning and practice, not participating in the joint operation to capture the "Instigator" Tris. He only heard that the seal from Beckland, item "2–049," would be delayed due to certain special circumstances, with the departure date still pending. Having earned nearly two sols from his divination the day before, on his way home, Klein spent ten pence buying a two-liter keg of Enmater beer for Bensen and brought a freshly baked lemon cake for Melissa.
"Klein, I know how much you value us, but honestly, it's not necessary to spend so much on these things." Bensen looked at the small wooden keg of beer, carefully choosing his words. Melissa stood beside him, silently nodding, her agreement evident. This must be the difference in our consumption habits... Klein chuckled and sighed. "Bensen, Melissa, don't worry—this is something I've paid for with extra subsidies, you know, about two to four sols per week." He mentally added, "I can't tell you it's income from fortune-telling services I've been providing..." "Well, your job is actually better than I expected." Bensen paused, offering a balanced assessment. Indeed, even learning fortune-telling himself... Klein murmured without speaking, then turned toward the kitchen. With the coordinated efforts of the three siblings, the sumptuous dinner was served one by one.
After a satisfying meal and drink, Kline, Bensen, and Melissa simply collapsed into the living room sofa, lingering for a while before finally rising to tidy up, chat, and study. When both Bensen and Melissa had fallen asleep, I went up to the Gray Mists to check on the ritual's effects—Kline reviewed his historical texts, occasionally glancing at his brother and sister.
One can see that he has a round, approachable face—none other than Tris, the instigator behind the Alfalfa incident. From the shadow in the corner stepped a mysterious figure dressed in a black cloak with a hood, her voice distinctly feminine.
Tris smiled warmly and contentedly.
"It feels wonderful—exactly the scene I've always dreamed of and pursued."
"I believe I've fulfilled my mission and am ready for advancement."
The woman in the black cloak nodded slightly, almost imperceptibly.
"Excellent. As promised, I shall provide you with the Sequence 7 formula and the three primary materials. The rest you will need to gather yourself."
"Understood," Tris replied, already prepared.
The mysterious woman raised her hand and handed Tris a book-like object.
The "book" had an ancient, weathered bronze casing, and beside it hung a strange star-shaped lock.
Tris knew that "books" contained recipes and ingredients, and felt a surge of excitement. He suppressed his emotions and glanced curiously at the magical names inscribed on the bronze casing. "A witch!" Tris exclaimed, stunned that the ancient Hemi-words spelled out the word were indeed "witch." "A witch? I'm becoming a witch? What a joke!" The mysterious woman covered her mouth and chuckled softly, pausing before finally responding, "You've always been rather unusual, haven't you? Unusual that our senior leadership is all women..." "That's exactly it."
