Two days later, near an unnamed small island to the west of Shuangfeng Island, a streak of jade-colored light soared in from afar. As it approached the island's sky, the light dimmed, revealing Han Li and Lady Fan. Concerned that the woman's flight was too slow, Han Li had simply used his own teleportation light to carry her directly to this location. "Is the teleportation array located right here on this island?" Han Li glanced down at the small island and then slightly turned his head, asking calmly. "Yes. There are eight disciples from the Miao Yin Sect guarding the array. However, besides two who are under my direct command, the others were brought by Yun Tianxiao—all are magicians of at least the Foundation Stage or above, and I cannot control them effectively," Lady Fan said, her expression serious. "Understood. Bring your people out. The rest, I'll handle." A flash of sternness passed over Han Li's face. "Of course, Master. Please wait a moment," Lady Fan immediately agreed without hesitation, raising her slender hand and producing a communication scroll between her fingers.
The talisman transformed into a streak of fiery light and sped toward the island upon the young woman's mere flick of her wrist. Han Li watched clearly as the transmission talisman circled the hilly terrain of the island before directly rushing toward what appeared to be an ordinary mound of earth. Moments later, the light vanished—seeming to have entered some kind of seal. A short while later, three figures emerged from the mound: two women and one man. As soon as they spotted Lady Fan and Han Li in the sky, three beams of light shot toward them. "Respectfully, we bow to the Master!" exclaimed the two fuller, exceptionally graceful female cultivators, who immediately performed a deep bow before Lady Fan. They then glanced curiously at Han Li, but upon noticing that he openly displayed the qualifications of a Condensed Stage cultivator, they were instantly struck with awe and solemnity. As for the elderly man in blue robes trailing behind the two women, he merely bowed formally to Lady Fan.
Yet, when he looked at Han Li, a hint of doubt lingered in his eyes, and he opened his mouth as if to ask something. However, by this time, Han Li—who had already clearly distinguished friend from foe—had no chance for him to speak. With a surge of murderous intent, Han Li simply flicked his finger, and a streak of jade-blue sword energy shot forth like a lightning flash. The elder’s face grew pale with fear, but the sword’s speed was too swift. He barely managed to utter an “ah!” before a blood hole the width of a thumb appeared on his forehead. The body then fell straight downward. This scene left the other two women stunned. Yet, upon seeing Lady Fan’s stern, impassive expression, they quickly grasped the meaning and exchanged glances before falling silent once more. "Are the others all below?" Lady Fan asked the two women, her voice now cold. "Yes, all five are at the spell array. I will take the master and the senior to them right away," replied one of the women, with fair skin, promptly.
"Hmm, let's go, Master Li. None of these people shall escape." On the beautiful face of Lady Fan, a cold determination settled.
Upon hearing this, the two women realized that Lady Fan had indeed brought reinforcements and was truly determined to take action against Yun Tianxiao's party. Without further hesitation, they led Han Li and Lady Fan straight toward the small hillock.
"Open!" One of the women descended to the hillock's summit, holding a glowing red token, and shouted orders to the group below.
At once, a cascade of red light shot forth from the token and struck the hillock.
Ripples of red spread outward, and suddenly, a yellow stone gate, about four to five zhang high, appeared on the hillock's surface.
"Right here. However, all five of them have reached the mid-Foundational stage of cultivation—Master will need to be a bit more cautious." The delicate female cultivator, with her fair complexion, offered a graceful smile to Han Li before adding with bright energy.
"Understood." Han Li replied with a composed expression. Then, he raised his hand, and a column of silvery light burst forth from his palm.
A tremendous roar echoed, and the stone gate shattered into fragments. Han Lin, unflinching, stepped directly through.
The two female cultivators exchanged a glance, slightly concerned. Yet Lady Fan was fully confident in Han Lin, and with a word, she summoned the two women and followed promptly.
Inside the gate lay a broad stone corridor, about three to four zhang wide. Yet Han Lin's eyes narrowed instantly.
Perhaps stirred by the sound of the gate's collapse, two figures emerged hurriedly ahead of them.
Han Lin didn't pause to examine their appearances. With a single breath, two slender, shimmering, translucent jade swords shot forth from his mouth, darting straight toward the two figures.
