For an ordinary person, holding their breath would barely last three minutes—now it's five, no, ten minutes. Everyone gasped in astonishment, as the distant sea surface churned and surged, bringing up a large patch of blood—was it Huang Liang? Just as everyone was deeply worried about his fate, Huang Liang's head broke the surface and began swimming toward the shore, seemingly struggling. Oh! Everyone saw clearly—what a huge fish! "It's a shark! A big shark!" observed Gao Ruolan, her eyes sharp, excitedly shouting. Others cheered as well, for they had never seen a shark of such size before. With the help of F3, this 5-meter-long giant shark was finally pulled ashore. Everyone danced and clapped, with Zhang Xiaoli pulling out her digital camera and continuously photographing the shark. The other girls gently touched the still warm, slightly struggling shark. F3 lifted Huang Liang together and threw him into the air, then let him fall, then lifted him again—across the island, cheers erupted.
Barbecuing was done on the island, fish were sliced and grilled over the fire, but after eating, everyone felt very thirsty. Gao Liang suggested that there was a large hot spring pool behind the mountain, and asked if they should go there. "A hot spring!" Everyone was enthusiastic—really, there was a hot spring on the island? They left the fish pieces still half-eaten and headed up the mountain. Indeed, behind the mountain there was a serene pool, and everyone rushed in one after another. Wow! The warmth was so soothing! Thirsty? They simply drank several sips of the clear spring water—what a delight! With both hunger and thirst satisfied, everyone was delighted. Early in the morning, after watching the sunrise on the island, the F4 group left, leaving Gao Ruolan and the four girls to continue grilling fish pieces. "What are they going to do today?" Zhang Xiaoli asked. "Who knows?" Chen Yanling replied. "I think they won't go fishing again, will they?" Liang Qin Yun speculated. "No, yesterday's catch should be enough to last us for at least fifteen days!"
"Gao Ruolan was roasting a piece of shark while speaking. "I think without Ou Yang's help, we wouldn't have been this comfortable!" Zhang Xiaoli added. Before finishing, she continued, "I've noticed Ou Yang seems to have a special interest in Ruolan!"
"Oh? Really?" Gao Ruolan blushed slightly but pretended not to know, feigning surprise and saying, "Stop making things up!"
"The day before last, there was a strong typhoon—we all ended up in the sea. Ou Yang jumped in without hesitation to save you! We saw it clearly!" Zhang Xiaoli said, then glanced at Chen Yanling and Liang Qin Yun, who nodded in agreement.
"Don't blame me—none of you are any different!" Gao Ruolan exclaimed, surprising everyone.
"I'm not like that at all!" Liang Qin Yun countered.
Before Gao Ruolan could say another word, Chen Yanling interjected, "When we got ashore, she performed CPR..."
Before she could finish, Liang Qin Yun covered her mouth with her right hand.
"Qin Yun, please let go!"
"Chen Yanling's face turned slightly red as she stammered. 'Please don't make fun of me—about you and Fan's matter, I heard everything on his birthday!' When Liang Qinyn suddenly brought up this point, Chen Yanling pleaded for mercy, and Liang finally released her hand. The fish cubes were cooked, yet the F4 members still hadn't returned, which made them increasingly anxious. All day long, they hadn't seen a single trace of them. Back at Shidong, lying on their respective stone beds, they found it hard to fall asleep, as they felt the stone hall was too large and too dark—without torches, it would have been completely black.
A startlement scream rang out as a massive python materialized before the four girls. The serpent rose up, reaching over three meters tall, its wide mouth open and long, serpentine tongue flicking out, looking both imposing and intimidating. The girls, who had only seen pythons on television, now found them suddenly standing right in front of them. Huddled together, they resembled four vulnerable white sheep, their bodies tightly curled, trembling with fear and shrieking in alarm. The python, seemingly starved, launched itself directly at the girls. Panicking, they desperately tried to flee, but the doorway was narrow—only allowing one person to pass at a time. As Zhang Xiaoli approached the entrance, a hand suddenly grasped hers. She clutched it tightly, and the person pulled her up. Frightened, her body nestled into the warmth of the person’s embrace—how comforting! It was Zhao Yuanhang, who lifted her into his arms. Zhang Xiaoli blushed deeply.
