"A combined stage cultivator—well, even if we work together, we still wouldn't stand a chance against one of that level. Enough chatter—let's get down to business. I didn't expect to meet a human cultivator so soon. This place should be at least half a year's journey from the human capital, Tianyuan City." The young woman interrupted her companion's speculation, frowning slightly. "That's nothing unusual. Most likely, these are human cultivators out on a quest for treasures. As long as we eliminate the ones we've targeted, our mission is complete. Any survivors can be handled by the follow-up teams. Our job is simply to clear out the obvious targets." The demon's wings trembled and it sneered. "That makes sense. Then we'll move on. The main army should be arriving shortly." The beautiful woman nodded lightly and smiled. Then, with a sudden movement, she vanished.
Yet the demon suddenly opened its mouth wide, drew in a powerful breath, and instantly sucked the lifeless, headless body into its mouth. After chewing it a few times, it swallowed it whole. Then, with a sweeping motion of its massive wings, it vanished into the void, just as it had appeared. Not long after these two alien beings had departed, an odd hum began to rise from the horizon—first soft and faint, then growing steadily louder. At the far end of the sky, a dark spot emerged, then two, then three—within moments, countless dark spots appeared, densely clustering like a swarm of insects, sweeping across the heavens. These dark spots numbered in the thousands, each moving with astonishing speed, and in a single instant, they had closed in on the great mountain. Now, their true forms were clearly visible—each was a being exactly like the earlier giant female demon, complete with wings. Like the giant demon, they were bare-legged and bare-armed, wearing only minimal garments, exposed at most in vital areas.
Among them, the giant spirits were clearly more numerous than the winged women, swirling together and rushing past from the lofty mountains. The winged beings appeared continuously in the sky, flying nonstop across the heavens, unceasing for a full hour. Black specks still emerged steadily on the horizon, as if endless. A little later, the sounds from the sky changed—besides the constant hum, deep thunderous roars began to resonate. Then, a colossal structure resembling a mountain rose on the horizon, towering over two or three thousand zhang in height, with a pale yellow hue and a conical, honeycomb shape, slowly rotating in the sky. In front of this immense structure, dozens of winged serpents shimmering with electric light advanced steadily, drawing the structure forward. Alongside the honeycomb, a series of winged beings clad in battle armor and wielding massive blades marched in perfect formation, closely accompanying and guiding the giant structure as it moved through the sky.
Though it appeared extremely heavy, it actually moved with astonishing speed. As it soared over the massive mountain, the gusts it generated were so powerful that they whipped the mist below into turbulent swirls, scattering much of it. The great "honeycomb" structure, however, immediately provoked the white creatures concealed within the mist. Instantly, flocks of birds surged upward from the mist, opening their beaks to unleash streams of dark water arrows toward the sky. Upon witnessing this, the silver-clad aliens did not hesitate—they swiftly swung their massive blades downward, advancing with the vigor of a tiger entering a flock of sheep, swiftly decimating half of the strange birds in mere exchanges. The remaining birds, sensing the threat, cried out in alarm and fled back into the mist. The silver-clad aliens did not pursue them further, merely retracted their blades and returned to the sky, continuing to follow the great structure as it passed.
This immense "honeycomb" vanishes into the distance, and from the horizon rises a second one, nearly identical in shape but larger in size, similarly guarded by a large group of winged beings. Thus, one after another, these colossal honeycombs appear along the horizon—each towering and immense—until, after flying past nearly a hundred mountains, they finally cease to appear, replaced instead by a multitude of strange, ancient beasts. Some with three heads and two wings, others with dragon heads and bird tails, some exceeding a hundred paces in length, while others are only a few feet tall. At the backs and around these ancient creatures, one or several winged beings ride and guide them, moving in a continuous, majestic procession, numbering in the tens of thousands. After these ancient beasts pass, long, sleek, dark and luminous slugs emerge along the horizon—each several tens of paces long, with pointed ends. Though not numerous—only a few hundred in total—their speed is astonishing; they merely flash into view and appear at one end of the sky to the other in an instant.
