Chapter 831: The Family's Treasured Heritage

Back to Chapter List
?Reading on mobile phone Qin Feng found it hard to believe that such a practice as marrying close relatives could have allowed a family to thrive for several centuries—it was simply ridiculous. However, upon reflection, it made perfect sense. In ancient times in China, marriages between close relatives were quite common. Although many children were born with congenital defects, the Chinese people did not perish but instead flourished and grew stronger. Isabella continued reading, and when she reached a certain page, she gasped, "This family even produced a vampire emperor! According to the records, this emperor was able to hold his own against the highest leaders of the European bloodline!" "Really?" Su Wu said. "With such content written by insiders, I'm still not entirely convinced of its credibility!" The beautiful instructor continued reading and said, "Even if there's some exaggeration, the credibility is still quite high. It states that when the Ghost Emperor died, he left behind a blood clot for his people, which could enable a future generation to become another Ghost Emperor!" Qin, the young noble, interjected, "Then when did the grandson die?" The beautiful instructor replied, "Four hundred years ago!" "Ha ha ha! Then it must be false," he laughed. "He died four hundred years ago. If that blood clot truly could help future generations become Ghost Emperors, then I'd like to know—has there been a second Ghost Emperor recorded in the family lineage?" She carefully went through the remaining pages and shook her head, "No. The Ghost King has appeared frequently, but there has only ever been one Ghost Emperor!" Qin shrugged, "That makes perfect sense—so the blood clot must have been completely useless. Isn't it about time we started preparing to be guests?" "Su Wu glanced at her wrist and said, 'It's 4:30 p.m. now—the sun has set for over an hour!' Qin Shao nodded, pulled out a remote from his pocket, and pressed the red button. Su, the female officer, raised her thumb in genuine admiration: "I'm truly impressed—such a clever move! Though European and Chinese customs differ, something as dramatic as destroying one's ancestral graves would be unbearable for anyone. Ms. Sha, we need to be ready for combat!" The officer said nothing further, only adding, "I'm already prepared—and even more eager than that!" Soon, piercing cries echoed from below, signaling that the vampires hidden throughout the underground areas had awakened. The three kept their eyes fixed on the exit. Suddenly, several vampires dropped from above, opening their mouths to reveal sharp fangs. Qin, the young noble, realized then that there were no fewer than multiple pathways leading down. Swish-swish— the flying swords intercepted them, cutting the vampires into two before they even touched the ground. These were all mid-level vampires, utterly unprepared. Su Wu had sharp eyes and immediately locked onto a figure rushing toward the window. With a single spiritual seal, her flying sword pierced the man right through the heart. "Ha ha! I've got him!" she shouted with delight—only for the man to rise again and charge at her moments later. "Miss, sometimes just piercing the heart isn't enough," Qin Dashi reminded her. "You should have said so earlier!" Su Wu blinked her large eyes, quickly casting a second seal and then cutting off the man's head with a single stroke. Qin Feng assumed she was well aware of this, since her mission to Europe specifically involved fighting vampires—there was no reason she wouldn't have consulted with He Muqing, Shu Yajing, and Lu Man before coming. Yet she hadn't asked any questions at all, thinking that with Qin Feng and Isabella as such formidable experts, there was no need to seek further advice. Given Qin Feng's current strength, any strike from his flying sword—no matter where it landed—would be sufficient to kill a vampire, so he hadn't given it much thought until just now. Isabella materialized as a streak of white, leaving a trail of the dead in her wake. The vampires' first wave was checked, having paid the price of over thirty of their own kin, and as a result, they had grown wiser. The three stood shoulder to shoulder, and Su Wu, after a strenuous effort, had just successfully slain two vampires. A cold voice echoed from the darkness: "Who are you? Why have you slaughtered my people? Do we harbor a deep grudge?" Qin, the young lord, replied: "It seems not, but there's no doubt that you are doomed today. Don't think that hiding will ensure your safety—by doing so, you'll meet a far more tragic end!" "Arrogant! Those who slaughter my people shall surely perish!" As the words fell, more vampires emerged, encircling the three. Most of them were high-ranking vampires, led by a ghost king who opened his mouth to reveal his fangs and cried out: "Shatter these three to pieces!" A group of them surged forward. Qin Feng summoned his flying sword, while Isabella advanced to meet the attack, drawing upon their full strength. The vampires clearly weren't up to the task—within moments, another wave of casualties fell, including the Ghost King himself, who was struck by a sword. Had he not dodged in time, he would have perished right there. "Why are you slaughtering our people?" the Ghost King cried out, his voice filled with anguish. While directing his flying swords, Qin Feng replied, "You vampires have been causing unrest in our Chinese lands. This is our retribution—accept your fate!" Two more Ghost Kings emerged from the shadows, joining forces to attack him. Even with three of them, Qin Feng handled them effortlessly. With a burst of force— One Ghost King's head shot skyward, another's ice spear drove into the wall with a solid thud, and the third was shrieking in agony as the fire dragon consumed him. Isabella threw her dagger, striking the ghost king who was scorched by fire. As she moved to deal with the one pinned to the wall, the previously cold voice resonated once more: "Please, stop fighting! We are willing to sacrifice our ancestral treasure as the price of our lives!" All three halted at once. Qin Feng furrowed his brow: "What treasure is that? And if you wish to negotiate, come out and speak plainly. If you hide any longer, I'll keep killing!" A stooped old vampire slowly emerged from the darkness, holding a cane and moving with a slow, deliberate pace—clearly one whose body had been half-buried in the earth. He raised his head, revealing two dimmed eyes, and said: "Our ancestral treasure is the blood clot left by the Ghost Emperor—it is also the most precious treasure of our vampire lineage."
