Chapter 1551: The Strange Poison

Back to Chapter List
The strange moth emitted a continuous hissing sound, clearly surprised by the impact of the attack, yet soon its fiery golden eyes flared with fierce intensity. With a swift motion of its hands, a shimmering green light surged over its bloodied arms, rapidly healing the wounds. At the same time, its back trembled violently, and its wings flickered, vanishing completely to reveal a hundred sharp, gleaming blades, each about half a foot long, radiating a cold, piercing glow and exuding a heavy, oppressive阴气. Suddenly, the moth's eyes flashed with renewed ferocity, and the blades on its back hummed in unison, as if preparing to launch another assault. Yet at this moment, Han Li suddenly smiled, his body radiating a golden light. The scales that had appeared on his skin gradually faded, and his four golden arms dissolved into mist, becoming indistinct. This startled the intelligent moth, which paused mid-attack. Meanwhile, Han Li raised a single hand, murmured a spell, and a thunderous crack echoed behind him. Instantly, a pair of shimmering, feather-like wings unfolded, and as he moved, he vanished completely from his original position. At that very moment, as a thunderous roar echoed out from dozens of zhang away, Han Li suddenly materialized before the strange giant moth, his form appearing strangely, yet without employing any defensive spell or technique. Instead, he simply folded his arms and gazed at the moth with a half-smiling, half-uncertain expression. Though the moth was initially startled and doubtful, its fierce instincts swiftly overpowered its hesitation, and with a loud cry, its scales instantly rose upright, preparing to pursue Han Li. And wherever the deep purple and black hues appeared, those were precisely the areas where sensation had been lost. The creature had been struck by a strange toxin never before encountered! This toxin was both concealed and exceptionally potent—so subtle that neither the creature nor the healer could detect any early signs, yet once it fully manifested, it swiftly spread to cover such an extensive area. The startled astonishment of the strange moth was truly remarkable. Without hesitation, it opened its mouth and expelled a glowing green light, within which a luminous, jade-green orb the size of an egg shimmered briefly before vanishing and settling at the chest wound. The orb spun smoothly, its green radiance brightening instantly, and a distinct, unusual fragrance emanated from it, instantly lightening the foul odor. As a result, the rapidly spreading purple-black toxic vapor momentarily halted, coalescing and ceasing its outward diffusion. Han Li, witnessing this, was somewhat surprised. He had personally witnessed the intense potency of the spiritual vortex's light, and yet, the victim had not immediately succumbed to it—clearly indicating that the body itself possessed a certain degree of resistance to the toxin. But then Han Li sneered, suddenly leaping forward. As his body surged with vibrant green light, he transformed into a massive green phoenix, ten zhang long, and darted out instantly. In just two swift movements, the phoenix materialized above the strange moth, which was still actively expelling toxins from its body. With a spread of wings, thunder roared! Immediately, thick golden arcs surged across the phoenix's body surface, and its pair of broad, pale golden claws plunged down with force. Below, the moth suddenly trembled, and its strange blades shot upward like a sudden downpour of rain. The phoenix, facing the dense stream of white light rushing toward it, paid it no heed and continued its downward descent without the slightest hesitation. After a series of clattering impacts, all the blades rebounded off the phoenix's feathers, their sharp edges proving unable to penetrate or harm the creature in the slightest. It was no surprise at all. Han Li's physical body had always been exceptionally resilient, and after transforming into the form of the Peng, his strength became even more formidable—far beyond the reach of these ordinary blades. In fact, his sharp claws effortlessly sliced through dozens of blades, striking the strange moth with a thunderous force that pierced its body. Jin-arc flickered in and out of sight across a radius of several hundred zhang, leaping with ghostly grace, spanning vast distances in an instant. A tremendous roar! At fifty zhang away, the Jin-arc burst apart in the void, releasing countless fine filaments of electricity that shimmered and danced, coalescing into a vast golden net that descended like a shield. Yet suddenly, a flash of emerald light erupted beneath—right where the golden grid struck—and it was violently pushed aside. Under the flashing golden lightning, a figure stumbled into view—precisely the strange, cicada-like moth that had previously performed the "golden shell" maneuver. Now, however, two-thirds of its body had turned a deep purple-black, while only the central section glowed with an uneven, green light, pulsing steadily as if holding fast to a green orb, the toxin lingering just below its neck and unable to fully reach its head. Its arms and tail, though, seemed to resist the toxin's effects, displaying only a faint layer of pale black mist as the green light flickered. Even so, the creature appeared clearly under the strain, trembling and nearly collapsing. It's no wonder it dared neither to engage Han Li again nor to fight even a little—right away, it decisively