Chapter Nine Hundred and Ninety-One: Violet Mist

返回章节列表
Back in the cave, Han Li did not disturb them. After a moment's hesitation, he gently slapped his storage sack with one hand, and a stack of array flags and array discs materialized in his hands. Without any hesitation, he tossed them into the air. Instantly, various streams of spiritual light shot out in all directions, flashing briefly before fading into the cave walls and forming a simple protective array. This array not only provided concealment but also served as an early warning should any intruders enter the cave. The other two remained completely unmoved, seated in silence. Seeing this, Han Li smiled slightly and then settled into a meditative posture, sitting cross-legged in a corner of the cave, closing his eyes to rest. After one full day and night, the elder Fu and Bai Yao Yi's spiritual energies gradually returned to normal. When the two finally stood up, Han Li's expression shifted slightly, and he opened his eyes. "Have both of you fully recovered your spiritual strength?" he asked calmly. "Thank you, Brother Han, for your protection. My energy and that of Elder Fu have returned to nearly full." "Bai Yaoyi smiled gently and replied, 'Have you gone out, Han brother? Do you know where we are now?'" The wealthy elder, however, glanced at the massive array in the center and asked with genuine curiosity. "Not exactly. We seem to be deep within a huge mountain, surrounded by various seals and restrictions—leaving this place appears to be no easy task," Han Li said calmly. "A great mountain? Given that Han brother hails from overseas and may not be familiar with the famous mountains and ranges of the inland regions, that makes perfect sense. But I believe I might be able to identify this one," the wealthy elder said, his eyes bright with confidence. "Hm, really? Then why not go out and take a look first?" Han Li chuckled, remaining unconvinced. "From the way you're speaking, it seems this mountain holds some special significance. May I also go out and see?" Bai Yaoyi immediately sensed something important, her bright eyes gleaming as she spoke. Han Li nodded, maintaining his reserved, thoughtful expression. Naturally, with his superior display of power compared to these two, he had now become the leading figure. Thus, after exchanging a glance, the elder and Bai Yaoyi instantly transformed into two beams of light and flew out of the cave. Han Li remained seated on the ground without rising, yet with a simple hand motion, the tracking disk appeared in his hands. He glanced at the disk, where two distinct points—one white, one black—were clearly visible. Han Li narrowed his eyes, gazing silently at the disk. After an indeterminate period of time, he raised an eyebrow, and a radiant glow surged from his hands, causing the disk to vanish entirely. A moment later, the entrance of the cave flashed with light, and the elder from the Fu family, along with Bai Yaoyi, returned in flight. However, when they materialized before Han Li, both of their faces bore a less than cheerful expression. "How did it go, the two of you? Any discoveries?" Han Li smiled slightly, his expression both warm and subtly amused. Though he was not particularly familiar with the Great Jin realm, if there truly existed such a magnificent spiritual mountain, he surely would have known of it. Indeed, as soon as Han Li uttered these words, the elder from the Fu family broke into a wry smile. "Han brother, please don't jest." Such a towering mountain—I have neither seen nor heard of it. I'm not even certain whether we are still within the realm of the Great Jin Dynasty. Upon saying this, the elder's face revealed a touch of concern. "Indeed. If this extraordinary mountain is indeed a sacred mountain of the Great Jin, I would surely have heard of it." Bai Yaoyi also furrowed her brows, her expression thoughtful. "Perhaps. Though I am uncertain about the outer restrictions and the conditions beyond the mountain, the transmission array here is undoubtedly established by ancient cultivators. The sudden activation of the array, transporting us and the silver-winged yaksha to this location, may have been triggered by some disturbance within the array during a conflict, or by some previously unknown cause. Nevertheless, these details are now secondary. What matters now is that we successfully prepare the infant-nourishing pill and then investigate this mountain further. What do you two think?" Han Li spoke calmly. "Your reasoning is sound. The qi here is so abundant that we could remain at ease for an extended period." Moreover, even if this mountain harbors some unusual secrets, with Brother Han here, we need not worry. Perhaps it's even an opportunity for us! The wealthy elder paused, then smiled warmly. Bai Yaoyi, equally eager for the Pei Ying Dan, naturally had no objections. She nodded in agreement. "Brother Fu, your kind words are most generous! Both of you have likely noticed—due to the outer seal, our consciousnesses are significantly suppressed here. Our awareness extends only a few miles from our bodies. Given the mountain's vast size, even if we work together, it's unclear when we'll manage to explore it thoroughly." Han suddenly shifted his tone. "Indeed. I've noticed this as well. Moreover, the mountain feels so lifeless and stagnant—it's truly quite strange. It seems far from a comfortable or peaceful place." Bai Yaoyi echoed his sentiments. "Regardless of the mountain's peculiarities, the abundance of spiritual energy here is highly beneficial for crafting immortal elixirs. Let us therefore focus first on producing the Pei Ying Dan." The wealthy elder chuckled several times. Han Li and Bai Yao Yi naturally had no objections, so the group immediately set up a gathering spirit array within the cave, and then added several additional protective seals before the elder began to refine the Pei Ying Pill. During this time, Han Li and Bai Yao Yi remained within the cave, guarding it