?Qin Feng moved with the utmost speed.
Indeed, the magical race's leader was nearly on the verge of a full-blown rage. With over a dozen subordinates fallen, he himself was pinned down and unable to proceed to rescue them—his anger naturally turned squarely upon the person before him. As for the beautiful Inspector, she could only hold on by sheer strength.
Upon seeing him arrive on his flying sword, Qingya's eyes sparkled with renewed hope.
Qin, bustling and animated, exclaimed, "Hey, you ugly duck! How can you defeat even women like this? Do you still count as a man? Come on—show me your strength! Honestly, I've never lifted a finger to fight her!"
The other's attention immediately shifted, and he roared, "As long as they're enemies, I don't care whether they're male or female, beautiful or plain!"
Then he charged straight at Qin Feng.
Yet Qingya didn't spare him a thought—she knew that merely because he hadn't fought her didn't mean he hadn't harbored such intentions. It was simply that he hadn't been able to match her strength.
Qin lightly signaled to her, and the next instant, their bodies simultaneously became translucent.
Huff... The magical clan leader burst through the shimmering form, shouting, "Frustrating Chinese! Always hiding behind their backs, never facing the challenge—just running away! I'm fed up!"
Inside the small tripod, he smiled warmly at the woman and said, "I arrived just in time, didn't I?"
"Decent, but if I'd waited even half a minute longer, we'd never have let go of you," she deliberately adopted a scolding tone, since only by doing so could she avoid expressing her gratitude for the life-saving help.
Qin stroked his chin and said, "Half a minute? If I'd arrived half a minute later, it wouldn't have been you and me who were at odds—it would have been the big guy and you. Leader, what I really meant to say is, you just need to stand at a distance, occasionally interrupting him, keeping him busy. There's no need for a full-on confrontation."
The woman blinked her large eyes, "You didn't say that sooner!"
"You gave me any chance to speak?"
"Hmm."
Neither party wished to waste precious time on this issue. After a brief rest, Qingya continued to drag the other one out, while Qin Shao relentlessly slaughtered the attendants. By the afternoon of the second day, only a few flying cockroaches remained capable of causing further damage. Of course, these insects had inflicted massive destruction on human cities, leaving countless casualties and widespread ruins. The demon lord was utterly helpless, watching his subordinates fall one by one, himself becoming increasingly overwhelmed. In response, he simply ordered the surviving cockroaches to gather at a specific location, uniting them to collectively fend off the constant waves of surprise attacks. Yet he had forgotten one crucial matter—Qin Shao possessed small nuclear warheads. The rather naive, large cockroaches, just as they had gathered and before their lord appeared, were blown to pieces in a series of explosions. After three blasts, not a single one remained alive.
When the leader of the magical race arrived, he saw only the massive crater left on the ground and the shattered bodies of the crickets. Now, he was truly a lone commander. Soon after, he was severely beaten by Qingya and Qin Feng together and fled, embarrassed, to a quiet place. Before he could even catch his breath, he pulled out a stone glowing with a soft blue light from his cloak, and with his right index finger, made a small cut, dropping three drops of blood onto it. The stone instantly brightened, illuminating the surroundings with a brilliant light. A female voice then echoed, "Scotty, why did it take so long to contact me? Has the forward base been constructed?" "No," he said, his face falling. "What? Then what are you doing? After all these days, you haven't even managed to build a single forward base—what have you accomplished?"
"The female voice grew angry: 'Do you know, I've already assembled my second wave of reinforcements, waiting for the base to be completed before they move in. Yet, even such minor matters fall apart. What good is my retention of you?' Scotti was so startled that he immediately knelt down, pleading, 'General, please hear me out. The base construction was nearly complete when suddenly a group of people claiming to be cultivators emerged. They are powerful and skilled in underhanded tactics. My troops—all of them—have been wiped out. I urgently request reinforcements, General. I will certainly avenge the fallen.' The female voice remained silent for a few seconds before suddenly speaking: 'Are you absolutely certain they are cultivators?' 'Yes,' he nodded. 'They claim to be Chinese cultivators. They can fly on a strangely shaped sword, summon fire, and generate lightning—remarkably capable...' 'I understand now."
"The female voice grew deeper: 'I'll send you a fresh batch of reinforcements immediately, but you must have the base fully constructed within one week—otherwise, you'll be waiting to die.' 'Thank you, General. I promise to complete the task without fail,' Scotty vowed.
The female voice chuckled, then added, 'Don't promise so quickly. Think carefully—how can you ensure the base is built flawlessly? As I understand it, cultivators indeed possess powerful and unconventional combat strength; they won't remain passive in the face of our invasion.'
'Yes, I will think carefully. I will certainly not fall short of your expectations...'
Suddenly, the light faded, and the stone returned to its original state."
Scott took deep, labored breaths, sat down heavily on the ground, and murmured to himself, "How can we build the base without anyone noticing? Indeed, we need to think about this carefully—think about it carefully..."
Qingya hummed, "Never pursue a defeated foe to exhaustion—don't you understand this simple principle? He's already a lone man now. If we press too hard, he'll be forced to fight us to the very end, even risking total annihilation. The outcome would be far better if we simply let him go with dignity, and then pursue him later." Qin Feng held a different view—he believed it was essential to crush the fallen opponent. As the saying goes, "Cut the grass but don't remove the roots; otherwise, troubles will arise in the future." The female magistrate, noticing his expression of dissent, waved a hand and said, "Don't worry—I'll certainly kill him. He'll surely be hiding somewhere, nursing his wounds, and eventually, he'll grow restless and make his move. It'll be easy to dispatch him." Qin Feng didn't understand the source of her confidence, and a quiet unease stirred within him.
