Chapter Three Hundred and Thirty-One: Command

Back to Chapter List
After carefully arranging several items, Han Li looked up at the shimmering hues in the sky. A moment later, he pulled out the green array banner planted at the base of a massive bamboo trunk. Instantly, the celestial light array vanished completely. Han Li smiled slightly and turned, heading toward other corners of the grove. In no time, he had retrieved all the array banners and discs, handling them with great care and placing them into his storage scrolls. Having witnessed the powerful effects of this newly refined "Reversed Five Elements Array," Han Li cherished it deeply. When he returned to his original position with calm composure, intending to summon his vehicle to open the way, he noticed something on the ground—a body that had turned into mud-like matter. It appeared that, as the light dispersed, the body had fallen from the sky. Han Li furrowed his brow, sighed softly, and with a flick of his finger, sent a fire ball the size of a fist flying toward it, which completely reduced the body of Yue Huang to ashes. This person was no ordinary figure—yet after death, he had merely turned into a heap of fine ash, which left Han Li deeply moved. Then, Han Li struck his storage scroll with a palm, and a beam of golden light shot out, carving a deep depression in the ground beside it. With a gentle sweep of his sleeve, a soft breeze carried the ash into the hollow, settling it neatly within. Suddenly, a flash of white light illuminated the scene, and Han Li's action of burying the ashes halted instantly. He raised one hand in astonishment, and a delicate, pale silk handkerchief floated gently from the pit, landing softly in his grasp. "This is..." Han Li glanced at it briefly, his expression now one of curiosity. The handkerchief had a slight yellowing, clearly ancient, and its fabric was unknown—emitting a faint, glowing luminescence throughout. Yet what puzzled Han Li was that the surface was embroidered with a blurry, indistinct map. Han Li grew curious and hurriedly examined the map, but after flipping it back and forth several times, he grew bored. Having studied it carefully, he was certain it depicted a place entirely foreign to the Yue state—clearly not the terrain of his homeland. Moreover, the map was obviously incomplete, either half or only a fraction of the original! However, since it had only recently been unearthed from ashes, it seemed that the Yue Emperor had used some secret method to preserve it within his body, otherwise the beast puppets would have discovered it earlier. Thus, this map must be no ordinary item. Han Li pondered this thoughtfully and placed the fragmented map into the jade box that held the Five Elements pills. Right now, however, wasn't the time for solving mysteries—he needed to find others immediately! After all, with the Emperor gone, the aftermath was proving quite daunting. When Han Li reached the Cold Palace and found Chen Qiaoqian and the others, another unwelcome news arrived. Inside the secret chamber of the Black Destructive Sect in the Cold Palace, they discovered the body of "Wu Xuan," who had recently perished after his vital essence was completely drained through blood sacrifice. Upon hearing this, Han Li was first taken aback, then immediately smiled wryly, saying nothing. Now, due to the Black Destructive Sect's affairs, so many of his disciples from the Foundation Stage have fallen in battle—when he returns, Li Hua Yuan will surely not treat him kindly. After all, it was his own actions that had triggered this crisis! Feeling deeply helpless, Han Li simply entrusted the aftermath to Chen Qiaoqian and Zhong Wei'nan, and then excused himself to return to Qin's residence. Yet he had never expected that, as soon as he arrived back, an unexpected guest would appear before him. "...Greetings, Master Han!" the well-dressed middle-aged man bowed respectfully. "Master Ma! It's so late—what important matter brings you here?" Han Li's eyes flashed with a hint of surprise. At that moment, Han Li had just returned from the imperial city, only to find that his fellow disciple in charge of communications with Yuejing was already waiting for him right in the courtyard. It seemed the wait had been quite long. "Uncle, I just received word," the dressed-in-royal-clothes disciple said solemnly. "The headquarters has issued an order: all disciples at the Foundation Stage and above must immediately proceed to the seven major camps along the border. The opposing side has already issued a formal declaration of war—within two months, the Six Sects of the Shadow School will face us in a decisive battle. The headquarters has requested a consolidation of all personnel. Additionally, I have brought with me a letter from Master Li!" He then produced a hand-order and a jade scroll, handing them