suppressed its toxicity, intent on slipping away quietly. Yet, despite its flawless concealment techniques, it could not evade Han Li's clear and discerning spiritual vision, which instantly located it. To withstand the divine, purifying lightning, it had to summon additional spiritual power, braving its way once more. As a result, the toxicity it had just managed to suppress surged back with renewed vigor, overwhelming it completely. At the very moment the electric arcs were discharged, the azure great phoenix flashed its wings twice and, with several swift movements of its massive body, reached the spot where the strange moth had appeared. From above, it stared down with a cold, unwavering gaze. Though Han Li's great phoenix was not the true K'un-peng spirit, its lineage of true spirit blood naturally carried an indomitable aura. Seeing this, the strange moth, whose golden eyes finally flickered with fear, flashed a gray glow across its body, eager to deploy another evasive technique and flee. But at that moment, a sharp crack echoed suddenly, and the jade-green orb held in its mouth inexplicably shattered. This unexpected change left Han Li and the strange moth both stunned. Immediately, the moth emitted a piercing, mournful cry, its form then bursting forth with an intense, radiant glow, swelling several times in size. A flash of gray light appeared beside the giant serpent's head, revealing another lion's head mysteriously. As the creature moved, its face contorted into a fierce expression, and it charged straight at Han Li with determined fury. With its arms sweeping wildly, countless claw-like projections surged forward, converging into two massive claw shadows in a series of sharp, rushing sounds. The celestial and elemental energies within a few miles around shimmered into countless glowing points, which were then swiftly drawn into the two giant claws. As the two claw shadows expanded, an eerie sensation of enveloping the entire realm emerged, and they advanced slowly toward Han Li. Under the shadow of the claws, Han Li felt no matter how he dodged, he could not avoid the attack, his pupils suddenly narrowing. His great phoenix form immediately emitted a clear, resonant cry! The surface of the light shimmered, and in the span of a single breath, the Penglai had transformed into a peacock, its entire body wrapped in vibrant five-colored spiritual light, only a few zhang in size. The light on its body, like tangible forms, was dazzling and brilliant. Han Li suddenly activated the Jingze Technique and, in an instant, transformed into a five-colored peacock. Unaware of why, Han Li instinctively took on this form, as the shadow of the claws seemed so strange. To his astonishment, an unexpected phenomenon occurred! As the claw shadows approached, the feathers on the five-colored peacock suddenly shot out simultaneously, instantly merging into the light flames covering its body. The five-colored spiritual light surged tenfold at once, then flowed downward in a powerful wave, directly facing the massive claw shadows. From a distance, it appeared as if a river of five-colored light had suddenly inverted and surged downward in a sweeping flow. The strange moth, with its two heads, was struck by the impressive display of the five-colored peacock and the radiant light, its eyes flashing with disbelief. Yet, at this moment, it could no longer control its own attack. A flash, and the massive claw shadow collided instantly with the river of five-colored light—yet silently! The five-colored glow flashed several times, and the massive claw shadow seemed to dissolve like foam, vanishing completely into the light river. The earlier thunderous presence had merely been fleeting. Yet, cautious all the same, Han Li did not advance—he retreated instead. A ripple of five-colored light danced across his body, and like a peacock, he materialized suddenly twenty paces away at another spot. The monstrous moth, having failed its initial strike, now hung motionless in place. Its two heads fixed intently on Han Li, filled with resentment. But then, a surge of purple-black toxic vapor rushed upward, instantly turning both heads to the same deep purple-black hue. The creature shuddered, its eyes dimming, and then, as if its bones had dissolved, it plunged swiftly toward the ground. At that moment, the peacock-like creature folded its wings, shrinking several times in size, and resumed its human form. Han Li stood motionless, his body straight and suspended in place, coldly gazing at the strange moth plummeting downward, showing no intention of moving toward it. With a loud "thud," the moth's dark purple and black body, like a mass of mud, crashed onto the ice surface and remained utterly still. Han Li raised a single hand toward the void. A silver flame burst forth, appearing strangely out of nowhere—precisely the Spirit-Consuming Heavenly Flame that had previously been trapped by the moth. With a mere thought, Han Li summoned the silver orb, which immediately shot downward, flashing with silver light and transforming into a bright silver phoenix mid-flight. The phoenix, in a single flicker, reached the space above the moth's body, spreading its wings and preparing to plunge straight into it. At that moment, both heads of the phoenix suddenly exploded simultaneously, dispersing into thick clouds of blood mist. Within the mist, two bursts of sound—"whoosh!"—followed, and two large green flames, the size of fists, materialized and shot off in opposite directions.
