The Black Spirit man's face was filled with disbelief, and with a mighty roar, he waved his hands. Han Li's eyes flashed with cold light, and his arms radiated golden glow, from which a flying sword several feet long gradually emerged. A clear cry rang out! The sword flashed through the air! Not only were the man's two hands easily severed, but his entire body was split in two by the swordlight, the crystalline core and the green flame that had formed within him being shattered in the process. Even his spirit could not escape, and was completely annihilated. The other six Black Spirit elders were stunned. The leading elder, a high-level spiritual general, was among the most accomplished in terms of cultivation and abilities among them—how could he be slain so swiftly upon the opponent's first move? Immediately, four of them roared in shock and rage, rolling into the air to transform into four massive black birds, charging straight toward Han Li with great determination. The remaining two exchanged glances, then, without a word, drew their feathered staffs and instantly transformed into two streaks of dark light, racing off toward the distance.
Han Li's lips curled slightly. A thunderclap echoed behind him, and he vanished in a streak of electric arc.
The great black birds, startled, paused mid-flight.
In that brief pause, a shimmer of green light flashed, and a faint, ethereal figure with wings materialized suddenly beneath one of the birds.
Before the bird could react, the figure seemed to move with a single arm gesture, and a brilliant beam of golden light flashed and vanished.
The bird was stunned. Instantly, it felt a sudden chill, and its body split in two—two halves, splattered with blood, fell from the sky.
The figure flickered and disappeared, reappearing near another black bird. With a swift gesture, it sent out a golden blade of light.
The second bird, like a block of tofu, was severed in an instant, its once-sturdy iron feathers unable to withstand the blow at all.
Thus, Han Gui's figure shimmered and darted five or six times through the air, until finally solidifying and stably hovering in mid-air. By then, all four ghostly birds formed from the black spiritual beings had been cleanly slain. Han Li still showed no intention of ceasing. He gazed calmly at the other two black spiritual beings who had fled several dozen paces away, and with a simple flutter of his wings, transformed into a streak of silvery-white light that shot forth through the air.
At that very moment, a surge of pale-blue light erupted above another Black Spirit-being, and delicate filaments shimmered out strangely before fading into clarity, revealing Han Li in full form. Without a word, he waved his hand, and a golden small sword materialized in his grasp, then expanded into a broad, powerful blade of light that descended with a swift strike.
As the gray light swept past, all the arrows vanished without a trace, completely untouched and unable to harm Han Li in the slightest. Han Li, gazing at the bodies falling downward, his brow furrowed slightly as if remembering something. With a single hand, he reached out and grasped the air. A soft "whoosh," and a black feather, about a foot long, shot out from one of the corpses and came into his hand.
"Keep going!" said Han calmly, as if nothing had happened at all. Lei Lan and the other two looked slightly pale, yet couldn't help but nod continuously.
They might not necessarily possess such extraordinary powers. Thus, during the journey ahead, when facing Han Li, Lei Lan and Bai Bi, along with the others, naturally adopted a respectful tone, as if addressing elders within their own clan—without any other thoughts or concerns. With a companion as strong as Han Li, this trial clearly presented no significant challenges at all.
It would indeed be a matter of no great concern to spend half a day. Then, let us stay here for a while." Han Li also found this satisfactory and nodded casually. Upon hearing Han Li's words, Lei Lan and the others felt a slight sense of relief. If they could find the Yin Yan Fruit right here, it would be far better than venturing again to the third level. Thus, the three of them quickly discussed their plans. Qin Xiaoxiu waved her arms and once again released several dozen lizard puppets, sending them flying toward a certain direction within the dense forest, where they eventually disappeared into the trees. Lei Lan and Bai Bi seemed already well-prepared for such actions. Lei Lan raised her hand, summoning a white jade box, and while murmuring softly, the lid flew open, releasing dozens of flying ants about an inch long, glowing with a pale silver light, which then moved off in a different direction, humming softly. Meanwhile, Bai Bi shook her wings, and several golden snakes, each about the thickness of her thumb, shot out from her body, flashing briefly before vanishing into the ground.
Then, the three of them settled into meditation, each employing their secret techniques to activate the puppets and spirit beasts and insects, beginning a systematic search through the shortwood forest. Han Li remained suspended in the air, motionless, as though he had no intention of getting involved. Time passed slowly. After several hours, Lei Lan and the others had covered half the forest, yet still found nothing. However, after such prolonged concentration, their faces had grown slightly pale. Han Li, who had been leaning back with his hands behind his back, suddenly furrowed his brows and glanced toward a certain direction in the sky, a look of surprise and doubt appearing on his face. Just a moment ago, he had sensed an exceptionally powerful presence emanating from that direction, only for it to vanish instantly—making him wonder if he had misjudged it once again. As he pondered whether to go there and investigate further, a sudden exclamation burst from Lei Lan's lips, filled with exhilaration. "Indeed! We've finally found the Yin-Yan Fruit!"
Han Li, momentarily forgetting what had just happened, turned to ask, feeling rather surprised. "Indeed, I've found the Yin-Yan Tree! There are six of them growing in the same area, all bearing fruit—most of them fully mature." Lei Lan's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke. "Sister Lei, are you certain? Are these truly Yin-Yan fruits?" Bai Bi, upon hearing this, paused even mid-sentence, no longer bothering to summon her spirit serpent, and asked with a steady but urgent tone. "Yes, there are many fruits in the Earth's Depths that resemble Yin-Yan fruits. Sister Lei, please look carefully," Qin Xiao said, her voice slightly trembling. She too had momentarily set aside her puppet. "It's impossible to be mistaken. Though I've never seen a genuine specimen before, the trees and their fruits match exactly as described in the texts," Lei Lan shook her head, speaking with unwavering confidence. "Excellent. Let's proceed to verify their authenticity first. If everything checks out, we may not need to go to the third level at all." Han Li remained remarkably composed, speaking calmly.
It was originally only expected that the second layer might harbor the Yin-Yan fruit, though the chances were not very high. Now that they've found it so swiftly, it's quite acceptable. "Yes, I'll show you the way right away," Lei Lan happily agreed, rising from her seat with a swift motion. Bai Bi and the other two also stood up, though they tried to maintain composure—the excitement in their eyes was hard to conceal. Thus, under Lei Lan's guidance, the group flew forward with full speed, and within just one hour, they arrived above a damp patch of land deep within the forest, gently veiled in a faint gray mist. "Right here. There's a small pond nearby, and the Yin-Yan fruit trees are right by the pond's edge," Lei Lan pointed downward with a decisive tone. (First update!)
