"No, no!" Dong Mengyao gasped with all her strength, how could she give this man her most precious first time! She was terrified, shrieking and struggling fiercely. The ugly man, the more she fought desperately, the more lustful and decadent he became—after all, this was a pure, campus-beauty-grade girl he hadn't seen in years, and today was finally his chance to experience her freshness. So, one by one, he peeled off his clothes, revealing the dark hair on his chest, which made Dong Mengyao cover her eyes even more, utterly terrified. To this romantic girl, such a strange, vulgar, and cruel man was truly heartbreaking. Today was the end—she had been defeated by a villain. With a sense of utter despair, Dong Mengyao closed her eyes. Just as the unattractive man charged toward Dong Mengyao, and Dong Mengyao closed her eyes in despair, a tremendous crash rang out—the door, which had been shut, was violently blown open. A tall, handsome young man, elegant and graceful, burst in. The lecherous man was stunned. He never expected that, while enjoying a moment of pleasure, someone would suddenly disrupt the scene. He grew furious and shouted to his companions outside: "Guys! This young man is simply impatient! He's disrupting my plans! Quick, take him out and eliminate him!" As he finished speaking, three of his companions leapt in, surrounding the young man tightly, completely encircling him. Now it was action time—action time! The three companions and the unattractive man converged on the young man, encircling him in the center. Yet the young man remained calm. He surged forward and backward, darted left and right, advancing and retreating as needed. Still, with four against him, the young man clearly would suffer if he tried to hold his ground too long. He suddenly thought of something, pulled out at random a bag-like object, and tossed it into the air—immediately, dust filled the room. "Oh! Oh!" The four people clutched their eyes, rubbing furiously, trying to ease the pain. What on earth was this? Ah! It was lime powder! That explained why their eyes ached so badly and wouldn't open. While the four were still in shock, the young man grabbed the terrified Dong Mengyao and took off running. "Catch him! Don't let that boy get away!" the ugly man shouted. Two accomplices downstairs heard the call and quickly blocked the young man and Dong Mengyao's path. "Clear the way!" the young man said firmly. "Leave this girl here, and I'll make room for you!" the two accomplices threatened. With a swift side kick, the young man sent one of the accomplices sprawling to the ground, but that man went wild, raising a large chopping knife and swinging it with force—silver light flashed, and with a sharp *crash*, the blade came down on the young man. With a sharp crack, a long gash appeared on the young man's arm as the knife sliced through it, and blood immediately gushed out. Yet the young man showed no fear. Though injured, he didn't utter a single cry of pain. Instead, seizing the moment when his companion was momentarily distracted, he delivered a sweeping leg kick, sending him sprawling to the ground. The cutting knife clattered to the floor. The companion lay there, looking like a man who had just eaten dog food, his two front teeth knocked out by the cement floor, blood spreading all around him, crying out in distress. "I didn't plan to come over at all—my mother just called me this morning to remind me!" High light said, drifting back to the scene of the phone call. It had been early in the morning when he arrived at the 18th floor of the Ginza Tower, and he had just answered a call from home. "Longer! Is that you, Long? It's your mother! I'd like to talk to you for a few minutes!" The warm voice on the other end of the line was familiar. "Mother, I'm just starting my shift! Please go ahead and tell me what you need!" High light went to a corner and spoke with his mother. "Longer, how is Dong Mengyao?" Every time his mother called, she always mentioned Dong Mengyao. "Yes, Mother, she's doing well!" High light always replied the same way. "Longer, I have something important to tell you. Mengyao is a young woman living away from home, and I'm really worried about her. When I woke up this morning, my eyes jumped three times—fearful of something going wrong. So I called you right away. Longer, please take good care of her!" "If she happens to have any misfortune, I'll never rest until I've settled this with you!" Mother's words acted like a wake-up call, making Gao Liang increasingly concerned about Dong Mengyao's interview today. Of course, Gao Liang is a dutiful son—when his mother speaks, he only listens and obeys—so he kept nodding, saying, "Mother, Mother, I'll take care of everything. Please rest assured!" "That's better. Mother would like to ask you one thing—how far have your two lives progressed? Does Dong Mengyao like you? When will you both return together to settle this matter?" Mother's questions came unexpectedly, leaving Gao Liang both surprised and delighted. "Mother, how could I possibly say otherwise? I'm just her elder brother; I have no special feelings for her." Gao Liang explained to his mother. "Then, what about Dong Mengyao's feelings?" Mother wanted to know for sure. "Dong Mengyao feels the pace is too fast. As for our matter, Mother, please don't worry about it anymore!" Gao Liang reassured his mother. "But how come I, your mother, have such a special fondness for it when one day you two—well, you know what I mean?" Mother truly felt invested in the matter of Gao Liang and Dong Mengyao. "Mother, Dong Mengyao is still a recent graduate, just stepping into society. She has her own choices now, and we've already discussed this thoroughly. Mother, I'm confident I can handle my relationship with Dong Mengyao with maturity and balance. Though I deeply admire her beauty, I don't want to be overly self-centered—I believe she deserves her own space and independence to make her own decisions." At this moment, Gao Liang's reason and rationality triumphed over his emotions. Even though he genuinely cherished Dong Mengyao in his heart, he knew he shouldn't be too demanding on her. "Ah! I often find myself at a loss when it comes to your young people's matters. If Dong Mengyao isn't interested in you, I wouldn't insist—only with Xiao Long, I have only one son. I truly hope you'll find a partner sooner and settle down!" Mother had been patiently and sincerely hoping that her son would marry and establish a family soon. Gao Li Mother said, back in the village, men of high light’s age had long since married and had children of their own. "Mother, don’t worry about it anymore! I’ll handle it!" High Light comforted her. "Good! Mother’s really looking forward to Long-er coming home for the New Year, hoping he’ll bring back a daughter-in-law! Don’t let me worry about your matter!" Hearing Long-er’s words, Mother brightened up. She believed in her son’s ability and trusted that he would find his own future wife. "Of course, Mother! You don’t need to worry at all! I won’t let you down! I’ll hang up now, Mother, goodbye!" High Light exhaled deeply, for he had grown concerned about Dong Mengyao lately. How had her interview gone today? "Long-er, goodbye!" Mother said, parting from High Light with lingering affection. Mother’s call suddenly reminded High Light of just having started his work. He suddenly realized something—something was off. Definitely something strange. High Light had a strong, unmistakable feeling—something wasn’t right. It wasn’t good at all. Think about it! Most foreign trade companies in Tokyo are concentrated in the coastal area of Tokyo's New City. It came as a surprise that Dong Mengyao's interview was held in Tokyo's Western District, where the population is sparse and primarily composed of residential neighborhoods, with few bustling commercial buildings. Even though there are newly constructed office complexes, they remain largely underutilized. For a young woman like Dong Mengyao to go to such a place for an interview—without any safety concerns—seemed quite unusual. Coincidentally, Gao Liang's company received a call from a Japanese client in the Western District requesting on-site technical support for a game-related issue. Gao Liang went there as a regular engineer. Fortunately, the technical problem was straightforward and easily resolved—Gao Liang handled it with just a few quick actions. This was excellent news, as he took a direct taxi to reach the newly built office building where the interview was scheduled. She was already speaking with a young man when he spotted her from a distance. Then, Dong Mengyao got into the car. How clever Hao Liang was! Yet, he couldn't rest easy about Dong Mengyao's safety. So he took a taxi, followed her all the way, and stepped in to save her at the crucial moment. Now everything made sense. Dong Mengyao looked at Hao Liang with deep gratitude—this very person who had saved her, who had sustained serious knife wounds in the process.
