Chapter 046: The Missed Plans (Second Update)
"Keké, stop acting so innocent! Last night, Mrs. Liu's room was filled with noise—so loud it could be heard from the hall. You thought I wouldn't know it was you in there? Rest assured, sister, I'm not one to gossip behind someone’s back."
Li Yun stared at Lu Yun with a gaze full of both warmth and mystery, her smile enigmatic enough to send shivers down his spine.
How could this woman have only touched him once and already concluded he wasn't a virgin? She must’ve sneaked into his room last night to eavesdrop! How utterly unscrupulous—how disgracefully low she’s fallen!
Li Yun wanted to weep. Her expression clearly revealed she knew everything. What an unlucky disaster! But reflecting back—he had indeed been quite unguarded after drinking heavily; during the deep night hours, he’d been wild and vocal with Mrs. Liu, hardly able to keep quiet. How could anyone have failed to notice that? Now all he worried about was whether others besides her had already discovered the secret.
Seeming to read his thoughts, Lu Yun smiled gently and said: "Don’t worry—only I know about this."
Li Yun fumbled with his hands, blushing slightly. "Sister, since you’ve found out, I won’t hide it anymore. Last night, yes—I was indeed with Mrs. Liu. Please don’t let anyone else hear of this."
"Having a secret plan without the courage to act—how can one eat grass and then forget to pay for it?"
How could things go so wrong? With all these mishaps, what about his relationship with Tie Xinxian? Was that even safe yet? How could he possibly keep up with this barrage of misfortunes?
"Lu Yun," she added, "the dishes are in the cupboard—on the top shelf, which I bought just yesterday. Take them whenever you need. Whether you return or not makes no difference."
By now, she’d grown used to his awkwardness and wanted to avoid waking Zhang Yi. She didn’t mind at all—but Li Yun? If Zhang Yi happened to wake up and saw him, the consequences would be dire.
Oh, Grandma! You finally said it—otherwise, I'd either go quietly mad or collapse under stress!
With a sense of urgency, Li Yun rushed over to the cupboard she pointed to, opened it, and grabbed two flower-ware bowls and two sets of chopsticks. He barely managed to step out of that room—which had now become his personal hell.
"Lu Yun," he said as he turned toward the door, "don’t forget—I promised to come by tonight. If you’re going to let me go unannounced, then I’ll have to tell Zhang Yi about my surprise visit!"
Li Yun nearly stumbled, almost collapsing. That sensation of being overwhelmed—of being literally violated again—rose up in him with overwhelming force, sweeping through his body and into his mind.
Goodness! What's next? Can he even live through this?
Just as he reached the door, he turned back to ask: "Sister, is there anything else I can eat? Should I give the money to you or to Zhang Yi?"
Leaning half against the head of the bed, Lu Yun said softly, tiredly: "Go check on it yourself. Have whatever you like—money? Just forget about it. Consider it your evening travel fare, that’s all, hahaha."
Li Yun stared in disbelief. This woman was simply brilliant—how could she be so sharp and so elegant at the same time? If only she kept this tone a little longer, Li Yun would surely faint on the spot.
Escaping from the scene of chaos, Li Yun moved over to Zhang Yi, who slept peacefully beside him. With his breaths short and rapid, he poured out all of Lu Yun’s subtle but relentless pressure—without uttering a single word.
How tragic! How sadly doomed is Mr. Zhang Yi—the bear whose very heart has been shattered!
In the kitchen, Li Yun searched around until he filled two large bowls with braised eggplant and picked up four steamed buns with eggs. Only then did he leave for the dining area.
Ling Xiaoman was chatting with several female students at the canteen, laughing warmly throughout the conversation—her natural charm truly remarkable.
Li Yun approached her respectfully and said: "Ms. Ling, I’ve brought your meal—only eggplant soup and steamed buns. Please take what you can manage."
After placing the braised eggplant in front of her, he handed over two steamed buns with eggs. Ms. Ling took them, smiled warmly, and said cheerfully: "Thank you, Landan! Braised eggplant is one of my favorite dishes!"
Li Yun replied modestly: "Ms. Ling, your kindness is truly appreciated. I'm sure the food from our rural village will please you."
Ling Xiaoman had genuinely been hungry when she arrived—so she didn’t hesitate to invite everyone to share her meal.
"Come on," she said with a gesture, placing the full bowl in between herself and the girls. "Let’s eat together—it's more fun that way!"
Li Yun nearly dropped his napkin in surprise. He had originally planned for a romantic dinner alone with Ms. Ling—now those women seemed to have become rather intrusive! As he was about to move toward the corner, Ms. Ling called out: "Landan, let’s all eat together—it's more lively that way, isn’t it? Haha!"
What an unexpected, radiant woman! In just over a month of attending this school, Li Yun had never seen any teacher share meals with their students before.
The girls around Ling Xiaoman were also lovely—but compared to her, they seemed quite ordinary in comparison.
"Yes," said one girl, eyes shining as if filled with autumn spinach—her words streamed toward him like radio waves.
Moved by the warmth of the moment, Li Yun could only sigh and sit down, his eyes moving slowly between Ms. Ling and the girls as he quietly ate his meal.
The group conversed effortlessly about school happenings and anecdotes from Ling Xiaoman’s teenage years.
Li Yun found himself listening to a dry routine—his two steamed buns and one bowl of braised eggplant were soon gone. After clearing his throat, he said: "I’m full now—please enjoy the rest!"
"Really?" asked the girl who’d been giving him that steady gaze. “You’ve eaten so quickly!”
Ms. Ling looked at Li Yun with a gentle smile, as if sensing something unspoken. "Landan," she said kindly, "why don’t we plan to eat together again sometime? I'd like to treat you to dinner in town."
By now, there was no way for Li Yun to refuse—so he forced a composed smile and said: "No need at all, Ms. Ling. You enjoy your meal—I’ll be heading back to my classroom now."
Ms. Ling nodded gently. The girl who had been so enthusiastic about him, however, looked deeply disappointed—but once she was satisfied with her food, there was no real obligation for Li Yun to stay.
She glanced at him briefly before settling down to eat her steamed bun.
Watching all of this, Li Yun thought: "Little lady, you’ve got a spark—perhaps even a little bit of springtime energy. I’ll make sure to show you what it truly means to be a woman one day."
"By the way," said Ms. Ling as she stopped Li Yun just before he was about to leave, "how much do these dishes and buns cost? I’ve kept all my money in my office. Could you go pick them up after dinner?"
"Actually, no need, Ms. Ling," said Li Yun politely, “it’s not a lot—once you finish eating, just place your bowls on the table. Someone will come to clear them."
With that, he turned and walked away.
Ms. Ling smiled warmly, then looked at her friends and said: "Have any of you met Landan before?"
The girl who had been so impressed by him answered first: "We’ve met—though it seems like he doesn’t know us very well!"
"He’s a fantastic football player," she added, "one of the top scorers in our school."
"He also loves to fight. Whenever someone offends him, he’s ready to have a showdown with them!"
"Ah! That's not just fighting—it’s courage! A true man has to have some grit to stand his ground in life," said another girl.
The girls continued speaking, their voices rising like birds nesting in the morning breeze—never ceasing to talk about Landan.
Ms. Ling took a careful bite of her egg bun, savoring each mouthful while listening—and slowly, gently smiled, as if enchanted by the conversation.
