Simply walk into a modest room in the attic, and there, the tall man is already stiffened on the ground, his eyes wide as oxen's, filled with sheer terror. Han Li flips his hand once, and a slender silver needle appears between his two fingers. Without a word, he approaches and swiftly pierces the man's temples with several quick stabs. The man shivers, then his eyes gradually lose their luster, growing dull and vacant. Han Li then clasps his hands in seals, murmuring low incantations, and a series of spells strike the man's body consecutively. The coldness immediately vanishes from the man's body; his eyes, once lifeless, now guide him to roll over and sit upright like a puppet, motionless. Han Li's face glows with a pale green hue. He shakes his sleeve, and several array flags of varying colors shoot out, each planted around the two figures, forming suddenly a barrier that separates their vital energies. Then, as the array is activated, his figure flickers and he stands behind the man.
Han Li raised one hand slightly, spreading his fingers gently upon the large man's head, while radiant light surged around him, engulfing both figures in the glow.
After a while, he finally stood up,沉吟 and murmured, "With this Untroubled Needle, I should be able to seal this person's memory for a certain period of time, without immediately causing a commotion. Unfortunately, due to his cultivation level, the Dream-Recall Technique cannot be fully employed. Otherwise, I would have directly used the Soul-Searching Technique—what a bother it is now. It seems I'll have to make a trip to that small town." Shaking his head, Han Li gathered the array flags around him and then walked out of the room, and eventually out of the pavilion. Below, he paid no further attention to the Assembly of the Royal Advisors, simply heading straight toward the main gate. Many cultivators had already left the assembly en route, so when Han Li stepped out of the gate and took off on his flying vessel, the attendants at the gate showed no suspicion at all. A streak of jade light sped directly toward the small town mentioned by the large man. The small town was not far from the Snow Peak Mountain Range, and soon after passing through Fuyun Town, the jade light began to clearly reveal the snow-covered city of Xiangjiang.
Immediately, his figure settled at the city gate, and Han Li slowly stepped inside.
Xuejiang City was three to four times larger than Sunyun Town, yet it could only be described as a modest town.
When Han Li entered the city, it was already dusk, and the sky was completely dark. As a result, there were few pedestrians on the streets, and naturally, no one noticed the arrival of this unexpected visitor.
Walking along the streets, Han Li carefully and gradually extended his awareness, cautious not to reveal the presence of any high-level cultivators at the metropolitan level.
Indeed, there were cultivators in the town, though mostly low-level ones. The highest-ranked was a Jin Dan stage cultivator concealed within a residence in the southwest corner. Thanks to Han Li's exceptionally discreet awareness, upon a single sweep, this individual remained completely undetected.
However, Han Li had come to the small city not in search of any high-level cultivator. Upon finding no one capable of threatening him, he immediately drew back his divine awareness, subdued his aura, and walked along the street, constantly glancing at the buildings on either side, as though searching for something specific. Soon, he reached a broad intersection—seemingly the heart of the city. As he glanced at the sign of an inn, his pupils narrowed and he suddenly stopped. The sign was about five feet tall, bearing the characters "Yue Lai" in silver powder, appearing no different from ordinary inn signs. With the vast number of inns in the Great Jin province named "Yue Lai," there must surely be at least a hundred, if not a thousand. Yet Han Li fixed his gaze on a teapot-like emblem in the lower right corner of the sign, his eyes motionless. After a brief pause, he exhaled gently, then looked up at the small inn before him, and glanced around the surroundings.
When he found no one nearby, he gave a slight shift in posture, and with a faint glow of yellow light, he seemed to pass through the tightly closed door as if it were invisible. The hall of the inn was dark and utterly silent—either no guests had arrived, or everyone had fallen asleep. After a brief glance, Han Li closed his eyes and extended his awareness, allowing the entire scene of the inn to unfold in his mind. Suddenly, he became a gentle breeze, flowing silently into the darkness and vanishing without a trace.
