At the several guest pavilions of Luoyun Sect, Mu Peilin stood before one of them. Suddenly, a flash of azure light streaked across the sky, and a magnificent streak of light shot straight toward the pavilion, arriving in the space above it within moments, then spiraling down and settling gently. "Gentlemen from Gui Ling Sect are resting within the pavilion. The other two ladies are in the Bing-shaped pavilion," said Han Li as he stepped into view at the pavilion's entrance, and Mu Peilin stepped forward a few paces, speaking softly. "Understood. You may now go down," Han Li said, glancing at the pavilion behind Mu Peilin and then at another one nearby, before giving a composed nod. Upon hearing this, Mu Peilin bowed respectfully and then dissolved into a beam of white light, vanishing. Han Li shifted slightly, and in an instant appeared at the entrance of the pavilion. With a calm sweep of his spirit senses, he stepped inside.
In the main hall of the attic, two men and a woman were conversing. The two men were a lean, yellow-robed giant and an elderly man with an unusually pale complexion, while the woman, a beautiful young lady in her twenties, was as graceful and radiant as a blooming flower—none other than Yan Ruyan. Though they spoke animatedly, a subtle, persistent anxiety lingered in their expressions.
"Lady Yan, after so many years, you've finally reached the Yuan Ying stage. Now, we can be peers." Han Li glanced at the refined, more elegant woman, and suddenly smiled gently.
This once-top female disciple of the young generation of Yue State, Yan Yan'er, had successfully condensed her Yuan Ying and had now become a Yuan Ying cultivator.
"He heard this and chuckled dryly. "Now that the Gui Ling Sect is facing serious difficulties, with three of you holding high positions within the sect, you all come to our monastery specifically to see me—instead of staying in Yueguo to deal with the pressing crisis—what is it that you wish to discuss?" Han Li asked directly. Seeing that Han Li was not inclined to delay or circumvent, Yan Ruyan and the others exchanged glances, hesitating, as if unsure how to begin. Upon noticing this, Han Li frowned, his expression growing increasingly impatient. As soon as Han Li's demeanor reached their eyes, the elder and the Han man both felt a sudden sense of unease, their attention immediately shifting to Yan Yan'er. After a moment's hesitation, Yan Ruyan finally opened her mouth, her lips slightly parted: "Master Han, actually, this visit is to our monastery—rather than to you personally for assistance—we sincerely hope that you will step in and help us Gui Ling Sect navigate through this current crisis. Otherwise, we fear our sect may truly vanish entirely." "To assist our sect?"
Han Li arched his eyebrows in a questioning tone, a faint trace of scorn playing at the corner of his lips. "I know our sect once greatly offended you, but those matters were all due to the actions of the late Master Wang and his son back then. Master Wang passed away in the Valley of the Fallen Demon long ago, and now the Gui Ling Sect is no longer under the control of the Wang family." A yellow-robed elder hurried to explain from the side. "But isn't it true that Master Wang Chan still enjoys great freedom and influence within your sect?" Han Li remained calm, neither confirming nor denying. Upon hearing this, the elder and Yan Yan'er exchanged a slightly concerned glance, while the yellow-robed man, though startled, maintained a composed smile and replied, "Please rest assured, Master Wang Chan, our junior disciple, recently committed a serious error and has been stripped of his position as a Judicial Senior Monarch. He is currently confined in our sect's Reflection Cave, reflecting and repenting. Without a century of time, he will never again be involved in any affairs of the sect." "Reflecting and repenting?"
This fellow looks quite unfamiliar; I don't know his given name. He seems somewhat similar to Lady Yan, though. Han Li was somewhat surprised, but after glancing at Yan Yan'er and the Han man, he seemed to recall something and smiled lightly, asking, "Brother Han, your eyes are truly sharp. I too go by the surname Yan—I am a first cousin of Yan Yan'er!" The Han man hesitated slightly before answering honestly. Yan Ruyan nodded slightly beside him. "Ah, so the Yan family now has two Yuan-Ence cultivators. It seems clear then that the Yan family should now be in charge of the Ghost and Spirit Sect!" Han Li stroked his chin thoughtfully, speaking with evident significance. "Heh, to say that the Yan family is in charge of the sect isn't entirely inaccurate—it's simply due to Brother Zhong's consistent humility." The Han man glanced at the elder with the surname Zhong, hesitating as he spoke. "Since Brother Wang and the others have been unable to effectively lead the sect, it's only natural that the Yan family should now take over. I don't think I'm being particularly humble at all," the elder chuckled, shaking his head.
