After concluding his divination and returning to the real world, Caine walked to the room outside his rental apartment, gazing at the crimson moon in the night sky beyond the window, silently reflecting for several dozen seconds. Perhaps there was still time to digest the potion... Finally, he murmured softly without sound, retrieved an item, brought along two secret companions, and vanished into the shadowed area devoid of light. In Beckland, he had grown hesitant to use the "Fire Leap," fearing detection by Charathus. It would be impractical to consistently ignite paper cranes folded by Will. Aonsedt each time as a preventive measure—such a gesture would be disrespectful to the "Snake of Fate." Moreover, his frequent visits to Dr. Allen's home often drew attention, making it likely that the family would be noticed. Moments later, Caine appeared at the back of the lofty Gothic clock tower in his dream, hidden within the shadow—this being Beckland's iconic "Clock of Order." Immediately thereafter, he and his two secret companions dispersed, each taking up a separate concealed position.
Having completed all this, Caine swiftly transformed a mouse into a secret figure, pushing it to the brink of his own control, then opened his mouth and softly recited a sacred name:
"Great God of War, symbol of iron and blood, sovereign of upheaval and strife, the 'White Witch' Catriona is present in this region..."
This was both a fulfillment of his vow to the malevolent spirit known as the 'Red Angel,' and a hope that the once-great being would step upon any potential traps that might lie ahead. At the same time, Caine found himself somewhat puzzled about his true intentions toward Thorin Einhorne Medici, and he did not feel the urgent need to seek assistance from the Night Church or the 'Mysterious Queen' Bernadette. Instead, he decided to observe closely, assess the situation, and avoid drawing others into any hidden pitfalls.
As soon as the prayer concluded, the gray mouse suddenly twitched slightly, then lay still, quietly falling beside the trash can. It had lost its life and was no longer Caine's secret figure.
This is Klein's method of preventing himself from being marked by the malevolent spirit known as the "Red Angel." After parting with his mouse effigy, he immediately withdrew with Qunus and Enyuni from the area housing the "Clock of Order," and, at a distance of several kilometers, had the "Winner" pray to the sea god, Cavitua. Once the prayer was completed, the trio retreated further, pulling away significantly. Then, Klein entered a storage room within a building, reversed his steps by four, and arrived upon the gray mist, settling into the position of the "Fool." He then summoned the "Staff of the Sea God" and, using the "prayer light points" of the "Winner," expanded his field of observation to assess the current state of the target region. Meanwhile, in his other hand, Klein held the sheet of paper stained with the blood of the "General of Illness," Tracie. With this medium and a clearly defined area of focus, Klein quickly located the now-invisible "White Witch," Caterina, within his true vision.
The woman with black hair and blue eyes, elegant and clear in beauty, wore a robe of pure white, light as feathers with no weight at all, drifting gently through the streets and alleys. Even when police officers looked in the right direction, they could not detect her presence. Without the help of the gray mist, Caine could only identify such a level of invisibility through the "threads of the spirit." Taking a deep breath, he patiently waited for the "Red Angel" demon to appear, while also observing what Catriona was searching for. He suspected that the "White Witch's" true target was Tristichk. Time passed slowly; the crimson moon gradually shifted. Catriona, wandering around the "Clock of Order" without success, grew increasingly restless and disappointed, as though she might soon leave the area. Yet the "Red Angel" demon had not appeared at all! This... Is Solon Einhorne Medici merely deceiving me? Has he not truly intended to make the "White Witch" his primary target?
No, that wouldn’t be necessary—then His entire condition would lose all meaning… The "Red Angel" demon had already arrived on site, just as I had, choosing not to act immediately, but instead waiting until I and my companions had fought fiercely with Catriona before finally moving in to finish off the remnants? I, too, had hoped to appear only when His battle with the sorceress reached its most intense phase, seizing the largest of the fruits then… As克莱恩’s thoughts raced, a hunch began to form: he suspected that the "Red Angel" demon was just as cautious, deliberate, and steady as himself, preferring to be the fisherman who nets the fish rather than the net itself. How truly troublesome… Now it would come down to who could be the most patient.克莱恩 murmured these thoughts silently, continuing to observe the situation around the "Clock of Order" through the "Prayer Points." Ticking, ticking, ticking—the second hand moved steadily through the quiet night—the expression of the "White Sorceress" Catriona grew increasingly gloomy. Suddenly, her gaze shifted toward the glass window of a building.