as if they were protectors. After all, the Pei Ying Pill was of utmost importance to them. Even if there were some hidden mysteries in this mountain, they would not be distracted for the moment. While Han Li and the others patiently waited for the Pei Ying Pill to be completed, a stone pavilion located halfway up the great mountain gathered a number of cultivators from the Ye family. Most of them sat cross-legged near the pavilion, each holding a piece of spiritual stone in both hands, clearly restoring their spiritual energy. The white-robed scholar, the senior elder of the Ye family, floated above the pavilion, gazing toward a long stone staircase built against the mountain's slope. The staircase was entirely composed of pure white stones, stretching out like a celestial staircase from afar. But upon drawing near, the white stone steps proved astonishingly broad—nearly fifty or sixty paces wide. Whether gazing upward or bending downward, the steps vanished into the pale, thin mist, completely out of sight. The scholar remained motionless and expressionless, suspended in midair. Not long afterward, a flash of light appeared on the horizon, and a magnificent streak of light surged downward, directly heading toward the stone pavilion. Only then did the scholar's expression shift, turning his gaze toward the streak. In moments, the golden-yellow streak reached his side. As the light faded, a strangely shaped, large-headed figure emerged—none other than Ye Family's "Seventh Uncle." "Third Younger Brother, I've investigated the path. After ascending several miles along the steps, there stands a gateway—apparently the renowned Wàn Xiū Gate. However, it is currently sealed by a spell. Unless this seal is broken, there is no way to proceed further," said the figure seriously. "The Wàn Xiū Gate! That must be it." It is said that in ancient times, there once lived as many as ten thousand ancient cultivators on Kunwu Mountain. Only after passing through this gate did one reach the various dwelling palaces of the cultivators on Kunwu Mountain. The scholar exhaled deeply, his expression relaxing. "However, I believe the seal on this gate is no ordinary affair. We should act promptly—there isn't much time to waste.!" The strange man glanced at the cultivators still adjusting their qi beneath the pavilion, yet frowned. "I fully understand this matter. But the others have greatly depleted their inner energies and must first restore their balance. Even if I and my seventh uncle are unharmed, this place is far from safe. We must ensure the senior elders are protected, and thus cannot spare our full attention." The scholar sighed, somewhat helpless. "That's true! We never expected passing through the seal's fissure to be so difficult. Fortunately, all the ones who came this time are cultivators at the Yuan Ying level or above—otherwise, there would surely have been casualties." The strange man could only shake his head in resignation. The scholar smiled upon hearing this, just about to speak when suddenly his face changed, and he sharply turned toward a certain direction. "What's wrong?" the stranger was startled and asked. "There seems to be a sound coming from that way," the scholar said seriously. "A sound?" The stranger was puzzled, his magical energy shifting throughout his body, and faintly, as if from deep within, he heard a roar—somewhere between a lion and a tiger, or perhaps a dragon's call—and the sound grew stronger and stronger. "What is this? It seems something is truly approaching!" The stranger's eyes flashed with cold light, and with a single hand motion, he produced a shimmering silver object. The scholar also turned his gaze toward the distance, his eyes never blinking. A moment later, a patch of purple mist began to emerge in the distance and surged toward them, the roar emanating from within the mist. In a short while, the purple mist reached close to the stone pavilion, only about a hundred paces away. The scholar and the odd man could now see a dark shape hidden within the mist. Two massive, glowing crimson eyes, full of bloodthirsty fury, fixed upon them—clearly no gentle creature. Suddenly, the odd man's expression darkened, and with a single hand movement, a streak of silver light shot forth, then vanished instantly. Yet at that very moment, a colossal claw, like a chicken's foot, surged forth from the purple mist with a sharp "thud," and silver light flashed upon its surface. A deep roar erupted from the mist as the giant claw seized the silver light firmly, revealing it to be a small, luminous silver shuttle, only a few inches in size. However, several drops of green blood seeped from the claw, and the mist-bound creature let out a loud, pained roar. Its eyes then flashed with renewed ferocity. The entire purple mist suddenly thinned and lightened, and within moments, the mist dissolved into nothingness. Only the two fierce, crimson eyes remained, blinking a few times before vanishing altogether. Both the scholar and the odd man were now visibly startled. This was indeed a monster skilled in concealment and evasiveness! Now residing within this mountain, their awareness was severely dampened, making it particularly troublesome to combat such a creature. After exchanging glances, both of them cast their spells simultaneously. The strange figure opened his mouth and expelled a jet of yellow, hazy swords, which spiraled upward and then transformed into a massive sword several zhang long. This sword then radiated brilliant light, dancing gracefully in the air before releasing countless sharp streams of sword energy from its tip, instantly enveloping everything within a radius of several dozen zhang. Meanwhile, the scholar sneered, shook his sleeve, and in his hand appeared a small green banner. He then tossed it to the ground, whereupon a surge of green mist erupted from the banner, rapidly expanding into a dense fog that instantly shielded the group of cultivators from the Stone Leaf family beneath.