"Oh, is that so?" Han Li casually replied, then narrowed his eyes and fell into a quiet silence. The three from Gui Ling Sect dared not press him, and thus remained seated in stillness. Yan Ruyan was relatively composed, her eyes flickering with thoughts she couldn't quite pin down, while the tall man and the elder were visibly uneasy. The renowned cultivator from the southern heavens had long held significant grievances against Gui Ling Sect, especially from their early days. Though he had come to them under the guise of congratulations, and thus had not yet resorted to direct retaliation, he could hardly have been free of concern upon this visit. Indeed, if Gui Ling Sect hadn't been unable to withstand the combined pressure from several other great sects, they would never have dared to come all the way to Luoyun Sect. After all, such a situation—where a single opening could potentially drive away several major cultivation sects—was truly a unique capability, and in the entire southern heavens, only Han Li possessed it. While other great cultivators could certainly instill caution in the major sects, whether they could achieve such a level of impact remained to be seen.
"Even without the incident from that time, how can you possibly believe I'll step in to help your Guiling Sect?" Han Li finally spoke, but his voice grew slightly cold.
Upon hearing this, Yan Ruyan's eyes flashed as she turned toward him, while the Han official and the elder both beamed with delight.
Each of them had sensed a glimmer of possibility in Han Li's words.
"Should Brother Han be willing to advocate for our sect, we are ready to cede Yue State to the other sects, only asking that our lineage be preserved. As a token of gratitude for your intervention, we have specially prepared several gifts for you, hoping they are not too modest," the Han official said, drawing a deep breath.
Then, he simply slapped his hand against his waist, and a soft, misty glow poured out from his storage pouch. The light curled around the table before him, and instantly, three items materialized upon it.
Han Li glanced at them calmly.
A crimson bracelet, a porcelain bottle, and a pale green wooden chest.
Han Li said nothing, merely extended his hand and reached into the void before him. The three items trembled slightly and then shot upward, landing in his hands. At that moment, Yan Ruyan's voice, like a jade bead, suddenly resonated in Han Li's ears: "The medicine sealed within the porcelain bottle is our sect's sacred elixir, known as the 'Blood-Limb Pill.' This pill has one unique effect—remarkable healing power for bodily injuries. Even if limbs are completely severed, timely consumption of the pill ensures complete regeneration, restoring the body to its original condition. Due to the difficulty in gathering the specific medicinal herbs required for its preparation, our sect currently possesses only about twelve pills. Three of them are contained within this bottle. As for this Blood-Soul Brace, it is a relatively obscure magical artifact, originally carried by the successive masters of the Ghost-Spirit Sect. However, since the current Master Wang perished in the Valley of the Falling Demon, this artifact has been reclaimed by Master Zhong."
This artifact differs from ordinary ones in that it cannot directly summon combat power at will. Instead, it can nurture special entities such as lingering spirits and blood ghosts within the bracelet, and by drawing upon the blood qi absorbed through the bracelet, it enables these beings to rapidly enhance their strength before releasing them during battle—leaving the opponent utterly unprepared. As for the item contained within this wooden box, it is, in comparison, the most precious of the three. As she spoke, Yan Ruyan paused slightly, her bright eyes flashing with a subtle gleam as she glanced at Han Li. Yet Han Li showed no change at all, as if the previous two items had failed to move him at all. With a quiet sigh, she remained composed and continued: "It is said that Brother Han practices a cultivation technique rooted in the Wood element, and this box contains the famed Wood Spirit Pearl—part of the Five-Element Gathering Pearls, renowned for specifically absorbing the灵气 of one of the Five Elements while excluding the others."
Han Li, who had previously maintained a calm demeanor, suddenly looked stunned, as though doubting and questioning. "Indeed, it is this treasure. Although the Gathering Spirit Pearl and the most fundamental array, the Gathering Spirit Array, share similar names and somewhat overlapping functions, the distinctions between them and their true effects need not be elaborated upon by me—your brother should already be well aware of these. As for its comparison with ordinary Spirit-Eye items, as long as the cultivation technique matches the attributes of the Gathering Spirit Pearl, even ordinary Spirit-Eye items fall far short of it," said Yan Ruyan, speaking slowly. Han Li studied the green wooden chest in his hands with focused attention, its surface bearing a pale yellow sealing scroll that rendered the contents completely invisible. Suddenly, he opened his mouth and gently blew against the chest. Instantly, a cascade of azure mist rolled over the chest, causing the sealing scroll to drift down on its own. With his other hand, he swiftly tapped the lid of the chest. "Click," and the lid opened of its own accord.