Thus, in a matter of moments, these black specks vanished without a trace in the vicinity. The sky momentarily grew empty and serene. Yet not long after, a flash of light across the heavens revealed a new group of black dots. Upon approaching and taking a closer look, those who could see clearly could not help but gasp in astonishment. Most of these winged beings appeared no different from the ones ahead—men were as grotesque, women as beautiful as blossoms. Yet within each group, a few towering giants emerged, reaching tens of thousand feet in height, far surpassing their peers in stature. On their bodies, ancient symbols of gold or silver shimmered, and some even grew sharp, uneven bone spines extending from their bodies and faces, making them appear terrifying, as though celestial spirits had descended to earth. These beings flew significantly slower than the earlier ones, and as soon as they reached the vicinity, one group immediately descended toward the ground, while the rest scattered wildly in all directions, vanishing into the void.
Yet among them, two colossal beings floated motionless in the air, expressionless. At the center between these two massive forms, another normally sized winged demon hovered, arms folded. This being not only possessed wings twice as large as those of ordinary demons, but also had pale golden pupils and unusually crimson skin. He merely watched the search efforts with quiet detachment, until, after a moment, his golden eyes shifted and settled upon the strikingly prominent mountain below. Not long after, hundreds of other demons took flight and returned, standing before this one in humble submission, each appearing remarkably obedient.
"Did the advance party encounter two human cultivators at the divine realm level in this vicinity?" the demon with golden eyes asked, his expression neutral.
"Lord Mengxiang, the information we received confirms the location. However, we have thoroughly searched the surrounding hundreds of miles—beyond this mountain—we have found no trace of any other human cultivators."
"The mountain seems to contain a magnetic stone vein—something we cannot directly detect," replied a young female outsider respectfully.
"A magnetic stone vein? That's not difficult at all. Just open it up and see!" The golden-eyed outsider sneered, then raised her hand. A vibrant red glow emerged, swiftly coalescing into a luminous, blood-red orb that gently pulsated and swelled and contracted. With her fingers closed, she spun the orb in her palm and lightly flicked it toward the sky. A red ribbon of light shot forth, instantly expanding rapidly until it became immense, filling half the sky with a brilliant crimson glow. Then, she suddenly flipped her palm downward and gently swept it once more.
At that instant, a bright red line flashed sharply across the mountain's summit, then faded back to normal.
Just then, the two towering, mountain-sized outsiders in the sky simultaneously moved their arms, delivering a series of powerful strikes against one side of the giant mountain.
Two intangible, almost tearful forces, surging forth with immense power, coalesced into a single, overwhelming surge and struck the side of the mountain with thunderous force.
An astonishing sight unfolded.
A series of thunderous roars echoed through the mountain, which emitted a mournful groan, and half of its peak slowly slid down like a block of tofu.
...Han Li stood within a vast cavern, his body shimmering with gray light, constantly shifting and radiating, shielding him completely from wind and rain. Yet his face was pale with distress, his gaze fixed intently on a spot just seven to eight zhang away.
There, a gray-robed man lay split in two, immersed in blood. Beside him, a small banner, flickering with silver arcs of electricity, remained half-erect.
Han Li felt a deep chill run through him.
Just moments ago, a flash of red light suddenly illuminated the scene—precisely where the man stood, directly beneath the red beam—and yet, he made no sound, simply split into two halves.
Thus, the magical array originally formed by the banners of the array instantly collapsed. A group of black shadows, each the size of a fist, immediately seized the opportunity and surged through the dissipating lightning, fleeing in disorder. Several other cultivators were momentarily stunned before quickly displaying a mixture of shock and anger. The female cultivator named Xiao, holding a crimson jade ruler, also looked utterly surprised. On the other side of the cavern, several dozen feet away, bright halos flashed and explosions roared continuously, as the young cultivator named Zhù led the remaining十余 cultivators in a joint assault against the group of true green-eyed toad beasts.
Han Li suddenly realized that something truly momentous had happened. Startled, he didn't hesitate—pressing his palms together in a series of gestures, the gray mist around him surged several times over, and the waves instantly submerged his form. After a cup of tea's worth of time, dozens of streaks of light burst forth from the remains of the colossal mountain, now reduced to half its original height.
The foreign being with golden eyes immediately perceived the cultivation levels of the young man named Zhu and his companions, and merely said, in a calm tone. Then, with a gentle flutter of its wings, it vanished from its original spot, reappearing hundreds of zhang away. After flashing twice more, it finally disappeared without a trace at the horizon.
Indeed, this foreign being, who had single-handedly cleaved through a mountain stretching ten thousand zhang in height, had truly abandoned the affairs here.
