The thick wooden board is firmly fixed against a stone wall, with Old Wex held fast on the board.
However, he is secured by flying daggers—each of his two hands is nailed down, both feet are also fastened, and several daggers point inward, just a few millimeters from his body. Thus, he must remain motionless in this position or risk being sliced by the blades. For a few minutes, this is manageable; but as time passes and considering his age, his body begins to move involuntarily, resulting in several cuts.
Qin Feng stands smiling beside him, holding two flying daggers in hand, and asks, "Shasha, where would you suggest we aim these daggers?"
Isabella points to Wex's chest and says, "Strike directly at the heart—don't make him suffer any more. After all, he's quite old; why should he endure this?"
"He narrowed his eyes: 'Who made him stay silent? Did I ever enjoy injuring or killing people? You've already noticed—he's been playing games with us all along, thinking we're too young, too easy to fool!'
'I haven't,' Wex said, looking genuinely distressed.
'Nonsense! Say it again!' Qin the Young Lord raised his hand as if about to launch a flying dagger, while the old man was visibly shaken.
People are becoming increasingly cautious, more determined to live longer—yet they still find themselves trapped in this very same cycle. They are deeply struggling internally: to yield, they fear the King's future retribution; to resist, they cannot overcome the current crisis.
Isabella spoke: 'Old man, I know you have reservations, but I must urge you to tell us everything we want to know. Simply surviving—living on, even in exile—is better than dying right now, isn't it?'
'Exactly so.'
"Qin Dashi agreed, saying: 'You've been working here for so long—you must have established more than one safe haven for yourself. As long as you survive today, you'll be able to survive in the future. As for that so-called King Feili, what's there to worry about? I'll kill him, and then you won't have to live in constant fear. Of course, on the condition that you tell me where he's hiding!' Wei Kes raised his eyes, expressing doubt: 'Are you really going to be able to kill King Feili?' 'Do you think I came all this way through mountains and rivers just for what?' He glared. The old man shook his head: 'King Feili is a noble of the Blood Clan—his strength far exceeds your expectations. You won't be able to defeat him!' 'You once thought Ramos was a master, unbeatable—what happened then?'
Qin Da spread his hands. As someone who had studied psychology deeply, he knew clearly that unless the old man himself crossed over that mental threshold, he wouldn't speak. Isabella, equally experienced, said, "Give him three minutes to think. We'll go out." Don't worry—he won't escape, unless he's willing to lose all his limbs. Stepping out of the pyramid, Qin Feng took a deep breath of fresh air. The female officer turned back and remarked, "We should give him a few more minutes—three minutes is just a pretext. Clearly, the old man is already wavering!" He nodded and said, "Exactly. Then give him five minutes, Sasha. Have you ever heard of King Frey?"
"The beautiful officer shook her head: 'I've always known very little about the vampire lineage, let alone the American one. Once the old man starts speaking, just ask him what rank Prince Fei Li holds—then we'll have a clear picture!' Having someone like Lamor as an aide proves that Prince Fei Li is at least a noble-level vampire; otherwise, how could he command such loyalty from his subordinates?" Five minutes later, the two returned inside. The old man's expression had grown remarkably weary. Before either of them could speak, he said, 'If there's anything you'd like to ask, please do—my decision to cooperate rests on your ability to actually eliminate Prince Fei Li and give me a few days of peace!' Qin Feng's first question was: 'What rank does Prince Fei Li hold?' The old man replied, 'There's solid evidence showing he's at least a count-level vampire, possibly even a marquis. Moreover, he commands at least ten subordinates, each of whom is at least as strong as Lamor!'
"Let me wipe it off—indeed, it's a powerful force. Regarding the relationship between the Island of Death and the Angel of Death, his response was: these two organizations may be connected, but not necessarily, since they have never had any cross-organizational interactions. Yet, they are remarkably similar. Moreover, when he first received his assignment, the directive was clear: eliminate traitor Qin Feng. Clearly, Qin Feng was not a traitor to the Angel of Death; rather, he was a traitor to the Island of Death. King Fei Li directly labeled him a traitor, implying that Qin Feng had betrayed him—thus, he must also have been the behind-the-scenes mastermind of the Island of Death. Isabella remained composed: "Wicks, based on your knowledge, does King Fei Li have any other organizations besides these two?"
"The elder replied, 'There's definitely a military organization known as the Red Scourge Mercenary Corps. As for the others, I'm not sure. My role is limited to certain activities of the Death Angel, and King Fere is extremely cautious—never allowing any cross-over between different organizations!' That makes perfect sense. It's no wonder that Gossen, the father of Yash, was able to trace the Death Angels back to the Red Scourge during his investigation. 'Think carefully—have I missed anything?' Qin Feng said firmly. After a moment's reflection, the elder added, 'I've already shared most of what I know. As for King Fere's actual residence, I'm truly unaware. Having worked for him for so long, I've never actually seen him in person. However, I do know of about fifteen training bases of the Death Angels—roughly seven out of every ten.' Qin Feng expressed some disappointment and said, 'Very well. Tell me the locations of these bases, and I'll let you go.'"
A few minutes later, the two left the pyramid, and Wex began searching around for medicines to treat his injuries. They reached the nearest city and checked into a hotel. Since Frey, a royal bloodline of the Americas, must have his ancestral home somewhere along the American highway, Qin Feng decided to adopt a strategy of "drawing out the snake"—even if he couldn't personally capture Frey himself, he could at least bring out key figures. Then, he would proceed step by step, peeling back the layers of Frey's mystery. The most effective way to draw out the snake was to launch an attack on the training grounds of the Death Angels. Of course, Wex didn't need to personally oversee the operation; it was sufficient to simply inform his future father-in-law, Zhou Mingchu, who would surely coordinate a joint international effort.
