"Several of you, this array directly connects to the inner sanctum of the Secret Path." The Yuan-origin outsider smiled, raising a hand and casting a spell upon the transmission array beneath. The array flashed with a bright white light, and as the outsider's form blurred, he suddenly vanished completely within the array. Only the divine statue puppet remained, motionless and still at its original position.
Glancing around, he found the cave chamber was not large—only about fifteen zhang in size—but its ceiling hung a glowing crystal stone that illuminated everything clearly. On one side of the wall, a square passage, roughly one zhang high, had already been carved. The large-headed alien and the green-skinned people stood nearby. The large-headed one was intently gazing at a magical disk in his hands, his eyes flickering as if deep in thought. As Han Li moved, he stepped out of the传送 array beneath him. A moment later, the array glowed white again, and the red-skinned alien emerged as well. Upon seeing everyone gathered, the large-headed one raised his head, smiled at them, and seemed ready to speak—when suddenly, a deep rumble echoed from all around, causing the entire cave to tremble slightly. Everyone's expressions immediately turned serious. "We shouldn't waste any more time," Han Li said. "Let's get out of here quickly. The city's protective shield won't last much longer."
"Luoshu said with some urgency... 'Yes, it's about time. I've lifted the seals from the four city gates, so others can evacuate first.' The Dahu man nodded solemnly, then suddenly threw his magical disk into the air, quickly pressing a series of hand gestures. One after another, the gestures of varying colors flashed into the disk and vanished instantly. A moment later, the disk began to emit a low hum, its surface shimmering with unusual light, before finally bursting with a loud 'thud' and collapsing completely.
This sudden development left the other three people equally stunned.
'Activating the self-explosion of a magical apparatus—this isn't merely about lifting the seals, is it?' The Dahu man, sensing their surprise, chuckled softly.
'An explosion array!' Hearing this, Han Li felt a chill run down his spine.
Indeed, he was quite ruthless.
Although most of the people had fled to the four gathering points, there must still be many ordinary civilians and some hidden cultivators who remained within the city. Thus, the entire city had effectively been buried under the green glow. The other two ethnic groups were equally surprised and exchanged glances. Yet before anyone could speak, the large-headed man had already begun to glow and, with a surge of light, transformed into a yellow beam, racing toward the entrance passage. Han Li and the others immediately followed, activating their own light trails. At this moment, above the city's surface, the once-continuous luminous screen that had enveloped the entire city suddenly revealed several large openings—each spanning hundreds of zhang—above the city gates. The countless ethnic beings who had gathered at the gates instantly burst into radiant beams of light, shooting off like meteors, scattering outward and fleeing the city. In a matter of moments, some of the light trails sank downward, vanishing into the earth.
Some simply rolled onto the grass, vanishing without a trace—exactly the mark of a foreigner skilled in both earth and wood-based elusiveness! Yet most others drove the various flying vehicles beneath them, rushing through the lower airspace. Almost everyone had pre-arranged their escape routes, dispersing in fan-shaped groups of three or five, never gathering together. At this moment, the high-ranking members of the Jiao Chi clan, stationed atop the silver "island" in the city's upper sky, clearly noticed the city dwellers fleeing. Immediately, the silver surface of the island flashed with light, and suddenly, a thousand massive white double-headed eagles took to the air. These giant eagles not only possessed two heads and were several meters tall, but also wore simple white armor across their bodies, and each of their massive talons was fitted with metal finger guards, sharp and gleaming with an impressive cold sheen. As soon as they emerged from the island, the eagles spread their wings widely and surged straight down toward the fleeing green-lighted foreign beings below.
One after another, these vessels moved with a speed no less remarkable than that of ordinary Jin Dan-level cultivators. As soon as these giant eagles had taken off, the island still shimmered with lingering luminous energy, and a fresh wave of objects began to rise into the air. This time, however, what emerged were long, slender black monorails, each no more than ten zhang in length. Carved with dark, intricate runes, they bore several armored soldiers—three to five in number—seated at the front. A total of over a hundred such monorails took off in a single burst, their speed slightly slower than that of the giant eagles. Yet, with a mere flick of their wings, they could span tens of zhang in a single stride, their speed still surpassing that of most of the surrounding non-human races' aerial movements. After the second wave of Jiao Chi clan pursuit forces had departed, the island settled down momentarily. But soon thereafter, several deep resonant dragon roars echoed from the island, and seven or eight massive figures suddenly soared into the sky—each one towering dozens of zhang in length, with a pair of vibrant five-colored wings sprouting from their backs.
