Han Li stood beside Yue Zong, his gaze fixed steadily toward the distant misty sea. Upon seeing the scene ahead, the young woman's eyes sparkled with eager anticipation. Then, the three of them ignited their flight lights once more, setting off directly toward the distant misty sea under Yue Zong's guidance. Though the misty sea appeared close up, the trio's speed was not slow, yet it still took the time of a cup of tea before they truly approached it. As they journeyed through the light, Han Li's expression suddenly shifted subtly. Initially, he had not noticed anything unusual from afar; but now, as they drew nearer, he heard a deep, resonant rumbling sound emanating from within the jade-green mist—something like thunder rolling across the sea, powerful and impressive. Suddenly, the blood-light form of Yue Zong paused before the thick, dense fog, solidifying into visible presence. With a single hand motion, he produced a second golden token from his palm, then raised it high, and the golden light surged straight into the mist, vanishing without trace. Instantly, the once completely opaque fog parted gracefully along the path of the light, revealing a naturally formed corridor.
"Both of you stay close and don't leave this passage. Otherwise, you'll encounter significant trouble." Yue Zong said this, then once again took to the stream of light and flew ahead. Though he didn't know exactly what troubles awaited him once he truly departed the passage and entered the sea of emerald mist, Han Li naturally didn't want to create unnecessary complications—instead, he calmly followed behind Yue Zong.
Suddenly, Han Li's eyes flashed, and a few hundred paces below, a cluster of buildings began to emerge faintly. As they drew closer, it became clear—hundreds of stone dwellings of varying sizes, arranged in two rows, forming a long, narrow town. At the very heart of the town stood a towering pavilion, over fifty paces high, built in five stories with massive gray stone, standing out strikingly. There seemed to be a few people moving about on the streets, though the number was not many.
Yue Zong roared softly and strode directly toward the pavilion at the town's center. Han Li and Xian Xian followed closely behind.
As Duan Guang gently withdrew, the three of them appeared almost simultaneously before the grand pavilion.
At this moment, Han Li glanced down and finally made out the details. A scroll bearing the characters "Lei Yun Pavilion," written in flowing, ancient calligraphy, was prominently displayed across the pavilion's several-meter-high main gate.
"Both of you, follow me," Han Li said. "This is where the sealing tokens are issued. I'm sure Miss Xian has been here before."
"Yue Zong smiled and said to the crystal-kin woman. "That's correct. However, when I came last time, I had to first go to another location and purchase a 'Fen Yun Ling' in order to enter this place." Xin Xin nodded in agreement. "The Fen Yun Ling you hold is temporary—it automatically expires after exceeding one month. The cloud-mist treasure I just distributed, however, is a reusable one. This is a special gift from an elder colleague who has been in charge of guarding this site for many visits, granted specifically to me. Though the outer layers of mist can be troublesome, one would not die if lost within them, and as long as one is trapped for one or two months, the locals will naturally guide one out. What truly allows us to enter the Mo Jin Mountain range, however, is the 'Bi Lei Fan' we need to retrieve now. The sealing divine thunder barriers are so powerful that even the Sacred Clan cannot force their way through." After explaining these points, Yue Zong lifted his foot and stepped into the pavilion.
The main door of the attic was wide open, and the first floor appeared empty, as though few visitors came there. After listening to Yue Zong's words, Han Li nodded and followed suit. Xian Xian trailed behind Han Li. In a moment, the three of them stepped through the main door of the attic. Aside from a few tables and chairs, the first floor offered nothing, so they took the stairs directly to the second floor. The second floor was completely empty. The three moved with little pause and proceeded straight to the third floor. At the entrance to the third floor, however, a faint white light screen appeared at the stairwell. Yet Yue Du paid it no attention, stepping through it with a simple motion. Han Li raised a slight eyebrow, then entered the screen with a composed expression. Indeed, the light screen seemed to offer no resistance at all. But as soon as Han Li appeared on the other side, his expression changed. From above the stairs, a bustling noise of activity reached them—several people appeared to be moving about in the third floor.
Yue Zong and Xian Xian naturally also heard the voice. Both of them showed expressions of surprise. However, Yue Zong's expression quickly returned to its usual calm, and he calmly advanced forward first.
The voice above paused, as if realizing Yue Zong's arrival. At that moment, Han Li also moved silently and reached the third floor.
The third floor was not particularly large, only about twenty paces in area, yet it was now crowded with people. Thirty or so members from various ethnic groups sat cross-legged on the empty floor. Aside from a circular stone table in the center, the floor was filled with cushions of varying sizes and shapes, each one placed beneath their buttocks.
As soon as Han Li and his two companions appeared on the third floor, everyone's gaze immediately turned toward them.
"Ah, Yue Brother!"
"Yue friend has also come!"
"Ah, I knew you wouldn't miss this opportunity, Yue brother!"
