Boom, boom, boom... A pile of earth and stones surged upward, rising higher and higher. On the beach of the Eighty Electronic Book, Hitoshi Ichiro turned around upon hearing the sound and asked, "Captain, did you hear that? What on earth is making that noise?"
The captain chewed on his lips and replied, "Maybe it's the wind. The island's structure is rather unusual—even a slight breeze can produce strange sounds."
"Indeed, it's just an island. Huh." The old man relaxed, though he had been concerned, since his daughter, Keiko, and Qin Feng had headed off in that very direction.
The mound of earth and stones rose to five or six meters high, with a diameter exceeding fifteen meters—something that had appeared completely out of nowhere.
Suddenly, the top opened up, revealing two large black clamps, followed by several iron-gray claws, and then the massive body of a spider.
"My goodness! Keiko was absolutely right—there really is a big spider hidden here.
"Qin Feng sighed in admiration. The spider was over three meters long, each of its legs stretching longer than its body. Beneath its dark, shiny head were two sharp steel-like fangs, followed by a compact body and a round, plump abdomen. It clearly weighed more than two tons—perhaps even heavier. Perhaps disturbed from a peaceful night's rest, the spider was now furious, glaring at him with clenched teeth and rapidly rotating its two round eyes. "By heaven," Qin said, "you must have truly come to life!" "Good thing you're lucky to have been born on this island. If you'd been on the mainland of China, you'd have been captured long ago—first dissected, then preserved as a specimen, and displayed in a biological museum for all to admire!"
Hiss... Hiss... The spider opened its mouth, emitting strange sounds, and rapidly kicked its legs against the ground, launching a white silk thread toward Qin Feng.
Man, it's already underway! What a beast—just when I was talking to you, you suddenly charged in! Absolutely no courtesy at all. Qin Feng darted to the side and increased his altitude. The web strands followed suit, rising steadily with a clear determination to keep him ensnared, trailing behind for several hundred meters before finally settling down. Qin Shao was stunned. He couldn't help but wonder just how immense the pressure within that spider's abdomen must be—capable of propelling a strand of silk hundreds of meters long. His gaze lingered on the silk strand, a hint of ownership stirring within him. This silk, unbroken even by a flying sword, was at least ten times as strong as steel—perfect for securing objects. Even a cultivator might find it impossible to free themselves from such a hold. On purpose, he lowered his height, hoping to lure the spider into continuing its web-spewing. As he had anticipated, the great spider indeed fell for the ruse, spitting out another strand of comparable length.
Qin played along enthusiastically at first, but by the third time, the silk threads had noticeably shortened—either depleted of its reserves or realizing it had been tricked and unwilling to continue. Then it was Brother's turn to shine. From above, he dove down, then at a certain height, his flying sword accelerated and launched itself, piercing the spider's back. Though the spider was large, it remained agile—raising its right chelipeds and flicking them backward, just managing to intercept the incoming sword. Thwack— the sword was knocked clean out of the air, and Qin could feel the tremendous force it had absorbed. The spider’s chelipeds, however, remained undamaged. Damn it, I’m going to fry you. He launched a splintering projectile, which detonated at a distance of about one meter from the spider, sending out a high-temperature metal jet that instantly engulfed the creature in flames.
The sound of the shell explosion caught Mr. Hirata Ichiro's attention, and he suddenly raised his head, looking toward the direction of the sound.
"Mr. Hirata, don't worry," the captain smiled. "It's definitely something our boss has arranged. Our boss isn't an ordinary person—he often does things that surprise everyone!"
"Really? You're not at all concerned?" Mr. Hirata asked.
The captain shook his head. "If there were any real danger, and even our boss couldn't handle it, then sending more people would be in vain. Of course, there's nothing our boss can't manage. So please rest assured—soon, our boss will return with Miss Kiyoko. If we go, we'll only cause trouble."
The old man smiled. "I see. It seems you know our young boss quite well!"
"Rather average," the captain modestly replied.
The high-temperature metal jet inflicted severe suffering on the giant spider; after the flames subsided, its originally grayish back turned a deep reddish hue and began to emit white smoke. "Crickets! Crickets!" it thrashed about wildly toward Qin Feng in the sky, yet helplessly—after all, it couldn't fly. "Hahahaha! This is just the beginning! Let's keep going!" Qin Feng launched two artillery shells—one aimed directly at the spider, the other at the hole where it had first appeared. Boom! Boom! The hole was flattened, cutting off the spider's escape route. The second shell, however, achieved only modest results, as the spider wasn't foolish. It had learned its lesson the first time and wouldn't now stand there passively under fire. You can run, brother? Then I can't do anything? No—my brother has active radar-guided infantry anti-tank missiles. See how fast you can run compared to how fast the missiles fly.
Whoosh… A missile roared forth, and although the giant spider retreated, it was still caught and struck precisely in the posterior abdomen, bursting into fragments.
Boom… Boom… Several consecutive missiles hit the spider, making it dizzy and disoriented.
While this attack consistently succeeded, it failed to inflict substantial damage—so far, the only injury sustained was the severing of one of its legs.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Qin, the young lord, resumed using his flying sword.
Whoosh… Pffft… The sword pierced the spider’s right eye with precision, causing it immense pain. The spider rolled around on the ground, used its claws to remove the sword and set it aside, and then spilled a viscous yellow-green fluid from its eye. The fluid splashed onto plants, causing them to wilt instantly, and onto stones, where it quickly corroded the surface.
“By the way, this stuff is even more potent than concentrated sulfuric acid,” Qin remarked in admiration. Fortunately, he could fly—otherwise, he would have surely been crushed by the creatures below.
The giant spider seemed to realize it wasn't the match, beginning to dig into the ground with its legs, quickly scooping out a deep trench. It was too late to escape. Qin Shao had launched a贫uranium penetrator, hoping that the fragments of the贫uranium metal generated by the explosion would slice through the spider's tough exoskeleton. Boom— the spider was thrown high into the air, several meters above the ground, crashing down heavily, its hard shell marred by multiple wounds, many of which oozed a yellowish-green fluid. "Effective!" he was thrilled, launching another projectile at once, while simultaneously sending the flying sword to join the attack— a dual assault.