Upon closer inspection, they were revealed to be fierce, serpentine beasts each bearing a pair of wings—resembling dragons with wings! Aside from their striking, resplendent feathered wings, the winged dragons shone with a brilliant golden glow, indistinguishable from ordinary dragons in appearance. As soon as they took flight from the island, their massive bodies blurred into the air with a mere flick of their forms, vanishing almost instantly. The next moment, these golden, winged dragons appeared thirty to forty li away, their speed so astonishing it left onlookers astounded. After three successive waves of pursuing forces launched themselves from the island, the fleeing foreign tribespeople grew increasingly alarmed, scrambling desperately to escape further into the distance. Yet, despite their numbers—counting in the tens of thousands—their levels of cultivation varied widely and were uneven. Those with higher cultivation had already escaped dozens of li away, leaving only faint dots in the distance, while the less experienced ones had barely flown beyond the city of Green Light, only a dozen li or so. Moreover, these latter groups—though the largest in number—were swiftly caught by the massive two-headed eagles within mere moments.
One after another, these great eagles plunged downward, carrying with them powerful gusts of wind, swiftly reaching the lower levels. With their sharp, pointed talons, they effortlessly pierced the protective spiritual light and various low-tier defensive artifacts of the junior alien forces, seizing the enemies' heads and shoulders, then tearing them apart or hurling them skyward with a forceful throw. Some aliens were instantly torn in two, their blood splashing across the ground; others were thrown uncontrollably into the air, only to be swiftly overwhelmed by several other eagles already waiting in position, who then pecked at them, creating multiple wounds—often three or four—leading to their immediate demise. Of course, some of the aliens refused to yield passively. Many gathered together, summoning artifacts or employing their techniques, launching a dense barrage of attacks of varying colors directly at the descending eagles. Yet, the power of these attacks remained relatively weak, while the white battle armor worn by the eagles proved astonishingly resilient in defense.
Besides the mere dozen or so that were struck at critical points and fell from the sky unexpectedly, all other attacks landed upon the great eagles were deflected by the successive layers of bright white light rising from their armor. Yet the great eagles, stirred to fury by these assaults, let out sharp cries and dove once again, launching even more vigorous attacks. In moments, another wave of cries echoed across the ground, adding hundreds more blood-streaked corpses to the scene. At this moment, the black single-hulled boats also surged through the sky. Observing the soldiers standing atop them, their weapons merely flicked with slight movements, sending out bursts of silver light that struck anyone in their path—those hit were instantly torn apart, unable to withstand the force. Fortunately, these soldiers showed no intention of lingering over the lower-tier beings, and as the black boats swiftly passed through the lower skies, they swiftly turned their focus to pursue the more advanced, higher-ranked foreign warriors ahead.
As for the last few strange dragon-jacks that burst forth, they had never paused at all, eagerly pursuing the highest-ranked foreign beings at the forefront. With their swift flight speed, they would only take a brief moment to catch up with these advanced foreign cultivators. Immediately, centered around the city of Lüguang, a great battle of pursuit and counter-pursuit erupted! At the same time, deep within a valley of an unnamed small mountain some十余 miles outside the city of Lüguang, a seemingly ordinary stone wall suddenly flashed with a vibrant green light and burst with a deep, resonant crack. Upon the explosion, a dark, gaping hole appeared abruptly on the stone wall. Then, a series of "whooshing" sounds emerged from within the hole, and several streaks of brilliant light shot out, spiraling before converging and settling into stillness—revealing four figures of distinct appearances. None other than Han Li and his companions!
Although the area was exceptionally remote and not aligned with several city gates, thus no pursuit forces from the Jiaochi clan had yet arrived, the members of the Dahu group still appeared cautious, swiftly scanning their surroundings with their divine awareness and then withdrawing it immediately. "The Jiaochi clan has not shown up nearby. Let us depart now. I shall take the lead in splitting up and pursuing separate paths. If we stay together, we may find it difficult to evade the Jiaochi clan's observation." The green-skinned person expressed relief and spoke first. "Of course. However, before all of you leave, I have one matter I would like to attend to personally. I hope you will not hesitate to accept it!" Dahu nodded, glanced at the other three, hesitated slightly, then suddenly said this. "What exactly would you like me to assist with?" the red-lighted foreigner asked, somewhat surprised. Han Li and the green-skinned person also looked puzzled.
