Chapter 1,660: Refining the Armor

Back to Chapter List
At the side, Chi-Xian observed the scene and was unusually calm. Suddenly stepping forward, a streak of purple light shot out from his hands, lifting the white rabbit along with the tuber on the ground and bringing it to his before. The rabbit remained steady, calmly eating its food, as if completely unbothered. After gazing at the rabbit for a while, Chi-Xian's eyes flashed with a sudden gleam, and he couldn't help but raise his hand, reaching toward the light. Yet before his fingers truly touched the rabbit's soft fur, the creature emitted a flash of luminous energy and instantly vanished into a series of fleeting silhouettes. In the next moment, the rabbit reappeared on the ground, now standing on its hind legs, its long white fur standing up straight, constantly gnashing its teeth at Chi-Xian. Clearly, Chi-Xian's initial actions had greatly disturbed this spirit creature. Seeing this, Chi-Xian smiled, shifting his aura, and at the same time, the purple light on his body transformed into a vibrant green. A strong, rich wood energy radiated from him. The once-trembling white rabbit, upon making contact with this spiritual energy, paused in surprise. After gently sniffing with its pink nose, its expression calmed considerably, and its gaze toward Zhi Xian grew more affectionate. "Come here, little one," Zhi Xian said, clapping her hands and then extending a single hand toward the rabbit. It seemed the rabbit truly understood Zhi Xian's words. After a brief hesitation, it leapt forward with a sudden push of its hind legs and landed right in her arms. Zhi Xian was delighted, carefully stroking the rabbit's head with her palm, her face beaming with joy. The rabbit narrowed its eyes, appearing content, and even extended its tender, pink tongue to gently lick Zhi Xian's fingers. "Excellent. Truly, it seems only a short distance away from achieving full spiritual awareness. Friend Han, since this fellow has been able to move so freely within your herb garden, it must mean you have been particularly kind to it. Then I shall further awaken its spiritual faculties and impart some knowledge to it. Do you have any objections? While gently caressing the white rabbit in her arms, Zhixin turned her head and said to Han Li seriously. "Help it awaken its spiritual intelligence?" Han Li was slightly surprised, his expression reflecting thoughtful consideration. "Exactly. As a spirit-medicine that has attained spiritual life, the divine powers and cultivation techniques I have mastered can only be inherited and practiced by beings of the same kind. This way, it will avoid many detours in the future. Should this creature also be able to transform into human form like me, it will surely become a significant asset to you." Zhixin's eyes sparkled as she spoke slowly. "It's not impossible, but no matter what you do for it, I must personally witness it from the side as a puppet. And from now on, this puppet will never leave your side." After gazing at Zhixin for a while, Han Li finally nodded, but also put forward his own conditions. "I have no concerns at all. The things I do will never remain secret." Zhixin beamed with satisfaction. "Then there will be no issues at all." During this year, please rest here quietly, Master. Should anything arise, simply let me know—this puppet will suffice. Upon saying this, Han Li waved his hand back, and instantly the "doll" behind him took a step forward and positioned itself beside him. "From today on, you shall accompany Zhi Xian, and never leave his side," Han Li declared solemnly. Though this enchanted puppet possessed only moderate sensitivity, it clearly understood simple instructions. The doll blinked several times before calmly nodding in agreement. Zhi Xian, however, offered a quiet smile, then flicked her wrist, and with a roll of violet light, gently placed the white rabbit in her arms onto the ground. She then shifted her form, appearing several paces away from the nine-curves spiritual parameter, and with a slight separation of her feet, a cascade of emerald light flashed across her body, transforming her limbs into pale purple tendrils that plunged straight into the earth. At this moment, the body of the immortal mushroom also began to glow with a vibrant, jade-green luminosity, shimmering with a translucent, misty radiance... Han Li stood in place, waiting until a towering purple mushroom, reaching nearly ten paces in height, fully emerged before him, and its roots had sunk deep into the ground, until their exact depth was no longer visible. Only then did he offer a slight smile, turned, and departed from the herb garden. Though he was deeply curious about the mysterious functions of this immortal mushroom, he now had to leave at once. The appointment he had made with the delicate young woman, Fei Xian, for the repair of the celestial magical armor from beyond the heavens, was approaching its due date. He himself was equally eager for this magical armor. To be cautious, however, Han Li had left both the Leopard Leopard Beast and his second immortal spirit within the abode, and had activated all the seals and wards before finally departing. Several hours later, he arrived at the storefront of the crystal-clad maiden, riding upon a beast-carriage. The shop remained firmly closed, as if it had not yet opened its doors to welcome guests. Han Li didn't