A dark, indistinct figure stood by the bedside, its two gleaming eyes coldly observing him. "You..." He was about to shout loudly when a flash of silver passed before his eyes, and as his throat grew numb, he found himself unable to utter a single sound. "Speak softly. Though there are no cultivators within the inn, I don't wish to disturb anyone. Please examine this object first." The figure raised a hand, and a bright silver key appeared in the innkeeper's hands. Upon seeing the silver key, the innkeeper's body trembled slightly, then relaxed completely, his eyes now bright with surprise. This figure, of course, was Han Li, who had quietly entered the inn. The innkeeper hurriedly jumped off the bed, gesturing with his hands, trying to speak, yet still unable to form any words. Han Li smiled gently, then raised his hand again, and a strand of silver thread shot back from his throat and landed in his palm—a slender silver needle, fine as a hair. "Would it be possible for me to examine that key once more?"
The innkeeper coughed a few times and finally regained his ability to speak. Han Li said nothing, simply threw the key to him. The innkeeper took the silver key and carefully examined it for a long while before his face brightened with respect. He then bowed deeply and handed the key back to Han Li, saying, "Are you the young master?"
"Have you verified the key? Do you have any further questions?" Han Li did not answer directly, but spoke calmly.
"None, truly. Since the young master has come to find me and possesses this very key, your identity must be genuine. Just...," the innkeeper subconsciously glanced back at his young wife.
"Rest assured. Before I woke you up, I already cast a spell that caused her to fall into a deep unconscious state. Any time you shouted at her, she would not have heard a thing." Han Li's gaze flickered slightly, yet his expression remained unchanged.
"Then that's settled. The headmaster hasn't contacted me in several years now. As a commoner, I have no idea what has happened."
He was even more afraid of disturbing the others, fearing that he might draw the attention of other cultivators. Now that the young master had arrived with the key, the old servant finally felt at ease. Had it not been for the master’s words that the young master would appear differently next time, she truly wouldn’t have dared to recognize him casually. The innkeeper spoke earnestly.
"The Feng family has indeed encountered some difficulties, so this time I need to open the secret cavern and retrieve certain items. Besides the master, there should be a backup map stored with you, as the location of the secret cavern. Please hand it over!" Han Li spoke without hesitation, using a commanding tone.
"Of course! With the key to the secret cavern, the young master is certainly entitled to enter. Please wait a moment!" The innkeeper said with no doubt at all. Then, with a flurry of activity, he quickly dressed himself and led Han Li out of the room, heading straight toward the back courtyard of the inn.
The result came from a humble corner of the courtyard, where the inn owner had casually picked up an iron spade and, after a few vigorous digs, carefully felt through the soil with his hands, finally drawing out a seemingly ordinary blue brick. Only then did he wipe the sweat from his brow and turn around. "The sealed address of the hidden cavern is inscribed within this object, protected by a spell. As a servant, I am unable to unlock it, nor have I ever personally witnessed it. I believe the young master should have the means to do so!" The elder handed the blue brick to Han Li, speaking hesitantly. "Of course, I have my own way of handling this. Also, since I've taken this object, you need not remain in this city anymore. You should leave immediately and settle elsewhere, living under a new name!" Han Li accepted the brick, examined it carefully, and nodded in satisfaction, confirming its authenticity. Then, with a serious expression, he instructed, "So it seems the Feng family has indeed encountered trouble! Master need not worry—I will leave this place within a few days and make certain no word of your matter leaks out." The inn owner's face darkened slightly, and he promptly agreed.
"You just need to understand the implications. Considering your unwavering loyalty to the Feng family, here's this tonic for you! Though you're a commoner, taking this pill will surely strengthen your body and extend your life!" Han Li folded the blue bricks and, after glancing at the elder's subdued expression, suddenly reached out and flipped his hand. A small bottle of jade-green hue appeared in his hand and he handed it over to the elder. "Thank you so much, young sir!" The innkeeper was first startled, then beamed with delight. "That's all. I have other matters to attend to. I'll be off now. Take care of yourself!" Han Li waved his hand, speaking with a composed and expressionless tone. Then, a shimmer of jade-green light flashed before the innkeeper's eyes, and Han Li vanished completely. The elder was startled, searching around for a while before finally confirming that Han Li had indeed left. He then lowered his gaze, staring in quiet wonder at the bottle in his hands. After a long pause, he sighed deeply.
…After leaving the inn, Han Li immediately took off, flying to a nearby unnamed mountain wilderness and landing there. Then, he flipped his hand, and the green brick floated into his hands.