On a dimly lit night, it seemed as though the surface were a mirror, reflecting the things ahead. Katharina's beautiful blue eyes flashed gently, and instantly, the "mirror" surface grew softly dim, as if concealing countless objects and layered realms within. The glass window now appeared to be a portal into another world!
He felt he could still wait a little longer, because even if Katrinas moved out of the immediate vicinity of the Clock of Order, as long as she hadn't noticed that her daughter Tracie was in trouble, Caine could reacquire her location. Then, he would first summon the Mirror, Arados, to inquire about his target's specific abilities and items, and either seek assistance from the Queen of Mysteries, Bernadette, or borrow a Level 1 sealing object from the Church of Night. This way, before taking action, he could already tilt the scales of victory in his favor. His actions were not deliberately concealed—should he go to borrow a sealing object and the Archbishop grant it, that would indicate the goddess's true stance on the matter of George III: she did not wish for that king to become the Black Emperor, yet she would have to accept it as a given; should someone be willing to disrupt the ritual, however, she would be more than willing to offer support. Caine smoothed out his slightly anxious demeanor, allowing his observational posture to become more relaxed.
At that moment, Caterina, the "White Witch," regained her composure and drifted toward the glass window, seemingly dissolving into it without taking physical form. The layered, ethereal world within the "mirror" gradually contracted, as though retreating ever further.
Just then, using her "true vision" to observe below, Caine seemed to hear a piercing female cry.
The sound came as though from another world—laced with profound fear and an overwhelming sense of disbelief.
Yet none of the residents in the surrounding area stirred; no one heard it at all.
Was it Caterina's cry? What had happened to her? Caine's gaze froze instantly, and then a thought struck him:
The "Red Angel" spirit, too, was a spirit capable of "mirror manifestation," using this very medium.
Therefore, He must be deeply familiar with the "world within the mirror!"
Could it be that Solon Einhorn Medici had been quietly residing within the "mirror," waiting for the "White Witch" to willingly step into the trap?
As Klein's pupils dilated slightly, the dim, shadowed atmosphere within the glass window vanished. The "mirror" lost all its peculiarities and returned to its original form. A few seconds later, a slow, fresh red liquid began to seep from the base of the window, coalescing into a flowing substance that slid downward. Where this liquid passed, the surrounding grayish-white spread out, replacing the original pale yellow, as if new stones had been seamlessly reinstalled. Ticking, ticking, ticking—the droplets fell to the ground, spreading out and staining the surface with a vivid, blood-like red. Witnessing this scene, Klein's facial muscles twitched slightly, then he managed to suppress the expression with the strength of his "clown" ability. This outcome truly surprised him. A "woman who never ages," a seasoned Sequence 3 Saint with over a thousand years of experience, seemed utterly powerless against the "Red Angel" demon's trap, remaining completely still and motionless.
Yet even counting the two spectral duplicates and the seals he possessed, Klein still fell short compared to Katrinas' inherent strength—something he had to compensate for through prior preparation. This meant that should he face the "Red Angel" spirit directly, he would likely meet a similarly disappointing fate: powerless, insignificant, drifting slowly downward amid the flood. Was this the former King of the Angels? Even without having regained his peak strength, such a sense of despair was overwhelming. As the blood seeping through the glass window gradually diminished, Klein took a deep breath and returned to the real world. Then, he exchanged positions with his spectral duplicate, Enyuni—the "Winner"—sending him to stand before that very window. ——When a "Weird Mage" swaps positions, they may choose either to exchange only bodies or to include external objects as well; however, at this level of development, such precision is no longer possible. Klein could no longer selectively retain or leave behind specific objects, and thus had to either keep everything or leave it all behind.
As the outline of Enyuni—resembling Germán Spalro—began to take shape, he turned to the glass window and spoke in a low tone: "I have fulfilled my promise." Instantly, a figure appeared on the windowpane. Dressed in a long robe of black with red patterns, casually draped with a hood, the figure revealed a face with soft contours and a slightly brownish hue, lacking in vitality—the very "gatekeeper" now possessed by Sorin Einhorne Medici. "Well done," the young man said, stepping down from the window with a smile. Hearing this, Caine pulled out an object from his pocket and smiled warmly in response. "You've done well too." As he spoke, he exhaled on his single pair of glasses and positioned them over his left eye. Sorin Einhorne Medici's smile froze instantly.
