Chapter Seventy-Four: The Technique of Commanding the Wind

返回章节列表
Han Li gazed at Li Feiyu's increasingly commanding demeanor, silent and at a loss for words, unsure of what to say. Suddenly, Li Feiyu's aura snapped back, and he resumed his playful expression. He gave Han Li a quick wink and exclaimed with a hearty laugh, "How about that? Wasn't my presence commanding enough? Did I radiate the aura of a true, bold leader—so majestic and authoritative—that you're now utterly awed, instantly loyal and eager to pledge your allegiance?" Han Li found himself somewhat embarrassed, having been touched by the earlier part of the speech, only to be immediately brought back down by the latter remarks. Han Li stared at Li Feiyu with growing intensity, gritting his teeth and saying, "A true leader? I'd say more like a bear!" Li Feiyu laughed heartily, his laughter both relaxed and joyful, clearly delighted that he had momentarily impressed Han Li. Han Li, however, gradually regained his composure. Amidst the other's laughter, he suddenly said in a calm tone, "I already reminded you earlier, and you well knew your own situation. Now, I will ask you once again with care: if you choose to disintegrate your cultivation, I can ensure you live many more years—enough time to spend a long time with Zhang's lady. Will you not consider this at all?" Han Li's smile froze mid-air. His face darkened, and several flashes of sharp light shot from his eyes, directly fixed upon Han Li, who remained silent. Yet Han Li's expression remained unchanged—calm and composed, with no trace of disturbance—merely gazing steadily back at him. After a full cup of tea's worth of silence, Li Feiyu gradually withdrew the intensity from his eyes, his complexion improving slightly. "Han Li, you surely know," he said with a forced smile, "that I will never voluntarily disintegrate my cultivation. I know you mean well, but please, from now on, do not bring it up again, will you?" His tone carried a subtle plea. "Besides, do you think that after all, I've become a mere ordinary person, incapable of lifting a chicken, and will Zhang's lady still find me acceptable?" This statement from Li Feiyu carried a tone of self-mockery. Han Li remained silent, turned his head slightly, and gazed along the path toward where Li Feiyu had come from, watching quietly for a moment before speaking in a calm, steady voice: "Since you've made up your mind, I won't urge you any longer. Go now, and I hope you and Zhang Xiu'er truly succeed in your union." Upon hearing Han Li's words, Li Feiyu's face immediately brightened with joy. He gave Han Li's shoulder several firm pats. "Good brother, these words mean a great deal to me—indeed, they're the most joyful I've heard today. Then I shall be off." He then leapt into the air, performing several quick movements, and soon vanished at the end of the path, completely out of sight. "Oh, how painful this is!" Han Li suddenly clutched his shoulder tightly. The several slaps delivered by Li Feiyu earlier had actually been infused with internal energy, causing his shoulder to swell prominently—like a small red bun—now so inflamed that it was nearly impossible to touch. The discomfort he had endured was truly considerable. "This brat," Han Li thought, gritting his teeth, "wants to repay me for revealing his vulnerabilities by using just such a method. What a clever way to strike back!" As he thought this, he frantically reached into his cloak, pulled out healing elixirs, unbuttoned his shirt, and applied them to his shoulder. "Phew! After all, I managed to muster a moment of goodwill—only to end up with such a fate. I guess I'm not really made for doing good deeds after all. I'd better return and deepen my magical understanding. This ambush will have to wait until our next encounter to be fully avenged." Han Li thought with a touch of reluctance. …… …… Subsequently, after a long period of time, Han Li had reached the age of eighteen. During this time, the Seven-Perfected Sect, under relentless encroachment from the Wild Wolf Clan, From then on, countless conflicts—both large and small—erupted at the intersection of the two power factions. Many companions who had journeyed into the mountains with Han Li perished in these struggles, leaving Han Li deeply moved. The great bell outside the valley rang more frequently, due to the growing number of injured, which in turn enabled Han Li to refine numerous advanced medical techniques and significantly enhance his medical skills. Nevertheless, despite Han Li's skillful interventions, many senior figures still fell—either dying in battle or succumbing to severe wounds on the way, without even receiving treatment from him. Precisely because of this, numerous young talents from both sides rose to prominence, assuming the positions once held by the fallen. For instance, the Five Wounded of the Wild Wolf Clan—Three Eagles and Two Leopards—and the Seven Elite Champions of the Seven Perfection Sect, such as Li Feiyu, one of the dual champions, became particularly renowned. He had personally defeated one of the opponent's purple-robed flag-bearers, securing a high position as Deputy Head of the Outer Blade Hall—thus becoming both influential and powerful. His relationship with Zhang Xiu'er was also rapidly developing, now reaching the point of discussing marriage. Upon learning of this, Han Li could only gently sigh. He didn't know whether Li Feiyu's actions were right or not—after all, he wasn't Li Feiyu himself, and without having experienced it firsthand, he couldn't truly grasp the nuances of right and wrong. If it were his own situation, however, watching his beloved being taken by someone else, Han Li would have found it impossible to bear. Yet, knowing that he himself was destined to die, and still going ahead to marry her—such a resolve seemed beyond his strength. Therefore, Han Li had to remain silent, for people naturally have varying degrees of closeness and distance. As a close friend of Li Feiyu, he naturally leaned slightly in Li's favor—something he found entirely at ease with. Additionally, recently another significant matter had arisen, consuming much of his mental energy and leaving him even less able to focus on this matter. After countless failures, Han Li finally mastered the use of the "Wind Riding Technique," a supportive spell that, like the "Eyes of Heaven Technique," can only be applied to the caster himself and not to others. However, its practical utility far surpasses that of the "Eyes of Heaven Technique." Once Han Li activated the "Wind Riding Technique," he felt as light as a swan, able to leap several zhang effortlessly with just a gentle tap of his foot. The exhilarating sensation of swift, ground-bound movement and the joy of effortlessly leaving everything behind became so addictive that he would routinely dash through the valley five or six times a day, only stopping when he felt satisfied—fully indulging his passion for a master of light-footed movement. Of course, the effect of this acceleration is quite different from that of "Luo Yan Bu." The secret technique of "Luo Yan Bu" emphasizes making the most of every opportunity, transforming the impossible into the possible, and achieves acceleration through significant expenditure of physical strength over short distances. It is especially remarkable when performed in confined spaces. In contrast, "Yu Feng Jue" is quite different—it imposes only a continuous, minor consumption of magical energy, with no additional physical strain. The practitioner can run freely and tirelessly without ever experiencing physical exhaustion. Furthermore, this accelerated state persists until either the magical energy is fully depleted or the spell is discontinued. Therefore, it is commonly used by lower-level cultivators for long-distance travel or journeys and is considered one of the essential spells for such travelers.
