Chapter 1587: The Jade Palace Realm

Back to Chapter List
Everything that followed became simple. Under the instructions of Qianji Zi, the armored soldiers immediately dispatched some of them to gather additional guards and temporarily sealed off the area within several miles. As for the inn itself, it was naturally requisitioned. When Han Li saw Xiang Zhi Li, who had been summoned and heard the announcement, react with a look of surprise, he could only sigh helplessly. Then, Han Li followed the stout elder out of the inn, while the token known as the "Guanghan Command" remained at the inn, guarded by countless armored soldiers. Bai Yue and Cang Ying did not linger long, and both departed in turn. Only then did Qianji Zi take Han Li and leave as well. However, instead of riding on a flying light to traverse the city, he arrived at a vehicle drawn by two golden lion-like spiritual beasts, which had been patiently waiting on the street beside the inn. The stout elder invited Han Li to board the vehicle, and the golden lions suddenly rose into the air, their four feet generating a breeze, and the vehicle soared several feet above the ground, gliding through the air. Qian Jizi had no intention of conversing with Han Li during the journey. After casually exchanging a few words, she simply settled into her seat across from him and closed her eyes, meditating. Han Li remained composed on his face, yet his mind raced with rapid thoughts, constantly pondering the true purpose behind the other's decision to take him along. Even after hearing Qian Jizi's expression of gratitude, he did not feel secure enough to rest easy. Though he had once saved Jia Tianmu, the spiritually attuned puppet had already repaid that favor. Now, the only support he had was the Guanghan Mandate, which, when energized by her essence, seemed to require his active cooperation to fully enter what they referred to as the "Guanghan Realm." If that were the case, he might well use this opportunity to explore whether he could secure a super-teleportation array. After carefully considering it several times, Han Li realized that he still held value to the Tianyun clans, and with the prospect of real danger now seemingly ruled out, he grew calm. His current beast-carriage was clearly much faster than before, crossing half the city in no time and arriving at the city's corner where the Ba Yun Mountains stood. Through the window, he spotted the eight massive mountains stretching thousands of feet high, and a flicker of surprise crossed his face—he murmured to himself, wondering if the others truly intended to take him all the way to their inner sanctum. A while later, as the carriage approached one of the great mountains, it suddenly lifted off the ground, changed course, and veered around the mountain, flying directly toward its backside. Han Li was somewhat taken aback, but after a moment, when the carriage finally appeared behind the mountain, he noticed a small castle of several miles in diameter had materialized out of nowhere. Though not particularly large, the castle featured a series of concentric walls, totaling seven or eight in number, forming a strong and imposing perimeter. Moreover, the city walls grew progressively taller from within to outside, with the outermost wall alone reaching over a hundred zhang in height. The innermost wall, however, appeared to stretch nearly a thousand zhang. From a distance, it was less accurate to describe it as a castle than as a colossal tower. Under the clear sight of the Ming and Qing dynasties' spiritual powers, Han Li could distinctly observe that every hundred zhang or so along the walls, there stood a silver-white statue on the city's parapet. These statues varied in form—some were animal-shaped, others human-shaped. The larger ones stood over a hundred zhang tall, while the smaller ones reached seven or eight zhang. They remained motionless and lifeless, yet exuded an inexplicable aura of ominous power. In addition, along the parapet, rows of green-armored soldiers wielding long spears marched in orderly fashion, yet their bodies showed no signs of life or vitality—each one appeared to be a perfectly still humanoid automaton. At each corner of the castle stood a towering pillar, transparent and luminous, rising skyward in hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. Countless large runes constantly shimmered and appeared on its surface, exuding a most marvelous and striking presence. Han Li was deeply astonished as he watched. The beast carriage then soared directly into the sky of the castle, circled once, and landed before a strange, uniformly emerald hall at the center. As he stepped down from the carriage, Han Li instinctively glanced upward, where a scroll several zhang long hung, inscribed with the golden characters "Hall of Spirit Communication." A sudden thought struck him—his spirit puppet! Could this hall be connected to his spirit puppet, or was it merely a coincidence? While murmuring these thoughts, a cheerful laugh came from behind him. "Master, please enter," said Qian Ji. "This is our ancestral hall, the very place where our clan holds important discussions in Yun City. It is rare indeed that visitors from other clans are granted access to this hall." "Thank you, elder, I am truly honored." Han Li bowed slightly in reply. Before this Supreme Body-Stage being, Han Li dared not show the slightest sign of disrespect, lest he bring upon himself unnecessary trouble. With a slight smile, the elder raised his hand and stepped inside first. At the entrance of the hall, two white-robed guards stood guard. Upon the elder's arrival, they remained expressionless, as though they had not noticed him at all. Han Li found this somewhat surprising and glanced at them more closely, only to be struck by a sudden realization. "It seems that you've also noticed this. These two guards are sentient