"...Upon seeing Yue Zong clearly, half of the thirty-some individuals immediately warmed up and began greeting him enthusiastically, some even possessing cultivation levels surpassing that of Yue Zong himself. Those unfamiliar with Yue Zong heard the name and instantly grew pale; several immediately exchanged reserved glances. It seemed that even though they didn't personally know Yue Zong, his reputation within the Magpie Mountain Range was already legendary. Nevertheless, there were still four or five foreign beings who remained unmoved by the name. They simply observed the three Han figures with quiet, steady attention. With a mere sweep of his divine awareness, Han Li found himself somewhat puzzled... So many here were already at the stage of Divine Spirit or above, nearly half of them at the stage of Transcendent, with three or more at the peak level of Transcendent. One individual, however, had his spiritual aura partially obscured by a precious artifact, making it impossible for Han Li to gauge their cultivation level. Unlike Han Li, Xian Xian's eyes flickered with subtle appreciation upon realizing that Yue Zong indeed held such a prominent reputation in this region."
"Has Master Yan been here as well? Could it be that something has happened in the Magician's Mountain Range?" After first bowing respectfully to each of the people he knew, Yue Zong's gaze settled on an elderly, thin man with gray hair, and he stepped forward with respectful inquiry. This elder was one of the three beings at the peak of the Liangxu stage, gazing at Yue Zong with a warm, kindly expression, his face bright with smiles—seeming to have a closer relationship with Yue Zong than with anyone else.
"Indeed, didn't you come specifically for this matter? Didn't you intend to enter the Magician's Mountain Range?" The gray-haired elder, surprised by Yue Zong's question, replied with a slight query.
"I do intend to enter the mountain range, but there are other reasons as well. It should now be the season of magmatic eruptions within the range—how then are so many people gathering here? Could it be that everyone is here to apply for the 'Thunder-Shield Umbrella'? That seems rather unusual." Yue Zong scanned the faces of the strangers with a serious expression.
"Who would come here if they didn't intend to enter the mountain range? As for the reasons, however, those are quite lengthy. Hm, these two guests—what are their names?" The elder first sighed, then glanced at Han Li and the crystal-people maiden behind Yue Zong, before hesitating and asking again. "It's quite all right. This elder Han and the young lady, Lin Xian, are my companions on this journey into the Mochi Mountain Range. Master Yan may speak directly to me. At this moment, I believe only we three are aware of this matter." After briefly introducing them, Yue Zong added with a touch of frustration. "That makes sense. In fact, if I were to condense it, the story would be quite simple. A few days ago, a human-shaped Zhixian suddenly appeared in the town, injured a cultivator, and then vanished into the ground, entering the Mochi Mountain Range." After a moment's thought, the elder began to speak slowly. "A human-shaped Zhixian? I didn't hear that correctly!" Upon hearing this, Yue Zong's face instantly turned pale. Han Li and the crystal-people maiden exchanged startled glances.
"Indeed, there's no doubt about it—Zhi Xian is absolutely correct. When it fled, someone struck it and collected several drops of its flowing Ling Xian blood, which were then exchanged on the town for a substantial sum of high-priced Ling Shi." The elder spoke with great confidence. "It's no easy matter for medicinal herbs to take on a form of life. Simply because they're old doesn't guarantee that they'll achieve spiritual enlightenment. Human-shaped medicinal herbs, in particular, require countless transformations and countless opportunities—only then is there a slim chance they might cultivate into human form. It seems that throughout the entire Ling World, only a few such instances have ever been recorded before. Once this news spreads, while it's hard to say what will happen elsewhere, at the very least, the entire Tian Yun region will be abuzz. So, the others who have come are precisely those who have heard of this news and have journeyed here specifically." Yue Zen took a deep breath, his expression somewhat unusual. "Your statement, Brother Yue, is slightly off. Perhaps in a few more days, the number of visitors from outside will grow even more. But people from even farther away will never have this opportunity."
Not only does this Zhixian master both earth and wood elusiveness techniques, it seems to have cultivated the distant elusiveness faculty known as "floating light and shifting shadows." Another young man with a pale, refined face interjected with a smile. "Floating light and shifting shadows! If this Zhixian already possesses such a famed elusiveness technique, why would the fellow practitioners risk entering the Magician's Mountain range? With this faculty, the Saint Clan could never have caught it." Upon hearing this, Xianxian was startled and couldn't help but ask, "This young lady hasn't heard of it yet. It's rather unfortunate for this Zhixian. The cultivator it injured was precisely one who specialized in the Golden Yuan Restrained Light technique. Though it wasn't fully prepared and was struck hard, the counterattack still managed to strike this Zhixian. During its escape, it initially deployed the 'floating light and shifting shadows' technique, but only managed to execute half of it before the Restrained Light effect activated, forcing it to reveal its true form.
I'm not sure what other powers it possesses, yet it dares to withstand the overwhelming thunder from the Thunder Cloud Array, effortlessly passing through the seal and entering the Mochi Mountain Range." The young man with a pale face paused here.