Chen Yanling, panicked, hadn't made it to the east exit. Just as she was about to give up, she saw a long, sturdy pole stretching before her and immediately grabbed it. Under the pull of the pole, she crawled out of the building. Once outside, due to her inertia, her body leaned forward and stumbled into the arms of a male student—someone she recognized. It was Fan Weizhe.
Zuo Tianpei pulled Liang Qinyun firmly and gave her a signal. When the great python launched its attack, Liang Qinyun raised her violin while Zuo Tianpei blew on his huabu flute. Under the enchantment of the music, the great python gradually calmed down. Yet the temporary peace could not conceal its hunger; it continuously swayed its body, advancing toward the group. "Run!" Someone shouted, and everyone scattered like birds and beasts. But the python moved faster—with a single tail sweep, it knocked everyone flat to the ground. Then, it opened its massive mouth and launched its attack. Gao Ruolan became the first target. The python coiled around her entire body, tightening its grip with each turn, until Gao Ruolan's face turned pale and she grew weak. While everyone stared in astonishment, Gao Liang stepped in. From his ear, he withdrew the nine-tined rake and soared into the air, striking the python's crown with precision.
A tremendous roar echoed as the head of the great serpent shattered into fragments, scattering in all directions. Then, the body of the serpent fell like a stone dropped from the sky, crashing to the ground. High Ruolan fell from the air, landing directly on the ground just as the crowd gasped in shock. At that moment, High Liang appeared, catching her entire body. Ruolan immediately collapsed into his arms. She inhaled the pleasant scent of his manly fragrance and blushed deeply, yet, overcome with fear, she did not immediately move away from him—she could not and did not wish to at that moment. What about F3? Unconsciously, they had all drawn their hands toward the other three girls. Later, each of the four girls directly asked F4 why they had returned so late. Zhao Yuanhang from F4 explained: "We made a bet among ourselves—each of us was to bring a souvenir. But High Liang was slow in preparing his, so we ended up arriving later!" "A souvenir?" the four girls asked in unison. "Never mind—just ask no more!"
"You'll find out when the time comes!" Zhao Yuanhang said. "Look! There's a fishing boat ahead!" Fan Weizhe pointed to something faintly visible in the distance on the beach. "I can't make it out!" Li Tianpei said. "It's a fishing boat!" Gao Liang was certain, as his long-range vision made it clear. "We should get ready right away and leave the island," he said. Standing on a high point, he waved a small flag, signaling with gestures. Soon, the fishing boat approached. The F4 team and the four girls all boarded. Happily, it was the returning far-sea fishing vessel heading back to Hanhai City—so they were able to make the trip home seamlessly. At the West Heaven Luoyin Temple, Buddha sat on his throne, asking the standing Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, "How has Subhuti been doing in his earthly training?" Avalokiteshvara immediately calculated, saying, "Overall, he's doing well. However, recently he has become somewhat self-assured, even arrogant—perhaps because things have been going smoothly for him."
"Back then, when Subhūti accompanied Master Tang on his journey westward, enduring eighty trials, completing the final trial to reach the number ninety-nine and achieving perfection, he finally attained his true enlightenment. Now, as Bulu is refining himself on earth, may he be given another test—do you understand?" The Buddha spoke in a resonant voice. "Thank you, Buddha, for your guidance! I shall immediately begin my rituals!" The Bodhisattva Guanyin chanted her mantras and pressed her fingers into precise gestures. The Buddha sat calmly on his throne, nodding in approval. Tomorrow will bring an even more captivating tale—after F4 and the four girls return to school, new events will unfold.