automata—both of the Ninth Rank from the Upper Clan, capable of guarding the hall day and night. Only we elder members and certain special individuals can bring others into the hall. Anyone else who approaches the Hall even a single step will be attacked without hesitation." The stout elder chuckled lightly, without turning around. "Ninth Rank of the Upper Clan!" Han Li drew a deep breath, his expression growing strangely puzzled at the demeanor of the two white-robed automata. These were equivalent to peak Lingxu stage beings—ordinary cultivators with such assistants would surely be able to dominate even up to the Huoqi stage. To have them stationed as guards at the entrance of this hall was truly extraordinary. Han Li glanced at the two impassive automata with admiration, deeply envying their calm presence. Yet at that moment, Qianjizi had already stepped inside the hall, and he could only follow. Though this Lingling Hall seemed somewhat unusual, its interior was remarkably simple—beyond the main hall, there were merely two side chambers. Inside the main hall, aside from dozens of metal pillars each as thick as a person, there was nothing particularly striking. Qianjizi walked straight to the two rows of chairs at the center of the hall and sat down comfortably on the main seat. "Then, Friend Han, please take a seat as well." Because the Cold Moon Seal involves significant matters, I've already invited two other senior elders from the clan to join us here. Now, in Yun City, all affairs of the Wangu Clan are managed solely by the three of us." Qian Jizi chuckled. "Ah, now I understand! It seems the Cold Moon Seal truly holds some notable significance." Han Li nodded, thoughtfully. Throughout the journey, he hadn't noticed any unusual behavior from the other party—yet they had already sent out a message. Indeed, no wonder they are a top-tier transcendental cultivator. "Are you not from the Lei Ming Continent?" Qian Jizi's gaze flickered, suddenly asking. Han Li felt a brief sense of alertness, but quickly relaxed and nodded with confidence. "Indeed, I am from another continent. May I ask—did Master Jia and the senior elder mention my request to use the super-transportation array?" "Master Jia certainly mentioned it to me, but if you're from the Lei Ming Continent, how could you possibly recognize the Cold Moon Seal so well, and activate it so effortlessly?" "Qi Jianzi smiled lightly. "How is it that the Guanghan Command is so well known? As far as I've read in various ancient texts, I haven't found any mention of it. I hope the elder could kindly clarify this matter." Han Li chuckled, saying this with a slight smile. He paid no attention to the fact that Jia Tian Mu had shared his story with Qi Jianzi. After all, if the master of the Wangu Clan, renowned for his skill in creating puppets, failed to mention the matter of the teleportation array, that would indeed be unusual. "It's quite natural that ancient texts don't record it. Though the Guanghan Command is well named, it isn't something that can be used exclusively by an individual. Without the backing of a whole clan, even if one possesses the Guanghan Command, entering the Guanghan Realm would remain a mere dream. Moreover, ordinary external texts naturally wouldn't include such details. However, once one reaches the level of an upper clan, few would be unaware of this." The plump elder flashed a sly smile, speaking cheerfully. "It requires the strength of an entire clan!" This Qinghan Realm must be no ordinary place, otherwise the various races wouldn't have invested so much effort without reason," Han Li stroked his chin and asked hesitantly. "Far from ordinary. If one could truly obtain certain treasures from within the Qinghan Realm, those treasures could even influence the rise and fall of an entire race. Of course, even within the Qinghan Realm, such treasures are rare and hard to find. The greatest advantage of the Qinghan Realm lies in its exceptionally dense celestial and terrestrial qi—over ten times denser than that of our spiritual realm—plus the medicinal herbs and fruits found there, which are utterly uncommon in our spiritual realm." The plump elder stared intently at Han Li, speaking with a smile that held both warmth and subtle amusement. "Could there really be a place with such dense qi?" Han Li's face revealed genuine disbelief upon hearing this. "Heh, my friend, do you think the Qinghan Realm is merely a spatial rift or some smaller, auxiliary spiritual realm?" Qian Jixi stroked his beard and chuckled. "I'd be most grateful for your guidance!" Han Li said respectfully. "Although we can't be absolutely certain, we have about seven or eight out of ten confidence that the Cold Palace Realm is indeed a fragmented space belonging to the True Immortal Realm." The plump elder's smile faded, and after a long pause, he spoke each word carefully. "The True Immortal Realm!" Even with his calm and steady meditation, Han Li was momentarily startled upon hearing this. "Correct—it's likely an abandoned space from the True Immortal Realm. Those who have previously entered have discovered traces of what appear to be immortal dwellings, even remains of immortals. Yet no one has ever seen a truly living immortal." Qi Jin's expression grew calm. Han Li, however, sat silently in his chair, speechless for a moment. "My friend, you needn't be so surprised. Even now, we haven't been able to confirm this hypothesis with certainty. Moreover, the dwellings and remains found in the Cold Palace Realm have not yielded any tangible treasures or cultivation techniques that would be truly useful. That doesn't mean, however, that simply entering the realm guarantees one will obtain extraordinary treasures." Even the precious herbs and fruits were usually found in secluded places, requiring one to search patiently and gradually. The stout elder then smiled in a most peculiar way.