hesitate. With a single gesture of his hand, a flash of fire emerged from his sleeve and shot out, vanishing instantly upon reaching the threshold. Then he simply stood quietly outside. Han Li stepped out of the magical array beneath his feet and, upon a single glance, immediately stopped at a corner of the space. There, a large array spanning over ten zhang in diameter was clearly set up—deep black as ink, with several dozen similarly dark crystal stones embedded around its perimeter. At the center of the array, where the array's focal point lay, stood a jade bronze cauldron about half a zhang tall, its surface inscribed with intricate characters, radiating a faint white mist. Floating several feet above the cauldron, wrapped in a thin veil of white vapor, was another object—about the size of a clenched fist—emitting a brilliant black glow and suspended motionless in the air. Han Li's eyes narrowed upon seeing this scene. Though the appearance of the object on the cauldron had changed somewhat, the cold, magical aura it emitted remained unchanged—clearly the sacred magical core of the magical ape. Yet now, the core had fully crystallized, shining like a block of pure black crystal. "As for your opinion, I haven't been idle these days—having invested considerable effort and a good deal of rare materials, I've finally completely erased the traces of the Saint-stage magian ape within the magic core, and smoothed out the turbulent magical energy so that it's no longer so violent or hard to control." After stepping out of the teleportation array together, the young woman smiled gently. "Ah, so it seems Miss Lin doesn't intend to simply embed the entire magic core into the magic armor, but rather to fully refine and dissolve it." Han Li stroked his chin, asking. "I didn't expect you to be so well-versed in armory craftsmanship. Indeed, that's exactly what I've planned. While embedding the entire magic core into the armor may repair the major cracks, it wouldn't address the finer details. Surely, Master Han wouldn't want the armor to leave any vulnerabilities when facing enemies in battle, would he?" The crystal-kin woman expressed mild surprise but explained clearly. "In truth, my knowledge of armory work is only basic. Please proceed as you see fit, according to your intentions." "I am quite confident in the crafting techniques of the Crystal Clan," Han Li said with a smile. "When I come to repair the magical armor shortly, I will activate the seal of this space, and I may need your assistance at that time. If everything proceeds smoothly, the repair should be completed within three days." Hearing Han Li's humble tone, Xin Xin smiled gently and, without further questioning, simply stated it in a half-agreeing manner. "Three days isn't very long. And since I'm repairing my own treasures, I'm certain Han will be glad to contribute his efforts," Han Li replied without hesitation. "Since Brother Han has no objections, let's begin right away." Xin Xin seemed eager to avoid further delay, and immediately raised her delicate hand. A scroll of magic floated upward from her palm and spun steadily in the air above her. As the light shimmered, a series of colorful spell gestures surged forth from the scroll, swiftly fading into the various corners of the space. At that very moment, a tremendous gust of wind suddenly roared throughout the space, with a dense, dark cloud surging forth. Simultaneously, the walls of the space began to hum, gradually revealing layers of gray mist. The entire space instantly turned dark, so dark that the figures behind could no longer be seen beyond a few feet—like they had been plunged back into a realm of magic. Seeing this, Han Li merely flashed a glance and, with a slight shake of his sleeve, launched a small white light sphere—about the size of an egg—into the air, which then circled steadily around him, instantly brightening the area around. At this moment, Xianxian had already stepped forward, reaching the large magical array. Han Li, seeing this, said nothing, but moved with a simple step or two—yet in an instant, he appeared behind the crystal-people woman, as if by teleportation. Xianxian, however, remained completely unaware, simply raising her hand and casting a spell toward the array before her. Immediately, a low hum resonated, and then as the deep, dark glow flowed through the array, it surged to life. Han Li's expression changed slightly. Though he had not yet discerned the subtle advantages of this magical array, the purity of the magical qi emanating from it was truly remarkable. He could not help but wonder where the woman had gathered so much such refined magical energy. At that moment, however, the slender young woman suddenly began chanting softly, and her body glowed with a bright cyan light. Suddenly, a vivid, large-scale azure qilin phantom emerged behind her, stretching several zhang in height. Initially motionless, the qilin phantom gradually began to stir as the young crystal-kin woman's incantations grew more urgent. Eventually, it opened its mouth and expelled a fiery orb the size of a human head. This orb was strangely dual-toned—embodying both black and cyan hues—and upon striking the central bronze cauldron of the magical array, it vanished almost instantly. A hissing sound followed, and a layer of black-cyan flame instantly erupted on the surface of the cauldron, soon igniting and burning vigorously.
