That afternoon, the five-member investigative team set out on schedule.
Eight Zero E-book
No doubt, it was five people—aside from Qin Feng, He Muqing, Shu Yajing, and Luo Man, there was also the vampire lord who had voluntarily stepped into the net.
Calling him a lord was quite an honor; probably, by now, the vampire clans across Europe had been wiped out entirely. As a lone commander, how could he possibly claim to be a leader, especially one who had always looked down upon the very vampires he now had to lead?
Since he was such a slow traveler, the Chinese military had specially arranged a high-speed jet transport to carry them directly to their destination—otherwise, if he relied solely on flapping his wings, he’d be flying for a long time.
Inside the cabin, he remained humble, even deferential, given that among the five, he was the weakest in strength.
Isabella proceeded to the designated location from a different direction as instructed by Qin Dashi, taking on the role of support. The pilot walked forward, saluted the group first, and then said, "Group Leader He, General Qin, we have reached our designated position—please prepare for the parachute jump!"
Well, they certainly made a show of it, slinging on their parachute packs—though if they had jumped straight out, the pilot would have been stunned and would have immediately reported the situation. The aircraft began descending, and the cabin doors opened. Qin Dashi smiled warmly and said, "Ladies, let's go!" He then stepped out first. The three women followed suit, while the Bloodline Leader remained last.
As the plane glided through the sky, the captain asked curiously, "I didn't see any parachutes deployed—did you?"
The pilot who just relayed the message was stunned and said, "How could they have failed to open their parachutes? They're all elite officers from our military—one major, one graduate of a top academy, and two colonels. How could they have risen to such high ranks so young without real competence?"
"Indeed," the captain nodded. "Perhaps today's cloud cover was too thick, so we didn't see the parachutes deploy. Our mission is complete—we're heading back now!"
He hadn't made a mistake. All five of them had indeed failed to open their parachutes.
Qin looked at him with a cheerful smile and said, "You know quite a bit, don't you? I'm sure you must have done some reconnaissance before coming here. Tell me, how did you manage to make subtle moves without being noticed?"
The bloodline elder blushed and said, "Mr. Qin is being too kind. How could I possibly make any moves in front of them? I've only visited them once in secret. I wasn't detected because I used the technique of feigning death—each time I buried myself in the soil, which kept them from spotting me."
He Mei quickly added, "That means their sense of smell and vision isn't very sharp, is that right?"
"Not exactly. If I hadn't reduced my life signs to the minimum, I probably would have been discovered long ago," he said modestly.
Huff, huff...
In the distance, three flying cockroaches appeared, flying at about a hundred meters in height. Their large bodies, unattractive appearances, and constantly vibrating antennae stood out.
"Not good—they've arrived. We should hurry and hide, or we'll definitely have trouble." The vampire leader said, sounding rather anxious. Qin Feng nodded. "Then you go hide now. We'll hide too shortly after." "Alright." Since their survival depended on it, he wasn't going to be polite—using both hands and arms, he dug a hole in the ground, then buried himself, making sure to blend in. Honestly, at first glance, it was hard to tell anything was amiss. The flying cockroaches were approaching. Qin Shao bent down, placing a dark rectangular object on the ground. With a thought, the four of them vanished instantly and reappeared inside the small tripod. Looking at the image projected before them, Romane asked, "Husband, what was that object you placed down a moment ago? It looks a bit like a brand-new type of bomb!"
"He chuckled, "Yes, it's a bomb—don't be fooled by its small size; its explosive power is quite remarkable. The most striking effect is that it creates a deep crater on the ground, perfectly mimicking the marks left by artillery fire—just what we need!" Hei Muqing blinked, "A deep crater—so after the explosion, the one hiding beneath the soil, pretending to be dead, will be revealed, won't he?" "Exactly," Qin Shao replied confidently. The three women exchanged puzzled glances, not understanding why he would do this—didn't the bloodline still have value? Why expose him to the magical race? "Heh, I'll explain later," he deliberately held back, saying, "The cockroaches have already arrived—we'll just have to watch the show!"
"Three flying cockroaches were remarkably unattractive. They used their wobbling antennae to sense any living object in their surroundings. As soon as they detected something—be it any animal, even just a fly—they were inevitably doomed. 'My dear husband, aren't the magical race's appearances quite dreadful?' Shuyajing, who detested cockroaches above all, found it utterly exhausting to gaze upon these three colossal beings, each exceeding twenty meters in height. 'Their appearance isn't their fault, but coming out to show off is simply inappropriate,' Qin Shao remarked. 'Now, keep your eyes open and closely observe their attack patterns. Then we'll charge out and eliminate them!' He Mengqing seemed to have sensed something, yet she held back from asking any questions. The three large cockroaches wobbled and staggered, seemingly about to make it across, yet once again failed to detect the bloodline leader concealed beneath the ground. A subtle upward curve appeared at Qin Shao's lips, as an explosion echoed from outside.
Boom… instantly, dust and debris surged forth, lifting a large section of the ground and scattering soil in all directions, creating a magnificent scene. Three large cockroaches, drawn by the explosion, turned their round eyes and approached this way. Inside the mud pit, the vampire lay fully extended, puzzled as he lifted his head only to find the soil that had once covered his body now gone, revealing the large cockroaches descending steadily toward him. "How is this possible?" he felt as though he had been deceived, though he had no recollection of what had happened after he had sunk into the earth. Hh… Three energy spheres flew past simultaneously, leaving him utterly stunned—there was no way he could possibly evade them now.