The two figures were startled, still uncertain what had happened, and hastily summoned a crimson silk handkerchief and a yellowish small shield to offer temporary defense.
But the jade light flashed swiftly, piercing through both items. The two artifacts immediately lost their inner qi and tumbled to the ground.
At almost the same time, after a flash of green light, the two figures screamed and were carried back. Han Li strode steadily past the bodies, making no pause at all. The two small swords automatically flew back and danced around him, hovering at various points nearby. Seeing this, Lady Fan and the others were naturally relieved, though they paused briefly to attend to the two corpses. When the three women passed through the corridor and arrived at a vast hall stretching over a hundred paces wide, Han Li had already stood at the center of the hall, hands behind his back. Before him, a small teleportation array lay at his feet, which he was gazing at intently, as though studying something in detail. Around him, three bodies lay横 across, severed into several pieces, and a strong scent of blood filled the air. Upon seeing this scene, Lady Fan immediately beamed with joy, then, after sending the other two women to tidy up the bodies, gracefully approached him.
"It seems that you have truly reached the realm of profound mastery, handling our foundation-stage cultivators as if using a great ox to slaughter a chicken." The lady approached Han Li, her delicate lips slightly parted in respectful praise. "Foundation-stage cultivators, indeed, no longer pose any significant challenge to me. Is this array exactly the one you referred to as the transmission array?" Han Li seemed entirely absorbed in the array, only briefly responding before steering the conversation toward the object before them. "Indeed! As you've likely noticed, this array is now nearly complete—only the section involving the Dreamstone remains to be constructed. Once that is finished, it will be ready for immediate use. And the Dreamstone, I had the pleasure of showing you just two days ago. I have not, in any way, been speaking in vain." The Lady Fan spoke with bright, attentive eyes. "Since your statement is true, Han, I shall certainly deal with Yun Tianxiao. However, does this array truly extend all the way to the Imperial Ming Island in the Inner Sea? As I understand it, that is merely a typical medium-sized island. How could the magi have chosen to establish the other end of the array there?"
Han Li stared at the spell array beneath his feet, furrowing his brow. "I've heard of this from Yun Tianxiao. It's said that the Huangming Island originally had an ancient, abandoned teleportation array from the prehistoric era. The magicians slightly modified it and began using it themselves. However, that array could only receive incoming spells and could not send them out. As a result, the magicians used it sparingly. If it weren't for this single array enabling long-distance reception from the outer seas, Yun Tianxiao wouldn't have chosen this location. The elder should encounter no difficulties on the way." Fan Lady explained to Han Li with a serious expression. Now fully aware of Han Li's utmost importance placed on teleportation, she naturally treated the matter with care. Upon hearing this, Han Li nodded silently and said nothing further. As long as there were no Yuan-Ying-period elders guarding the site, he would not hesitate even in the face of a dragon's den or a tiger's lair. Moreover, he willingly accepted this slight risk—far better than making the entire journey back from the outer seas nonstop.
Moreover, Han Li was confident that this woman would have no reason to deceive him on such matters. After carefully examining the teleportation array once more, he turned to Lady Fan and said coldly, "Have your array master come here immediately to complete this spell. After I defeat Yun Tianxiao, I'll need to activate the teleportation array right away. Now go back and wait for Elder Yun. As you said, he will arrive at Shuangfeng Island within five or six days to personally oversee the market affairs."
Still, it was merely casual talk—nothing more than empty words. He had indeed tried several times to shrink the gold-feeding insects and swallow them whole, allowing them to slowly consume the Wind-Spirit Qi within. But upon attempting this method, he quickly discovered it simply wouldn't work. For the insects to chew on the Wind-Spirit Qi, they first had to bite through the golden filaments of the Divine-Defying Thunder. Yet as soon as even a small tear appeared in the outer filaments, the Wind-Spirit Qi immediately began to manifest. Panicked, he had to rush to patch up the holes repeatedly. Thus, if it weren't for the effortless victory over Yun Tianxiao, he would never have stayed at this location for so many days. Even so, a quiet unease still lingered in Han Li's heart, a persistent, unwelcome sensation quietly rising within him.