over to Han Li. Han Li was slightly surprised but remained composed, taking both items and examining them carefully. The instructions on the hand-order indeed matched what the other side had reported: all Foundation Stage disciples currently on external assignments must gather at the border camps within one month of receiving the order, with the date of the decisive battle now officially set. And indeed, the spiritual seal at the end of the hand-order proved authentic. After verifying it, Han Li deepened his awareness into the jade scroll. Inside, he saw the ethereal form of Li Hua Yuan, whose words were remarkably concise. He simply instructed the Qin residence to no longer provide protection, as it had now been learned that the magical sect's plan to stir up disturbances within the secular realm of Yue State had been unexpectedly canceled. Han Li and the other disciples could now return safely to the border. Though Li Hua Yuan's voice was brief, Han Li felt deeply frustrated, as though he were about to choke on his own emotions. He struggled to suppress his inner agitation before withdrawing his consciousness. "I now understand the matter. Leave the hand-order and the scroll here; I will inform the others!" Han Li glanced at the items in his hands and then said. "Thank you, senior uncles!" The middle-aged man hesitated slightly before respectfully responding. Then, he bowed and bid farewell. Han Li merely said nothing as he watched the man vanish into the air. Only then did he slowly exhale and gently push open the door to enter the room. …The next morning, Han Li, Song Meng, and the others sat in the living room, discussing their plans to leave Yujing. "Before joining the great battle, I need to return to my family first, and then head to the camp. So I'll be going separately from all of you," Chen Qiaoqian said lightly, biting her lower lip after only a brief glance at the official orders. "I must return Liu Shifu's belongings to the Liu family," Zhong Weimang said, her face somewhat worn and her eyes slightly red. Though she didn't explicitly state it, her intention to act independently was clear. "I have nothing urgent, so I'll go back with Brother Han," Song Meng said with a cheerful demeanor, gently patting Han Li's shoulder. "No, Fourth Brother. I also have some personal matters to attend to," Han Li replied warmly, already having made up his mind. "Ah, well, then that will have to do," Song Meng said, looking somewhat disappointed. "How about I accompany Brother Song back?" "Chen Qiaoqian's only surviving senior, suddenly smiled at Song Meng and said so. Song Meng immediately felt delighted—now there would be some sparring along the way. Han Li, observing this, found himself silently chuckling. He hadn't expected that after this intense battle, Senior Four had remained unchanged at all. Thus, everyone agreed to part ways early the next morning. In the afternoon, Han Li went to Qin Yan and informed him of their safe arrival, then, in Qin Yan's great joy, said his parting words for the next day. Qin Yan quickly expressed several pleas to keep them, but Han Li calmly declined. Seeing this, Qin Yan had no choice but to accept. After leaving Qin Yan, Han Li headed toward his residence. Yet unexpectedly, as he passed through the small garden on his way, Chen Qiaoqian appeared there, facing away from him, dressed in a white dress, seemingly enjoying the flowers and just blocking his path. Upon seeing this, Han Li was momentarily taken aback and naturally felt embarrassed to simply walk past without saying a word. "Chen sister, what a coincidence!" Han Li greeted her calmly and then intended to pass by. But Chen Qiaoqian suddenly swayed her waist, gently turning her body so that her face, as vibrant and blossoming as a flower, faced Han Li. "It's not a coincidence! I've been waiting specifically for you!" Chen Qiaoqian said, her lips slightly parted. Her autumn eyes fixed steadily on Han Li, expressing a complex blend of emotions. "Waiting for me..." Han Li appropriately displayed a touch of surprise. Yet in his heart, he felt both a subtle bitterness and a quiet joy, unaccountably. "I've heard that Baiju Mountain outside Yu Jing is exceptionally beautiful and is one of the region's great scenic wonders. Would you like to join me there, Han brother?" After a moment of silence, Chen Qiaoqian unexpectedly said something that left Han Li quite taken aback. "Of course!" It seemed as though by some unseen force—when he first saw the subtle sorrow in her eyes, the words he had originally intended to say to decline quietly slipped from his mind and changed. "Excellent, Han brother! Let's go now. By the time the sun sets, we'll no longer be able to see anything." Upon hearing Han Li's agreement, Chen Qiao's face flushed slightly, her joyful expression enhancing her unparalleled beauty.
