It's so refreshing to feel happy—watching my five wives, my heart feels sweet. To them, I said, "Wives! We're taking you to a mysterious place—don't tell anyone! It'll all become clear when you arrive!" "Aw, that's disappointing!" they all exclaimed together. Yet, inside, I was still smiling, wondering: What's my husband up to? Why is he keeping it so secret? Let's see what he's planning. After breakfast, High Light and the wives set off. High Light personally drove a Ferrari sports car. Chen Yuting, instead of being eager to show off, was assigned to the passenger seat—this made her feel quite special. She never expected her husband to still have a special place for her. "Everyone, please sit comfortably and fasten your seatbelts! And don't forget your sunglasses!" The warm, touching words made the wives feel cozy. Ying'er, Zhang Yuping, Dong Jiao, and Yu Die sat in the back row—this luxury sports car seemed tailor-made for Gao Liang. There were exactly four seats there, and once they settled in, they all felt incredibly comfortable. After the wives settled, Gao Liang blew a whistle and pressed down on the accelerator. The red Ferrari surged forward like a bright red ribbon, speeding ahead. Gao Liang drove swiftly, and the wives could only hear the rushing wind, with dust swirling around them. Fortunately, wearing their sunglasses, they were well protected from the wind, and soon they were well out of Paris, cruising across open fields. Fresh breezes, bright sunshine, and the fragrant blooms of various flowers across the countryside left the five wives delighted. "Wow! This is so comfortable!" They removed their sunglasses and gazed at the clear blue sky with floating clouds, the endless grasslands stretching out, and a variety of flowers they couldn't name. "Husband!" It's truly surprising—we've already arrived in Paris so quickly, and now we're here in this vast, lush meadow! Wow! There are so many sheep over there!" The women were all delighted. Gao Liang chuckled, "Right in the heart of Normandy, in the center of the European continent!" "Oh? Really? Oh my goodness! We've truly felt a completely different kind of charm during our visit to France. This trip to France has been absolutely wonderful!" Dong Jiao and Yu Die were thrilled. Zhang Yупing and Ying'er asked Gao Liang, "Husband! The landscape is so open and spacious—where exactly are you taking us?" Chen Yuting, standing at the front, had her eyes fixed on a beautiful scene ahead, and suddenly exclaimed, "Husband! Quickly! Take me there!" "Heh! Ladies! Did you hear that? That's exactly where we're going!" Gao Liang pointed ahead. "Off we go! Europe's leafy heart!" The five beautiful wives clapped and cheered. Gao Liang immediately floored the accelerator, and the red Ferrari surged forward at high speed. Passersby began to gather along the roadside, while, to the amazement of the vehicles traveling alongside, Gao Liang performed a series of racing maneuvers from the game *Gran Turismo: The Ultimate Racing Experience*—sliding, jumping over, accelerating, and more—showing off his skills. Fortunately, the five women had their seatbelts fastened; otherwise, they would have been thrown out of the car. The maneuvers were so thrilling that Gao Liang nearly brushed against the adjacent mountain wall, squeezing through between the two cars ahead, leaving the drivers of those vehicles utterly stunned. Gao Liang remained composed, blowing softly on his lips, and soon reached a broad road leading toward the sea. "Wow! Where does this road lead?" the women asked in unison. Gao Liang smiled and said, "We'll arrive soon—answers will be revealed!" The red Ferrari sped along the coastal highway, fresh and moist sea breezes gently brushing the faces of the five women. "Crunch!" One moment, the highlight stopped the red Ferrari at a particular spot. Several women stepped out and looked up. There was a landmark inscribed in French: "Mont Saint-Michel!" Dong Jiao, who speaks fluent French, read it out in standard, smooth French and immediately announced to everyone, "Mount Saint-Michel!" Wow! Mount Saint-Michel is the third major site of Catholicism after Jerusalem and Vatican City, located in Normandy. As the car approached the mountain, a vast meadow came into view, with flocks of sheep grazing under a clear blue sky nearby. In the distance, the meadow seamlessly blended into an endless expanse of sandy dunes. A conical small hill rose prominently from the dunes. Most impressive of all, the conical complex of the Saint-Michel Church on the summit rose nearly twice as high as the small hill it stood upon—diameter about one kilometer. The Gothic spires of the church soared into the sky, crowned with a golden statue of Saint-Michel holding a sword, pointing straight toward the heavens. It feels as though one has stepped into a heavenly realm. Following the stone pathways up the slopes of Mont-Saint-Michel, shops and restaurants line both sides, evoking the atmosphere of Shanghai's Hongzhi Temple. After just twenty minutes, the majestic and imposing complex of the Church and Monastery of Mont-Saint-Michel stands before you in serene calm. This is a classic Gothic ensemble, where every building, every arch, and every ornamental pattern rises upward in pointed peaks, arranged with graceful precision and harmony, creating a sense of a powerful upward lift. Through centuries of expansions and renovations, Mont-Saint-Michel has grown into its present form. Today, it is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, drawing countless visitors from around the world. Former French President François Mitterrand once hailed Mont-Saint-Michel as "France's Mount Tai." For over a thousand years, it has stood proudly, overlooking the sea, facing the ever-changing tides of the Atlantic Ocean, receiving the prayers and devotions of generations of faithful. The two large halls at the base of the complex on Mont Saint-Michel are supported by Romanesque massive stone pillars. For centuries, these halls have served as storage for food and as shelter for poor pilgrims. These halls are essential, providing the two most fundamental necessities of life: food and lodging. However, during the French Revolution, the site also functioned as a prison, where several notable figures were imprisoned. Moving upward, one reaches the monks' meditation rooms and reception halls. Passing through numerous halls and navigating the maze-like corridors, one finally ascends to the uppermost sanctuary. Upon first entering the sanctuary with a sense of reverence, the vastness of the hall is profoundly impressive. There are no exquisite stone carvings, no luxurious pulpits, and the Gothic rose windows are not adorned with vibrant stained glass. Everything is so simple and unadorned—no exaggeration, no opulence—yet within this majestic and imposing exterior lies a deeply humble and sincere spirit. Compared to St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, the Church of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, and other churches of various sizes across Europe, with their elaborate sculptures and decorations, vibrant stained glass windows, broad pulpits, and massive organ consoles, a sense of lofty sanctity fills you, making you feel humble in comparison.
