More than a month later, on the summit of Huanglong Mountain near the border of Yu State, within a pavilion of jade and terraces, a bald man in his forties was pacing back and forth incessantly in one hall. After a short while, he sat down heavily on a wicker chair, took a cup of clear tea from the table, and sipped it, briefly calming his restless mood. Just as his composure began to settle, a flash of red light burst through the doorway and spiraled upward, dancing in the hall's ceiling. Upon seeing this, the man's expression changed instantly. He extended his hand and waved toward the light, and at once, the red glow settled into his palm, transforming into a vibrant, roaring flame. Immersed in the flame, his demeanor soon grew grave. After a moment of silence, with a face now pale and stern, he reached into his coat and produced a small, jade-colored bell. Without hesitation, he tapped it once with a short, sturdy finger.
A clear, melodious bell sound rang out, echoing through the entire hall and resonating steadily, spreading far into the surrounding areas. Simultaneously, throughout the entire Yellow Dragon Mountain, identical bell tones rang from every corner, and among the pavilions and towers, various hues of light blossomed, with cultivators of diverse attire swiftly emerging and then evenly dispersing in all directions. Soon after, a thick, strange green mist enveloped the entire area around the Yellow Dragon Mountain, transforming the region within dozens of miles into an eerie sea of emerald fog. At the hall where the bearded man was seated, several cultivators appeared—three men and one woman, all at the Ji Dan stage of cultivation. Among them, two men in their thirties were strikingly identical, appearing to be twin brothers. The third man wore a Taoist robe, holding a fan, and was a middle-aged Taoist. The only woman was slender and graceful, with exceptionally refined features. The four stood on either side of the bearded man, each bearing a serious expression.
"Master Lu, the great army of the Law-Weavers has indeed arrived so swiftly. Last time we received word, didn't they say that the contingent coming this way had been blocked at Master Bu's stronghold? Could it be that in just a matter of seven or eight days, Master Bu's 'Heaven-Wind, Azure-Wave Array' has been completely broken? Is something wrong, then?" The female cultivator asked hesitantly, her face filled with disbelief.
Just as the Great Han issued a series of commands, assigning the four to act separately in preparation for the impending great battle, a sudden flash of red light shot in. This caught the Great Han and the others off guard, causing a moment of surprise.
The Great Han paused momentarily, yet did not hesitate—reaching out, he smoothly grasped the transmission scroll in his hand.
The flames within it flickered continuously, and he heard the message clearly, his face now expressing a look of profound astonishment.
"Master Lu, what's happened? Has the Daoist envoy arrived?" the female cultivator finally asked, unable to contain her curiosity. The other three immediately grew serious, their expressions now grave.
"It's not that! Our reinforcements have arrived. Three of our Yuan-Center cultivators are already outside the array. Red Ling, you four—hurry out and welcome these three senior figures. Invite them here at once." The Great Han smiled warmly, suppressing his excitement and speaking calmly and steadily.
At once, the four Dan-stage cultivators were delighted, accepted the instructions, bowed to the Han official, and then departed for the hall to greet their three Yuan-Infant-stage colleagues. Meanwhile, outside the green mist, three figures floated in the air, continuously observing the grand seal array before them. These three were naturally Han Li and two other Yuan-Infant cultivators who had journeyed all night, arriving at great haste. Since they would rely on this array to contend with Mu Lan's cultivator, after sending out their transmission scrolls, they remained silent, each carefully examining the mist, striving to discern its hidden secrets. Even without knowing whether the array was truly formidable, the vast, seemingly boundless expanse of the mist alone immediately conveyed an extraordinary aura. Han Li, standing alone with his hands behind his back, his blue glow in his eyes flickering in and out, appeared deeply contemplative. Not long after, the green mist suddenly emitted a flash of white light, then surged and rolled, revealing a clear path before them.
Yet the elderly Ma and the Gu Duipu showed no signs at all, as though they had not seen anything. One simply looked up at the sky, silent; the other remained fixed on the misty sea to one side, his eyes unblinking, as if expecting something unusual. Only Han Li smiled gently, calmly gazing toward the entrance of the passage.
Seeing that the two individuals showed no intention to speak, Han Li smiled slightly and then took the initiative to inquire. "It's an honor to meet you, Master Han. I am Chunyun, from Qingxu Sect. These two are慕容 brothers from Huangfeng Valley, and Li young lady from Hua dao Workshop." The middle-aged Daoist quickly pointed to his fellow brothers behind him and the graceful, lively young female cultivator, introducing them to Han Li. "The慕容 brothers?" Han Li glanced around at the two identical brothers, a faintly amused expression playing at the corner of his lips. "How is Nie Daojun?" Han Li asked lightly. "Master, do you know Nie Sister? We've been guarding this array for several years now, and haven't seen our brotherly bond in quite some time." Upon hearing this, the two brothers beamed with delight. "Nie Sister is doing very well—she was just recently visited by me. It seems, however, that you two have truly not recognized me. That's understandable—our encounters were only brief back then, and it's quite normal to have little impression."
Han Li gazed at the two siblings, who were almost indistinguishable from one another, and smiled softly, saying, "You've changed greatly, yet I still sense a familiarity between you two—something that seems to point to a past acquaintance with me. When he mentioned this, the Mengdu brothers were taken aback. They had no memory of having known Han Li before. Yet, upon reevaluating Han Li carefully, they now felt a sense of recognition, as though they had seen him before. They exchanged glances, puzzled. "Ah, well," Han Li said, tilting his head toward the elderly Ma and Gu Shuangpu, "if you two can't quite recall it now, then we can discuss it later. Shall we proceed?" The Chongxu Master, who had been momentarily confused by the fact that Han Li and the Mengdu brothers seemed to know each other, now felt reassured.
Hearing Mr. Han say this, the others immediately brightened and agreed enthusiastically. Then, the four of them led the way, while Han and his two companions calmly flew into the misty sea. Not long after they entered, the passage smoothly resealed itself as the green mist surged and rippled. A short while later, Han and his companions found themselves in the hall, where they met the bearded man.
"Welcome, gentlemen, to lend your support to the Run Alliance. These two—aren't they Ma brother and Guu friend? As for this younger friend, could you kindly introduce him to Lu?" The bearded man, whose initially stern expression now warmed into a smile, immediately named Ma and Guu Duipu, clearly recognizing them. Yet, he seemed entirely unfamiliar with Han, his gaze curiously scanning Han before asking, "Ah, it's not surprising that Lu doesn't know you. Mr. Han has only recently achieved his Yuan婴 stage—his future prospects are truly bright!"
The elder named Ma, upon seeing the bald man, did not show any surprise at all, but instead chuckled and said, "Ah, so you're the new comers! It's no wonder I've never met you before! Still, no matter what, I must sincerely thank you three for your steadfast support. Without your help, I simply wouldn't have the confidence to last even a few days!" Hearing that Han Li had only recently attained the Yuan'ing stage, the land-dweller's face briefly showed a touch of disappointment, yet soon recovered, expressing his gratitude continuously. The slight remark of the bald man naturally caught Han Li's attention, yet he remained calm and smiling, showing not the slightest sign of displeasure. After chatting a bit more with Gu Du Bupu about past memories, the bald man then grew serious and outlined the current dire situation.
